ANCHORAGE - Gov. Sarah Palin arrived back in her home state just before 5 a.m. local time, and is headed to Wasilla, where she'll vote and meet with supporters.
Palin flies mid-day to Phoenix for her rally with Sen. John McCain. Palin staff report that the candidate and her husband, Todd, will be accompanied by numerous friends and relatives on the flight, including a past Iditarod champion and Scott Davis, Todd's Iron Dog snowmobile racing partner.
The road around the airport remind that even in Alaska there are other races of import: here, the streets are peppered with signs for convicted incumbent Sen. Ted Stevens and his challenger, Mark Begich, this town's Democratic mayor.
It's Palin's first trip back to Alaska since early September, when she came to ship her son, Track, off to Iraq. If she speaks with the press this morning we'll report it here.
