I'm sorry, babies are born by the scores (if not thousands - don't know the numbers - have better things to do with my time) to unwed mothers all across America EVERY DAY - we don't think they're worth the news, so why is the daughter of this former beauty queen with no brains and less talent such a big deal. Congratulations grandma Palin - you've joined a WHOLE lot of grandma's of "bastards" - it's the proper terminology for children of unwed parents - look it up!
And US Newspapers - unless you want to take this woman's threat to run for president in 2012 seriously (please by all the powers that be - NO), can we stop obsessing about the tiniest aspects of her life? She's a has been who already had her 15 minutes of fame - let it go!

But as I recall, the story about the pregnancy was out, and the VP nominee merely confirmed it with the media. Anyway, you're so right, Silva - we shouldn't treat the daughters of politicians as off-limits. To that end, we will expect a full daily report on the lives of the Obama girls - right here on the Swamp. I know, they're cute and deserve to have a normal life. But since the media is so vociferous in their claim of equal treatment, anything goes, right? So, please report to everyone who the kids' best friends are (home addresses of them, too please). Oh, and we need to know which boys in school they have crushes on. Copies of all of their homework, plus grades, have to be published for our scrutiny. Oh, and when the time comes, please inform us when they become sexually active. Oh heck, let's just fit them with GPS devices and have cameras on them 24/7. Fair game, right? And you guys wonder why the public holds you in such great contempt?

Silva can only speculate on Palin's news sources as she was unable to name ONE during an all-too-infrequent campaign interview. Oh, that nasty, evil media must have been after something...and here goes again. You betcha.

Does anyone remember the vicious rumors that Gov. Palin faked her pregnancy, Bristol gave birth to Trig and possibly Todd was the father? The internet was abuzz with these rumors and the mainstream media ran stories on it days before Palin was to give her first speech at the Republican convention.

It was a well-coordinated hit job to destroy Palin's image before she could introduce herself to America.

I guess, Bristol's birth now proves those rumors wrong. Will America hear an apology from the DailyKos, Huffington Post and the MSM?

I read that little Tripp's photos have allegedly been sold to People Magazine for $300,000, yet the governor claims his birth is a private family matter.

What an interesting rewrite of history, in saying that they announced her pregnancy, but now say it's a private matter.

I love how Republicans rail against sex outside of marriage and unwed mothers (remember Dan Quayle and Murphy Brown?), but when it's one of their own, it's suddenly a "private family matter" and we're all supposed to respectfully back off. What a convenient double standard. They can dish out the judgment but can't take it.

Unwed mothers is not a perfect scenario for raising children. More often than not those kids are hurt in that situation and often lead lives then end up in trouble. HOWEVER, in this instance, the young couple plan to marry and both father and mother have the support and love of their parents in this matter. There was no abortion either, so this baby has a pretty darn good chance of growing up in a safe and loving environment.
As far as family privacy matters, Chelsea was off limits and apparently still is, and the media respected the Clinton's wishes. Even though the Bush family asked for the media to leve the Twins alone, the media did not. Now, the Obama family has asked the media to leave their girls alone and it seems the media is respecting those wishes. But the media is infatuated with Palin's family and her daughter. As usual, the media picks and chooses with double standards running amok. The media: Corrupt to the hilt.

You make no sense, Bemused, but at least you got thru an entire rant without the words "Hillary" and "sexism;" now let's work on your condescension. The family confirms that a baby was born, and you condemn the entire media for it.

Earnest in Evanston, when we hear Faux News, Rush Limbaugh, John Birch, etc apologize for the vicious rumors they to spread about Obama, Clinton, John Kerry, Democrats in general, Atheists, and everyone else they smeared, then Palin herself says she's sorry about the lies she had told (and make it a real apology not a fake GOP-it's-really-your-fault apology), then we'll consider it.

Unfortunately the press has become so "free" that they can no longer be trusted. It is regrettable because I thought that the press was one place I could go to get an unbiased account of what was happening in my world. It has become a tabloid. It is pitiful that greed and power have overcome our gate keepers. However, I should not be surprised as it was said long ago that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely and the press and mainstream media has shown this to be true. Those who have chosen to focus on the rhetoric won’t even respectfully listen to the opinions of others any more. The discourse on this site is also a testimony to the way Americans have sunk to weighing their decisions on the scale of emotion which the media places its "weights" upon so effectively. The discussion here shows that Americans no longer discern fact from fiction and have lost the ability to weed through information and discard that which is NOT necessary to make a determination. Both of these people are highly motivated, intelligent people who have dedicated their lives to the service of their country. Our words about BOTH of them should be colored with respect, even if one disagrees with their politics. John D. - I don't need you to educate me. Also, simply because this young couple plans to marry certainly does NOT mean that all's well that ends well. If they do get married at this early stage of life, chances are very strong that the marriage won't last long, and Bristol will end up on her own. I am of the opinion that Bristol Palin's baby is possibly black, as was stated earlier by the black rapper in Los Angeles, Ca. And perhaps this is why she and the governor are being so secretive about photos being seen by the public. Also, being a retired journalist and publisher, I can believe that the Anchorage Daily News and other publications there in Alaska can- not get a picture. Sad, sad, sad.

Sara Palins grandson's middle name is Easton. Lisa Ann the girl that played Palin in the who's nailin palin movie is from Easton, PA. Sara must have been a big fan of the porno lol
