The Swamp

by Frank James

Former comedian Al Franken has a negligible 48-vote lead over incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman in the contest for the Senate seat from Minnesota. He had led by about 250 votes at the end of last week.

If those election lawyers up there are billing by the hour, this should have a very good Christmas, at least for them.

As the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports, both sides still have plenty to fight over and the recount's outcome is far from certain, including the final disposition of 1,500 absentee ballots.

The only thing that appears safe to say is the counting will stop New Year's Eve because that's when the Minnesota Supreme Court said it would.

Minnesotans will get what they deserve if they are foolish enough to elect Franken, a thug who made his living, such as it was, from racist and misogynist "satire." And people are saying that Caroline Kennedy isn't qualified to serve as a U.S. senator, when a cretin like Franken might be elected??? Maybe the Minnesota state slogan should be changed to "Land of 10,000 Looneytunes."

Darlene:

C'mon, this is the state that elected a professional wrestler. Why not a comedian? Where's your sense of humor?

BBBBob: That's the problem. There's nothing funny about Franken as a U.S. Senator!

Minnesota and the US would be well-served with Al Franken in the Senate. He is smart, hardworking and passionate. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that his lead holds.

Coleman is a typical Repuglican crook and thug, I'm glad he's losing. His campaign consisited of nothing but the usual Repuglican Rovian fear and smear tactics.

Coleman to use campaign funds for defense:

"Donors to Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman's re-election campaign may be surprised to learn that the St. Paul Republican is planning to use their contributions to pay blue-chip criminal defense lawyers to defend him against a reported FBI probe into his dealings with a wealthy businessman."

"As the Strib and our Josh Kraushaar report, Coleman and his wife Laurie have retained lawyers Earl Gray and Doug Kelley to deal with allegations that his friend and political patron Nasser Kazeminy funneled $80,000 to the senator's wife through a Kazeminy-controlled Texas oil services company. The Colemans have denied the charges -- and accused rival Al Franken of stoking the controversy."

“We intend to have any legal fees related to what we believe to be a politically inspired legal action to be covered by the Senator’s campaign," said Coleman spokesman Luke Friedrich.

Al Franken is the comedian and Norm Coleman is the joke.

Good luck Al, I'm pulling for you!

This will be decided in the courts no matter what thanks to the baseless, partisan decisions of Mark Ritchie and the canvassing board he leads. This was not a recount but rather a "how can we help Al win?" brainstorming session.
P.S. Still looking for an example of Al that shows he's "hardworking." Let's see, two bankruptcies w/ "Air America." No hard work there. Hung on at SNL until Lorne Michaels had to show him the door WAY after most of the people he came up with had moved on to bigger, better things. No hard work there. The man is simply a walking, talking partisan failure.

Could Frank James seriously be a worse reporter? Frank, we know it's your dream that Franken's lead holds and that what happens but don't let it so HORRIBLY slink into your supposed "reporting."
Let me tell you the news, this thing is already guaranteed to drag into 2009.

Frank James' "reporting:" "The only thing that appears safe to say is the counting will stop New Year's Eve because that's when the Minnesota Supreme Court said it would."
Graphic directly above the posting of his supposed news story w/ link to Minneapolis Star-Tribune story: "Minnesota won't have new senator before 2009."
Gosh, what a reporter that Rank James is!

The world is seeing what having a congress of Norm Colemans can do. One thing that remains clear about this election is that most of the voters in MN wanted someone else to represent them. Good for them. Hopefully the Coleman campaign's attempts to disenfranchise as many votes as it takes to win will fail.

This recount has been the most open and transparent that I have ever seen. They even had a live streaming of most of it if you had bothered to look before you commented.
The problem here is that partisan Republicans (you) are angry that you can't thug your way to "victory" like you did in Florida in 2000 and I'm sure that makes you angry.

PS - Don't forget to donate to Coleman's campaign Jeff, he's going to need it to fight corruption charges whether he wins or not.

Jeff,
That's laughable criticism coming from a crybaby who used to call himself bill before the Republics were thrashed in 2006. Remember that? "Politics is a contact sport" you'd crowe. You disappeared for several months and then suddenly reappeared but started calling yourself jeff. Pathetic.

Ace reporter Frank James: "The only thing that appears safe to say is the counting will stop New Year's Eve because that's when the Minnesota Supreme Court said it would." Story from Star-Tribune linked to the graphic on the report above Frank's scribblings: "Minnesota Won't Have a New Senator Until 2009."
Frank, if we didn't have your incompetence we'd have to invent you.

Lars, you're the partisan joke if you think the DECISIONS of this board are correct just because they're being streamed live. You know, you can be open and transparent about being a Franken partisan and EVERY decision that Ritchie's had to make in this case has gone the way of the Franken campaign. What's that make him, oh right, a partisan! Say, isn't that a D in front of his name?
You're funny. You claim that the partial recount Gore wanted in Florida would have been legitimate in one instance then you say that only the count all the votes (even the ones that were never cast or have no paper ballots) approach Ritchie is taking is 100% legitimate because it's "open and transparent." Which is it, Lars? Do you want the partial recount of only select counties that Gore wanted or the count the votes that were never even cast approach taken by Ritchie? Or is it just whatever helps the guy with the D in front of his name? Thought so.

Hey Jeff, why don't you just call Frank on the phone and have a private conversation; the rest of us are rather annoyed by your grudge. Oh, and I see Al Franken may pull this out.

Bill/Jeff,

Have you already abandoned the "Palin 2012" campaign?

Come on lad, there's work to be done there. Get crackin'.

Jeffy translation:

"Waaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

Does anyone remember what Bozo Coleman said after Franken wouldn't concede?

Something to the effect of "stop wasting tax payers' money and just admit that I won."

Wow, Mr Kettle meet Mr Pot.

Coleman's supporters deserve to have money stolen from them this lying way by the Repub lawyers
.

That's why lawyers get such a bad rap. The RNLA. They even lie to their own Republican supporters.

Priceless.

republicans wont recover for 20 years

I'LL CHOOSE MOOSE COUNTRY OVER TWO MORE PEOPLE WITHOUT ANY EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE!

No, Republicans probably won't win an election for the next 20 years, maybe longer, as long as ACORN is alive and well. Thank you, Barack Hussein Obama for teaching all of America what a community organizer is!!! And who cares about Caroline Kennedy's experience? Barack Obama had ZERO experience! What a joke!

ACORN is just a small org compared to Rove and friends. Jeff/Bill just can't stand that there is a recount and that Coleman might lose like so many other repubs have in the last two elections. And Nybor, what is wrong with being a great community organizer? Isn't that what Democrocy is all about - much better that buying votes and tricks to keep people from voting. Now your "talking points" are so week.... Caroline Kennedy has years of experience in our government, just not in an elected position. She comes from a family with much political experience and I will be glad when she is appointed the next senator from NY. I think you (Nybor and Bill/Jeff) will whine and moan about anybody that gets appointed in NY so just keep going.
By the way, you should go back and look at the final results of the presidential election again and see what a landslide it was.........

Tomoo, if you think that being born into a family of politicians gives you political experience, I question your understanding of the word "experience." Caroline Kennedy would make a great senator, I'm sure, but she still doesn't have any experience. Since registering to vote in the late 80's she has voted in about half of the elections and has only donated $1,000 to democrats in the past ten years--a meager sum considering her wealth. She shows a lack of interest in politics in general. Yes, Obama won, thanks to ACORN and thousands of illegitimate votes cast by goldfish, dead dogs, seven year old children, etc. Just go back and review the news from October. Franken is picking and choosing which precinct vote counts help him and refusing to acknowledge the recounts of other precincts that don't benefit him. A democratic judge is allowing hi to do this. Hmmm, isn't that just what Al Gore tried to do? Recount the counties that he was sure he could pick up a few votes in???? Democrats are playing from Saul Alinsky's socialist handbook. Nothing new here.

Our system splits things down the middle. Both sides have to live with the other side.
