The Swamp

Serious words here, from Comedy Central:

"Rod Blagovich,'' blurts Lou Dobbs, the CNN commentator, shown on tape..

"Lou Dobbs cant say a foreign-sounding name, what a surprise,'' Comedy Central's Jon Stewart says, with his Daily Show take on the many accusations facing Gov. Rod Blagojevich, accused in a federal complaint of trying to sell the vacant Senate seat of President-elect Barack Obama.

"What isn't he being charged with?'' Stewart asks - for the answer, in the clip above, viewer discretion is advised,

The governor has moved on from being "a sleazy politician,'' Stewart suggests, to something out of a 19th Century German children's fable.

"Sadly,'' Stewart concludes, "graft is nothing new to Illinois.'' - noting that three of the last seven governors have landed in jail.

Comparing the percentage of that record with the numbers of people who are estimated to get away with murder each year, he concludes: "You are more likely to end up in jail if you become governor of Illinois than if you are a murderer.''

Believe it or not, Illinois is not the most corrupt state in the U.S. Louisana, North Dakota, and Alaska all beat out the Land of Lincoln. Blago should resign immediately. And this giddy childish Republicans have absolutely no room to talk. Just take a look at our Supreme Court appointed President, his illegitimate and inept administration, and the last 8 years. Let the prosecutions begin!!

Had to get beyond the headline to make sure you weren't talking about George Bush and Dick Cheney and Condi and Rummy and Paul and well...I guess Colin can turn state's evidence like Jesse Jr..
This is SMALL POTATOES compared to the FEDERAL GRAFT Fitz's bosses have engaged in over an illegal war.
Murder indeed. 5,000 soldiers and 'contractors'--and as for the people in the region or Halliburtin/KBR/Amoco/Shell war profiteers?
Blago is scum.

He better pull his head out of his ascot, it's a national epidemic. Wall Street, the Boardrooms, the Vice-President, you named them, they have it. It has become America's pastime !! In the meantime, all these thieves think they can throw America a bone, with a trumped-up charges against a sitting Governor, to distract the nation from all of this thievery !! Who do they think they are kidding. Bush's corrupt Justice Department has struck again and nobody seems to care !! Greed wins, America loses !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

John Fund on the Wall Street Journal's editorial page today points out the relationship between the sleeze in Illinois and Barack Obama.

It is powerful reading and it also documents how the media outside Chicago has ignored this.

On Tuesday when Obama said, "I had no contact with the governor or his office" what he really meant was "I met him and shook his hand in front of photographers at the National Governors Association meeting last Tuesday."

For the AP photo of Obama having face to face "contact" with Blagojevich after the election, see http://ace.mu.nu/archives/279535.php

Tthis is the 2nd time this week Obama's been caught lying about Blago.

But who you gonna believe--what you see, or what Obama said?

It's nice to see Democrats finally getting a dose of their own medicine for a change. Though unpopular, George W. Bush navigated an admirable presidency and a successful war, yet the media still jumped all over him. Now it's finally the Democrat's turn.

John Fund is a pure Republican hack whose purpose is to swift boat Democrats. He is an embarrassment to the WSJ.

The hard evidence is indisputable. They have been documenting less stature bribe taking for years and mounting a case. Even before this latest senator seat selling and extorting the Tribune uproar, Blagojevich was being recommended for impeachment by state legislature and editorials. These latest headlines are just frosting on the cake. Blagojevich needs to be taken out NOW, as it will only get worse. The Illinois Attorney General should go to the Supreme Court to have him declared unfit because he surely is that. Blagojevich is a traitor as well as lowlife and deserves a very long time in prison. Up next . . investigate tricky dick Daley!

Boy you guys are sharp as a tack. Yes indeedy, proof positive of a meaningful conversation about his vacant seat. You guys don't miss anything....SHEEEEEESH!

HopeNChange,
How clever of you to leave of the part at the end of Obama's statement. You know the one that clarifies, "....about the open Senate seat" You see, it's possible he shook Blago's hand but did not talk about an open Senate seat. But oops there I go again, using my brain and logic. You can keep spewing your acid invectives and your gullible troll Repbulican goons will continue to believe everything you type.

This has nothing to do with Republican or Democrat. If you'll note, the former (Republican) governor is in jail for corruption. The fact that this time it's a Democrat is not evidence of political bias, simply that Illinois Governors have a belief that they won't get caught. Considering how many of them end up in jail, this is ridiculous... and yet, it persists. Maybe this time... maybe this time...maybe this time it will actually result in a clean-up of the sleazy political machine of Illinois politics. We can only hope. Thank goodness for Pat Fitzgerald!!!!

I can't wait when its George Bush, Daley, and Todd Stroger turn for investigation. Then both parties will be even.

"janet" and "bill r" deliberately re-write what Obama said yesterday, in order to get him off the hook for lying.

Obama said he had NO CONTACT with the governor since the election. Not "no contact about the senate seat". NO CONTACT. Period.

The photo shows Obama lied. But I can see why Obama's faith-based loyalists cling to their denials. Faced with a choice of questioning their Messiah, or denying the photographic evidence, most loyalists will cling to their faith.

Hi,
I am a 24 year old college graduate who works at an engineering firm in central Illinois. I am in no way involved in Illinois politics. If 3 weeks, 3 months ago even, someone asked me if Rod Blago was a liar and a thief, I would have said, "absolutely."
Did I think he would try to sell a seat in the Senate? No, I figured he'd take it himself. What am I getting at here? If a guy like me, who has nothing to do with the affairs of the state of Illinois knows that the governor is as crooked as an S, how can Barack Obama tell me that he had no idea this was going on? Obama will lie to your face, as he did through the entire presidential race, and the people... they'll eat it up.
Obama, not friends with terrorists, or crooks.
Sure, he isn't holding the smoking gun.

You can say all you want about Blago, but until there is evidence that Obama has anythign to do with this "deal", you reps can find something to cry about... just don't down in that sorrow, you have have to be ready for 2012!!

I like the current state of the counrty to that of Rome. which of the current losers plays a fiddle?

seems all thats missing is a large fire...

Matt, democrats and republicans are criminalized to basically the same extent; each by the opposing party.

Hope, Freddy, I challenge you to name a politician from the last 30 who you can prove beyond a doubt hasn't lied to the public. If you can, it's probably someone pretty obscure, or they didn't get the position they were running for.

But some are mild, and some are terrible. Rod is getting to be terrible.
Democrat, Republican or otherwise, corrupt, is still corrupt.

Even if Obama was somehow involved with Rod, which I am not speaking for or against, I can say this; Obama did not extort a children's hospital.

Can we try to get the people that do horrible things like that kicked out of office instead of complaining about things that are unrelated?

Don't blame the party.
Don't blame politics.
It's the people.

Cause really, if we had more politicians that cared about the issues that effect the country than the size of their wallets, maybe thousands of people wouldn't be loosing there jobs, and maybe the economy wouldn't be as horrid as it is.

Everyone else; Stop complaining about Bush, he's got about a month left, unless he sets off a nuclear bomb, there isn't much he can do that would cause anymore damage. Whats done is done, I can understand trying to learn from it so that mistakes made wont be repeated, but just whining isn't constructive.

I am not for either party, I am for whoever does the best job. If more people did this, the country would be better.

WELL-THE GOV HAS A GOOD HEAD OF HAIR-
UNFORTUNATLY-NOT
MUCH OF VALUE UNDER
IT!

Illinois is impossibly corrupt. Take a look at all the top offices especially IDPH. (Which is frightening, because although I am an Obama fan, he said he trusted the recommendation of Dr. Eric Whitaker on the senate seat.) Dr. Whitaker is at the helm of IDPH.

If you attempt to bring attention to corruption in the banks, courts, you receive a post card before being belittled or ignored. The Office of Lisa Madigan supports attorney abuses on clients.

Imagine a large bank writing a predatory trust on a mentally disabled veteran, (PTSD:WWII) which grants the bank total distribution powers, unlimited billing with no accountability. NO ONE WANTS TO SEE OR EXAMINE THE TRUST WHICH DID NOT BENEFIT THE WARD OF THE RESIDUAL HEIRS.

WHERE DOES ONE GO?

It is not party affiliated, but may be political with the time. Corruption won't stop, it is too profitable. The OFfice of Banks ignores the issue.

I have crates of documentation but no one will look at it. Larry Trent, Director of State Police is involved. See my evidence.
