Karl Rove, architect of President Bush's election campaigns, sees a certain "continuity'' in the selections that President-elect Barack Obama has made in the assembly of his national security team.
"There will be a continuity in Iraq,'' Rove told Matt Lauer, on NBC's Today Show, noting the historic acceptance of Bush's Defense Secretary, Bob Gates, for a new Cabinet. "There will be changes, of course.''
On the economy - with data revealing that a recession has been underway for a year - Rove notes that there is widespread agreement among economists of all partisan stripe on the need for government intervention.
Asked about Obama's agenda for his "First 100 Days,'' Rove said this: "It is only the economy, and they ought to stay focused on that,'' adding: "100 days is a bad measure. It's really 180 days... 180 days is roughly the time between a president's inauguration and the time that Congress goes out for its first break. ''
