I'd say that picture sums it up. Too bad Obama didn't get to spend his first 100 days aquiring a golf handicap like the last president.

Yes, the guys over at MAD really hit this one on the head....unfortunately. I'll take the MAD cover over the New Yorker's any day.

This picture explains everything. He is going to have to learn to deal with the stress that is dumped on him by our former President. I can never forget the MAD issue that came out in November 1960. I received my copy the day after Election Day. I looked at the cover, and it said, "MAD congratulates John F. Kennedy on his election as President! We were with you all the way, Jack!" I was wondering, "How did they know, given what a close election it was?" Then I turned the magazine over and saw the opposite cover, which read, "MAD congratulates Richard M. Nixon on his election as President! We were with you all the way, Dick!"
Inside, the 48 pages were numbered 1 to 24 right side up and 1 to 24 upside down.

I enjoyed the article, but I was surprised to see Frank James repeat the false claim that Obama is faced with the worst recession since the great depression. This country has seen several recessions that were worse than what we are facing now. The recession during the Carter administration was a disaster.

I am amazed and disappointed in the number of people blinded and programmed by the media. Bush's first 100 days consisted of flitering through the mess of the election, to fixing the damage to the white house computers left by the Clinton children (staff). Bush kept us safe after 9/11. Most of the problems caused during the Bush Administration were caused by Congress and years of really stupid fiscal policies. Be sure to forget that it was Bush administration officials and John McCain who warned that what actually ended up happening was going to happen, and that your guys ridiculed them for it.

Bill R. makes an interesting, albeit inaccurate, statement. However some facts need to be pointed out:

1) The last two years of Congress have been controlled by a Democratic majority. Any financial woes this country has can easily be afforded to them.

2) The last Congress controlled by Republicans had very few fiscal conservatives. That includes the former president. A note to all you liberals out there, being Republican does not mean being Conservative.

3) When Congress was controlled by Conservative Republicans (I believe Bill R. brought up Newt Gingrich and the Contract With America), the United States had an extremely positive economy. While the liberals like to attribute this to former president Clinton, I'd like to remind them that Congress makes the budget, not the president.

So, to blame Bush soley would be historically inaccurate considering the history of the failure of the GSE's and the interference from Democrats in Congress and the budgets on non-conservatives in both Houses and the former presidency.

I would like to paraphrase Obama and suggest liberals stop listening to Chris Mathews (thrill or no thrill up that leg) because his opinion isn't going to get you anywhere.

Jimmy Carter left office with a far worse ecomony in 1981. Worst recession since the great depression? Are you joking?

Think back 20 years and double digit inflation and interest rates over 20 percent. The problem with the media and many people is that they have a selective memory when it comes to history.

The real issue is that everyone on these boards blames everyone else for the problems. We need to start hold both of these worthless parties accountable for the mess this country is in. ALL of the politicians in Washington should be in jail. One year of prison for every year in Congress would work. No more pensions, no more benefits when the leave congress, and a lifetime ban on lobbing or working for lobbing firms or government contractors.

Instead of attacking each other on these boards – call your representatives every day. Shut down the switch boards and maybe they won’t spend everyday listening to the lobbyist. We give the power to Washington they don’t give us our rights.

It doesn’t matter what side of the issue you are on – call your representative and hold them accountable for their criminal acts. The national debt is the fault of both parties – only congress can spend money by law and both parties controlled congress at some point in the last 20 years. I don’t care – they are all guilty.

We have $12 trillion in debt, Medicare and Medicaid are $36 trillion in debt, and social security is $105 trillion in debt. That is ten times the GDP. All the tax hikes in the world will not ever pay this debt. Think about that – that is $153 trillion divided by 300 million people and that means everyone owes $510,000 to pay off this debt. Do you have that money? Now we want to spend more. Who is going to pay? Every dollar made in this country in one year will only cover one tenth of this debt.

I say let's stop attacking and blaming each other and unite as Americans. Did Bush fail us in some ways? Yes. Did he protect us and do some good for us? I think it's safe to say all presidents have done some good things for us and screwed us in some way. I don't want to get into detail who did better for us or who screwed us up more, what does that matter? I didn't vote for Obama, but I accept he is our president and I hope he succeeds because if he can fix this issue we, as Americans succeed. At December's U.N. Global Warming conference in Poznan, Poland, 650 of the world's top climatologists stood up and said man-made global warming is a media generated myth without basis. Said climatologist Dr. David Gee, Chairman of the International Geological Congress, "For how many years must the planet cool before we begin to understand that the planet is not warming?"
I asked myself, why would such obviously smart guy say such a ridiculous thing? But it turns out he's right.

The earth's temperature peaked in 1998. It's been falling ever since; it dropped dramatically in 2007 and got worse in 2008, when temperatures touched 1980 levels.

Meanwhile, the University of Illinois' Arctic Climate Research Center released conclusive satellite photos showing that Arctic ice is back to 1979 levels. What's more, measurements of Antarctic ice now show that its accumulation is up 5 percent since 1980.

In other words, during what was supposed to be massive global warming, the biggest chunks of ice on earth grew larger. Just as an aside, do you remember when the hole in the ozone layer was going to melt Antarctica? But don't worry, we're safe now, that was the nineties.

Dr. Kunihiko, Chancellor of Japan's Institute of Science and Technology said this: "CO2 emissions make absolutely no difference one way or the other ... every scientist knows this, but it doesn't pay to say so." Now why would a learned man say such a crazy thing?

This is where the looney left gets lost. Their mantra is atmospheric CO2 levels are escalating and this is unquestionably causing earth's temperature rise. But ask yourself -- if global temperatures are experiencing the biggest sustained drop in decades, while CO2 levels continue to rise -- how can it be true?

Ironically, in spite of being shown false, we must now pray for it. Because a massive study, just released by the Russian Government, contains overwhelming evidence that earth is on the verge of another Ice Age.

Based on core samples from Russia's Vostok Station in Antarctica, we now know earth's atmosphere and temperature for the last 420,000 years. This evidence suggests that the 12,000 years of warmth we call the Holocene period is over.

Apparently, we're headed into an ice age of about 100,000 years -- give or take. As for CO2 levels, core samples show conclusively they follow the earth's temperature rise, not lead it.

It turns out CO2 fluctuations follow the change in sea temperature. As water temperatures rise, oceans release additional dissolved CO2 -- like opening a warm brewsky.

To think, early last year, liberals suggested we spend 45 trillion dollars and give up five million jobs to fix global warming. But there is good news: now that we don't have to spend any of that money, we can give it all to the banks.

No amount of training could prepare Obama for this job, it would be difficult for almost anyone. The problem is that he doesn't have the character to handle the pressures of the office. I am glad to see there are others out there that don't view Obama as a god-like figure, as the media portrays him and so many of the liberal brainwashed sheep believe. Obama is not the solution to all our problems. But who would be, really? Nobody. No one person is going to magically make this country's problems go away, and magically make the world unite. And what about Bush? Is this all his fault? No. So then was he a good President? Absolutely not. There are three major factors that have made the mess that this country is experiencing right now, and it's not the Democrats, or the Republicans, or the War, or anything like that. 1) It is politicians from all parties who only act in their own best intersts, not the best interests of the people they represent, or in the interest of the Constitution, which so few of them follow anymore. 2) It is greed, not even corporations as a whole, but the greedy individuals in positions of power in major financial institutions, who have carelessly invested billions of their company's dollars in ventures that they knew would crash and burn (see mortgage pools, interest only loans, collateral debt obligations, etc.) in order to make the quick commission now. 3) The lazy, blame everyone else, instant gratification, charge it now worry about it later attitude of many (but certainly not all) Americans.
Everyone should think about these things before they blame it all on Bush or Clinton or look to Obama to solve it all. And, blame the media, but people need to get over Obama's race. I don't care if he is black, white, purple, or green, and neither should anyone else. Being a minority is not automatically going to make him great (or bad for that matter). The media pushed the race card, and people followed along and put importance on it. I did not vote for him, or for McCain for that matter, and I don't agree with many of the policies of either of them, but whoever is President, love him or hate him, love his party or hate his party, we better all hope he does well, because this nation needs the positive morale right now. The invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq may not have proved to have been the best course of action (the jury is still out), but the president did not act arbirtrarily or unilaterally. He sought and got the consent of Congress, the UN, and the leaders of many different nations.

Mr. Obama owes his election, in big part, to the downturn in the economy. You may want to blame the former president, but Congress had it's hands in that pie as well. It was not a surprise attack. He should not be stressed out.

His party now controls both houses of Congress and he continues to enjoy the unbridled enthusiasm of most of the lap dog media.

Mad Magazine has always done parodies of the presidents and they all look like Alfred E. Neuman. I've never seen one quite like this one though. They didn't put Alfred's ears on B. Wow. Nothing about Obama's 1st 100 minutes in office smack of this. In true form, Obama always 'keeps it cool.' I think it's amazing that everyone is assuming that he has an issue with the work load. Personally, he strikes me as the type that welcomes the challenge, and genuinely concerns himself with the prosperity of his countrymen. I love MADD, but I think they're out of step with this one. This spurs me on to find Mad on the newsstand. It proves that the President, any president, can be spoofed without his critics being mean and nasty. It was worth the laugh when a laugh is needed. I have as much on the line as one who is working (I am retired). Barack is doing his best even without the support I had hoped for from the Republicans. The GOP is just too far to the right for this hope to exist. I do not find the Dems as polarized to the left. That is a good thing. There is room for folks at the edges but the President (and the country) needs more centrist support and the GOP just cannot rise to the occasion. That is sad. So Barack "is not a sap" on this issue. I wouldn't have thought so but it is nice that he made that crystal clear. I am glad to see the press right in his face on the issues and still able to laugh with him.
