It may not be enough that Chip Saltsman, a candidate for chairman of the Republican National Committee, has recycled that bad Barack the Magic Negro tune in a CD of satirical songs that he has circulated to fellow Republicans. The tracks also include "The Star Spanglish Banner.''
Radio's Rush Limbaugh already has been raked over the politically correct coals for supporting the tasteless takeoff on Puff the Magic Dragon that plays on racial prejudices about Barack Obama, president-elect of the United States. But now Saltsman, courting support for the national party's chairmanship, has recycled the sad tune as part of a 41-tune CD of political songs by conservative satirist Paul Shanklin, as Politico.com tells the tale.
"Jose, can you see...
"Barack the magic Negro, lives in D.C...'' ("Close-captioned for the thinking -impaired.'')
You get the drift.
Party tactician Chip Saltsman sent an emailing to RNC members with an attachment of political songs by the satirist Shanklin, according to Politico. The 41-track CD entitlled We Hate the USA includes other songs lampooning liberals, according to The Hill, such as Wright Place, Wrong Pastor, Love Client #9 and The Star Spanglish Banner
. Saltsman was former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's campaign manager during the 2008 presidential primaries.
RNC Chairman Mike Duncan, seeking another term as chairman of the national party, has blasted Saltsman's tactics in a statement released today, according to Politico.
"The 2008 election was a wake-up call for Republicans to reach out and bring more people into our party,'' Duncan says today. " I am shocked and appalled that anyone would think this is appropriate as it clearly does not move us in the right direction.''
Hear here. Wear where?

Good for Duncan. Unfortunately, you can't fix stupid. And the anti-intellect party trolls will continue to drive their party further into extinction. So there is an up side.
Plus, the guy's name is Chip.
Crikey.

The excuse the Limbaugh's, Saltsman's and the RNC etc always provide is: "Oh, we were just kidding! It was just a Parody!"
One thing is very clear. Limbaugh and the RNC recipients who laughed at this deplorable excuse for humor are, without a doubt, Racist for doing this. This would be similar to sending out a CD with "Nazi Ovens were Fun!" or "Japanese Internment Camps provide Enjoyable Summers!" or "The Trail of Tears is good Camping!" More FUN Parodies!
The Republican National Committee JUST DOES NOT GET IT!! They have yet to refute Limbaugh for his racist tactics. and they won't because they agree with him.
We are a Nation of Immigrants, of ALL Ethnicities! We are ALL EQUAL!!
Our Country is NOT about the Privileged Only! We do not Pander to the Rich Bankers! (except under Bush Economics!) The RNC´s Reign of Terror is OVER!!!
Will the Republicans ever get it? Will they ever understand that until they STOP their Racist Ways and be willing to accept and embrace ALL of us Americans of Color, WE WILL NOT VOTE FOR YOU EVER AGAIN! Will they ever, ever refute Limbaugh OR his tactics?... WE LATINOS and MINORITIES ARE WAITING!

I'm an Anglo-Saxon female who takes as much offense to this crap cd as any ethnic group certainly would. The white supremist culture of the 1950's is dead in 21st century America. Whites will soon become the minority in this country, and all of us 'white' Americans need to wake up to this fact and embrace all ethnic groups as equals. America is the world's melting pot. We are ALL in this together.

Republicans just don't do funny. I don't know exactly what it is; the underlying tones of mysogyny, parochialism, elitism, or racism, but, Republicans have all the deft satirical touch of a jackhammer wielded by Rudolf Hess's funnier younger brother. I give you the "1/2 Hour News Hour" from the good folks at Faux News as the prosecution's exhibit A. Republicans just can't pull it off. Everybody claimed John McCain was back to his funny previous self on Letterman post election. The guy still creeps me out. Kind of like a really bad Vegas lounge singer from the 1970's. Pretentious, fake self-loathing, and that smile(insert shudder here) makes my skin crawl as does Bush's constant smirk.
Sadly for Republicans, they don't want to learn; they have had success in demonizing "the other" for years, and failed to notice the shift in demographics - they are still chasing a shrinking base of racists.

It took him that long to realize he can make some political hay, in condemning the moronic song !! The ridiculous Republicans, can't help, stepping all over their stupidity and they wonder why, nobody likes them, anymore !!! What a big bag of rocks !!

Of course it's racist. What else would you expect from the Kooks of Hazzard? The GOP has become a party predominately oriented towards the traditional values of the rural South. This is just the latest example of their plantation mentality.

Mike Duncan has the same name as the actor, Michael Clarke Duncan who was born on the south side of Chicago.
Chicago is home to President Elect Barack Obama, Tony Rezko and Rahm Emmanuel.
Chicago politics are dirty and sleazy.
Ergo, RNC Chairman Mike Duncan is a dirty, sleazy member of the corrupt Chicago Machine.

I doesn’t matter if it is parody or not. That it’s being distributed among RNC officials shows what a bunch of total idiots the RNC has come to be. The RNC is so removed from the ideals of the electorate that they don’t even understand the backlash against their sophomoric black-man jokes. It might be funny if a radio hack like Limbaugh pushes this juvenile humor, but real politicians actually running for committee leadership? White ones at that? What’s next? Menstrual jokes about Sen Clinton?? No, its not illegal or “dangerous” to make racial or disgusting fun of the president or any other elected official, but it is a guaranteed recipe to get your ass kicked from the media and the public. The President Elect is a flippin’ hero to the public… but Republicans don't realize that. To them he is an undeserving politician who to be ridiculed for his race. What a bunch of morons! What do they want… sixteen years out?

In 1968 Richard Nixon executed his "southern strategy", which pealed racist whites away from the Democratic Party. But they brought Christian Fundamentalism with them, and the big tent got to smelling so bad that by 2008, everyone else had left. Now, the GOP is a regional, southern party that supports letting the American auto industry ie because they are beholden to foreign auto makers, and smirks at parody songs with the word "negro" in the title. They ought to read up on the Whig Party. Anyone remember them?

And as far as commemorative coins being minted (commemorative, not currency) and one school voting to change their name, if you can't see the historical significance of Mr. Obama's election, then I don't think I'd be able to explain it to you.

It's hard to pick the most obvious embarrassment for Republicans here. That the party's favorite right-wing blowhard (Rush Limbaugh) would promote such a song on his radio show? That a candidate for RNC chair would use the song as a Christmas gift? That the candidate for RNC chair would assume that Republican Party leaders would enjoy it?
That Mike Duncan would wait 22 hours before saying anything about this, only denouncing Saltsman -- a rival for his job -- after the media noted that party leaders had only offered "odd silence" in response to the story?

BUSH THE FECKLESS CONMAN BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE GOP
(to the melody of Barack the Magic Negro or Puff the Magic Dragon)
WilliamBanzai7
Bush, the feckless conman brought to you by the GOP
Frolicked with the hypocrites of the grand old party of dishonesty,
Little Dicky Cheney loved that rascal Bush,
And brought him water boards, illegal wire taps and other fancy stuff. oh
Bush, the feckless conman brought to you by the GOP
Frolicked with the hypocrites of the grand old party of dishonesty
Bush, the feckless conman brought to you by the GOP
Frolicked with the hypocrites of the grand old party of dishonesty
Together they would travel on a Presidential yacht filled with felons, child molesters, liars and corrupt political appointees.
Dickie kept a lookout while Dubya huffed and puffed and failed his own country,
Hastert, Delay, Foley, Craig, Vitter, Gonzalez, Libby, Stevens, Brownie, Rummy the list's too long to explain,
Somali pirate ships should all lower their flags to honor the Republican hall of shame. oh!
Bush, the feckless conman brought to you by the GOP
Frolicked with the hypocrites of the grand old party of dishonesty
Bush, the feckless conman brought to you by the GOP
Frolicked with the hypocrites of the grand old party of dishonesty
A dragon lives forever but not so the two faced, lying and corrupt
West wings and campaign finance rings make way for boy toys behind bars.
One grey night it happened, Barack came knocking on the White House door
And Bush that cagey conman, ceased his feckless roar.
His head was bent in sorrow, the neocons cried in pain,
Dickie could no longer play along the Camp David lane.
Outside the oval office, Dubya could not be brave,
So Bush that feckless conman sadly slipped into his Crawford cave. oh!
Bush, the feckless conman brought to you by the GOP
Frolicked with the hypocrites of the grand old party of dishonesty
Bush, the feckless conman brought to you by the GOP
Frolicked with the hypocrites of the grand old party of dishonesty

I am so sick and tired of all the double-standard crap coming from the liberal-socialist left. It seems if anyone on the left side of the isle does anything that could be considered out of line, it gets passed over as either freedom of speech, or that's my culture, or I can use the N word but you better not, or I can call my black woman a Ho, but no one else can refer to anyone of color that way.
It's in the rapcrap music, the language, and the overall attitude, period.
Being white it has become perfectly acceptable for me to be refered to as Whitey, Cracker, Redneck, Honkey, White Bread, and dozens of other derogatory names I don't like or appreciate.
The double-standard where it comes to the issues of black vs. white, or Obama vs. ANYONE else is simply another poor excuse of a liberal-socialist trying to cover up, evade, and distort the inadequacies of the socialist movement and their lack of true belief, faith and support of and for the Constitution of the United States and all that It represents.

I wonder when RNC chair Mike Duncan received said wake up call. Just a few months ago, he protested with deafening silence when his party's ticket for president (McCain/Palin) decided to employ the "other" strategy against Barack Obama.
The fact is racial polarization has been a Republican trademark for decades, and, as evidence by Palin's soaring post-election popularity, old habits die hard.
Indeed, the GOP's homogeneity has become a punchline even among Republicans, and Duncan's assertion that the GOP must grudgingly open its platform to include the real America is a practical reality.
But, as Jerry Seinfeld once pointedly told an unusually ambitious Costanza: -"Good luck with all that!"

This is one of the main reasons why the Republican party is dead and not fit for party status in the United States any longer. There are many other worthy & respectable parties in this country that could easily take the place of the Republican party.
The Green Party, the Libertarian Party, the Progressive Party etc.. would all be much more beneficial for the United States then a party whose sole platform is to divide the country and alienate entire races.
America is not a white country or a black or brown or any other color the racists would have you think. America is a multi-racial country. This is the strength of the United States.
One of our greatest abilities is to show that people from all over the world can live free together and use the strengths of each other to make our country even greater. Not to use divisive tactics because your party has nothing to contribute but destruction and corruption.
It is time that the last nail in the coffin was set into the dying ideologies of the Republican party. For too long they have resembled the worst that politicians have to offer. For too long they have played on peoples fear in order to set the country against itself and bankrupt it at the same time.
That is not to say that everyone should become a Democrat.
In fact, it is to say that the time for 3rd party inclusion is now.
America is too big, too dynamic and too wonderful to only have a 2 party system. Republicans can either change or they can stay the same simple minded people who have tarnished the work of America's forefathers and tarnished relations with our neighbors around the world. Either way it is time for a 3rd party and its time to put the racism of the old boys club where it belongs, In the past with all the other failed institutions that did nothing for humanity but turn the poor against the poor.
Racism is a tool used by the rich to divide the poor against each other.
Divide the poor and you keep them weak.
Keep the poor weak and you can continue to exploit them.
Beware the rich man that points and tells you where to hate.
Think about it.

It would seem the gist of the "Pro" comments are either "Get over it" or "My poor little double standard feelings have been hurt", along with some racist masquerading as a Marine.
Tell Chip the magic bigot to get over it. We wouldn't be having this conversation but for Chip the magic bigot. We should pity Chip the magic bigot but we wont ignore this. All the Republicans with a brain have said that this was inappropriate. A very small minority supports this behavior.
To those who cry double standard I guess you will just have to keep crying. Hilary's campaign dropped the ball and let Obama sneak right up on her with a 50 state strategy that proved very effective. Hilary is moving forward you should too. On the bright side we are finally getting rid of Comrade George Bush, the biggest spender and taker of our rights and freedoms any of us has ever seen. Its interesting that the small "Get over it" minority doesn't seem to realize that the very thing they profess to dislike the most has been leading the country for the past eight years. Good riddance George Bush!

The problem that the RNC must deal with is perception, if anyone remembers the pictures from the McCain campaign they were Lilly white for the most part. The pictures did not give anyone the idea that the party is inclusive. The pictures from McCain's concession speech and the fact that he had to tell his supporters to be kind and accepting of the newly elected President, also reinforces the impression of a mostly white party made up of older Caucasian people and their children. With this in mind then play the CD and you will see that it can only be divisive and demeaning to all people that are non white. If you are white and have never been denied a hotel room, service in a restaurant, a loan, a job, consideration for a promotion, entry into a school of your choice or any other basic right, then your ability to be understanding of the plight of non white people could be explainable. This so called harmless gift, reminds us of all the bad things that we have experienced in this Caucasian controlled society.
When we consider our current plight and the pictures of all of the masterminds of the demise of the financial institutions, the housing industry, the retail sector, the auto industry, the nations infrastructure, and the largest grand theft in the history of the nation, note those pictures don't show any people of color - maybe we need a Magic Negro.

As xinunus has noted here, this parody is based on an opinion article written by David Ehrenstein of the LA Times. I am thinking that Mr. Ehrenstein is probably not a low-life Republican in any form.
Obama has been promoted by the democrat faithful as this saintly being, from Chicago by the way, that can right all wrongs, a brilliant, transformative, Lincolnesque, Kennedyesque, Jeffersonian, FDR New Deal Re-Do, dynamic, electrifying figure that can do all great things for the betterment of all mankind in the entire world, including evil sub-human Republicans. He is Christ Re-Incarnate. Only better, because there are no real religious requirements or sacrifices on the acolyte's part. Just can't beat that. So yeah, he just may be subject to some skepticism for those of us that have not yet come up to the table and partaked of the Obama koolade.
Is this really racist? Maybe it just isn't the proper way to worship this transformative, brilliant, etc., etc. great leader. George Bush has been called far worse things than anything in this parody, practically on a daily basis, over his last term. Is this hypocritical?
Lightning Bolt Thought - Senator Joe Biden was heavily criticized for paying Obama a genuine compliment during the preliminaries. Political Correctness. Our faux pas, democrats. The great Obama has not shown himself to be this thin skinned, but we consistently underestimate Political Correctness. Maybe one of those new schools that gets built will be for Political Correctness, forced attendance for All Republicans.

Leave it to a corrupt journalist like Mark Silva to not mention that the Barack the Magic Negro name came from a liberal LA Times columnist, which inspired Limbaugh and Shanklin to satirize the column. The song satirizes the column and the way the media fawns over Obama. But then facts and the Chicago Tribune Washington Bureau have nothing in common.

Mr Ellis, you are an imbecile of colossal proportions if it doesn't compute in your troglodytic brain that disseminating a song with the title "Barack The Magic Negro" is a racist, hateful, sophomoric act.
But that's just it: Deep-seated ignorance and ethnocentrism like this stunts one's sense of morality, perpetuates stupidity, and leaves one not knowing what one doesn't know. So yes, I'm sure you think this is perfectly harmless.
