The election is hardly finished, and the fundraising has begun anew.
The Obama campaign, which raised more than $600 million for the election of the junior senator from Illinois as the next president of the United States, is selling celebratory T-shirts.
Thirty bucks.
The proceeds are going to the Democratic National Committee, which appearently has put itself in some debt with the massive organization it helped finance for the Obama campaign. President-elect Barack Obama and his vice president, Joe Biden, have their work cut out for them, a campaign e-mail explains, "But before we take the next step, we need to get our house in order.
"The Democratic National Committee poured all of its resources into building our successful 50-state field program,'' the e-mail notes. "And they played a crucial role in helping Barack win in unlikely states like North Carolina and Indiana. We even picked up an electoral vote in Nebraska. The DNC took on considerable debt to make this happen.
For $30 or more to help the DNC pay off its debt, donors get "a commemorative 2008 Victory T-shirt.'' It pictures what would appear to be Obama and Biden heads with wings.

Those are flags behind them, not wings, I believe. $30 is steep for a t-shirt!
I wonder if Hillary will start selling t-shirts, too, to help pay down her debt. Maybe "I helped put those cracks in the glass ceilling" could be the motto. *grins*

Hey, if the campaign hadn't spent nearly $700,000 for the Berlin speech, to persuade people who couldn't vote in America that our Chosen One is a good guy, they wouldn't have to sell those stupid T-shirts!
Of course, Obamacons who criticized the GOP for spending $150,000 on clothing for the Palin family probably think Obama's 700K smackers was perfectly justified.

Come on now Jeff, you'd be drooling at the mouth if that were a McCain/Whatshername T-shirt.
