Gueess who's coming to dinner Saturday night?

Palin in a parka.jpg

President Barack Obama and Sarah Palin -- they won't actually arrive together, but both are expected at the exclusive and private Alfalfa Club dinner for Washington's elite.

They've already been in touch -- sort of.

Palin, the unsuccessful Republican vice presidential nominee (and pictured above, Palin in the parka, in a photo from Vogue), "was worried that the Army was going to cut off pensions to the state's old-timers long-retired from the Alaska Territorial Guard,'' our colleague, Andrew Malcolm, at The Ticket, writes " So she sat down and wrote a letter to the new big guy himself, Democrat President Barack Obama, who's vowed to take extra special care of veterans.''

"And, what do you know? According to the ever-vigiliant Sarah Palin for President blog, the Army suddenly decided it didn't really need to cut off those payments after all,'' Malcolm reports. "It found a special fund to pay them, while Sens. Lisa Murkowski, a Republican, and Mark Begich, a Democrat, together shepherd the proper authorizing legislation through Congress.''

Saturday, both are expected at off-the-record black tie dinner of the Alfalfa Club, one of those fraternity-like get-togethers that Washingtonians schedule throughout the year

Not that anybody is thinking of 2012. Palin, as The Ticket reported this week, formed her own SarahPAC, to raise money for, you know, activities.

Malcolm adds: "According to Paul Bedard over at Washington Whispers, Palin's presence in D.C. has sparked an interview bidding war between CNN's Larry King, who's had seven wives and almost as many heart attacks, and ABC's George Stephanopoulos, who hasn't.''

I believe in Gov. Palin and her ability to get things done!

private Alfalfa Club dinner for Washington's elite.

The danger is there could be elite media also there too and also not much talk of job creation also too.

Sarah? Attending an elitist dinner in Washington DC with a socialist who palls around with terrorists?? What would Rush Limp-paw say?

Sarah Palin is a waste of time. She is mainly responsible for destroying McCain's run for president and her separatist and divisive agenda is not what 21st Century America needs. Palin should stay in Alaska, sit on her porch and keep an eye on Russia for us. While sitting there she can share a six pack with her hunting buddies and pop off afew coyotes. YOU BETCHA!

Subtly is not her strong point, having that brief taste of real power, she will do anything to get out of Alaska

I believe in Gov. Palin and her ability to get things done!

And you are a bozo, I betcha!

Her pose is disgusting. Oohhh! Look at me! I have a small waist!

She looks SO much better without the glasses. Almost human.

Sarah Palin has what the 21st century needs, but the people rejects him and that is Jesus Christ! She does not hide the fact that she depends on him. When the anti-christ takes over those who are "believers" won't be around for your grievances and sorrows that is coming!!!!!! The 21st century needs to return to what our founding fathers built this nation upon and that is God!!!

This nation got into this trouble by trying to take God out of everything and He has just stepped back and let prophecy happen! Wait until we have another tradegy and see how quickly people start calling on God, again, for a while! Oh, well, truth usually goes unheeded!

It's nice to see that losers get so much media attention. I guess it's better than focussing on the disasters her party caused the last 8 years.

Well I think Sarah Palin is trying to get an in as Obama's mistress. She can run in 2012 and lose badly to Obama. Sorry Sarah not a chance in 2012 or ever!!!!!

Sarah Palin is a waste of time. She's a non-entity who has absolutely no chance of getting into public office outside Alaska. She is the main reason grandpa McCain was smeared all over the map on 11/04/08.

but the people rejects him and that is Jesus Christ!

Praise the Lord brother. I found him in the smile Of Tom Delays' mug shot. He talked to me through Bushs' Iraq war. And it was good. He taught me to lay down in pastures because they forclosed on my home. Which God do you like best? Ours, Allah, Budda.......

Caribou Barbie wants to pal around with a man who she says pals around with terrorists. What a twit! What a goof! What a maroon!

By golly. You betcha.

McCain lost because he was too old and had ties to Bush. To blame Palin for his lost is dumb. BHO won not because he was the best and greatest person, but that GW and the war give him an advantage - I voted for Clinton with a write in..That is not saying that Palin does not have some issues ( as we all do), but some of this bashing is over the top from people that never held office or ever will -- just a bunch of sore winners..

You want bashing? Flip on Sean Vannity and Faux News. Turn on the pirate of the AM airwaves, Limpbag. As just reported in another thread....his audience is the conservative base. There you can witness 24/7 decieving, out right lying, and spewing of the most misleading garbage one could ask for.

I'm a follower of Jesus Christ and want other readers to know that "Skully" and other Palin adherents do NOT speak for me, the majority of believers, or the true message of Christianity (and I find Bill R's snarky response to Skully entirely appropriate in this context). If, as Skully and others say, "This nation got into this trouble by trying to take God out of everything", then I suppose we had it wrong with the very first shot we took at amending the original Constitution back in 1789. It is my firmly held opinion that the message of truth, hope, love, life, and salvation in Jesus will be the most compelling and attractive within a free marketplace of ideas. Our faith thrives when it is expressed through choice, not by mandate. Or in simpler terms, when you go to the supermarket are you ever really excited about buying the "store brand"? Then why make an unhealthy and watered-down version of Christianity the "store brand" of the USA?

Sarah Palin is not in any way the "average" person she pretends to be. She in ambition personified. Fortunately, she probably won't be successful, but if she somehow is, then look out!!

Hope she has good table manners.

This woman was proven to be dishonest, (understatement), even before she accepted the run for Vice-President. How anyone can have somthing positive to say about her is disapointing. Either these people who have left positive comments about her have thier heads burried in the sand or they are just as dishonest as she is.

Sarah Palin ran as reformer did run against a corrupt Republican Political Machine in Alaska and defeated them. Obama was a member of the Illinois State Senate and just Ignored the corrupt Chicago Political Machine that ran Chicago and the State of Illinois. One was for reform and the other just looked the other way and hoped Illinois Corruption would just go away. Remember that the word "Reform" is a dirty word to many Chicago and Illinois politicians regardless of party.

Why would she want to leave her throne Alaska to swap jokes with the fellas in DC?

GOP - leadership you can count on.

I hope Sarah Palin fails.

I don't know about you people. But I didn't vote for McCain because of Palin. I didn't vote for Obama because he was from the Chicago machine. I voted for Bush a third time. DUBYA FOREVER!

Depot,

Better give Ted Stevens the news.

The power of the female gender is infinite.

Will they be serving turkey at the dinner?

I see we got plenty of Jesus honkers on here today, spilling there flim flam. If you need god to act like a civilized human, and have real love in your heart, then by all means have at it, read the good book back, and forth. God will not save us, only we can do that.

Maybe if the Tribune could write an article that wasn't dripping with smuggness and caked with bias intonations they might not be going bankrupt. Do your job and report the dang news, don't dictate your opinion!

Remember Sarah: chew with your mouth closed and keep your elbows off the table. And the little fork is for salad not for cleaning your nails.

You should respect Gov. Sarah Palin, she is Sarah Palin but to you she is Gov. Sarah Palin! Show some respect, unlike that of the ex-gov you voted into officel. He's citizen Rod Blago, of which Gov. Palin is not!

AAAAAaaaargh!!
.
"Their" = something belonging to them.
"They're" = They Are.
"There" = Not HERE, but ...
.

"Its" = something belonging to It.
"It's" = "It Is."
.
Get it RIGHT. God is a 7th-Grade English Teacher and you're ticking her off BIG TIME.

Pete...Forgive my snarkyness. Surly to bed and surly to rise...I always say. Just sometimes I get a little tired of "just believe in Christ" as an answer or the reason for our problems.

Dear Grammar is my
God.

I am alwyas mixing up it's and its. sort of grammar dislexic.
So thanks for the tip, I'm putting it on a stickey on my my computer.

One hopes Obama is not in the same room with her without those Marine guards at hand.

They're hopin' she brings along some Wasilla blubber butter. Is Katie Couric going to be around?

No worries, bill r., you are forgiven and your words, however snarky, are appreciated. We "Jesus honkers" (to quote another poster), whether it's myself or Sarah Palin, do need to listen and better understand that our own hypocrisy is usually the main cause of the backlash against our beliefs.
You're correct that many of us are quick to pound others over the head with the notion that "just believe in Christ" is the answer to all our problems, but it's quite clear (both in the Bible and in our modern world) that God often allows the most faithful to experience the most pain, suffering, and grief. So anyone saying that belief in Christ will put you on Easy Street is either lying or deluded.
So why do I believe? Not because I'm a big rule-follower or because I have or expect a perfect, pain free life (quite the contrary). It's because I experienced God's supernatural grace making the impossible become possible in my heart. I'm not sure this will make complete sense, but through my belief God changed (and continues to change) the way I -- my heart, my soul, and my entire being -- relate to my problems and the world's problems. I would not and could not ever make these changes on my own. Paradoxically, my heart and soul are no longer restless, and I'm comfortable in my own skin not in spite of, but BECAUSE I know I'm living in a dying body in a broken world. And because I was granted the gift of faith in the promise that there is something oh-so-much better coming in the next.
Okay, so how does this relate to hypocrisy and Sarah Palin? Well, it's those of us who don't understand how much they owe to grace alone who end up focused on pointing out deficiencies and trying to "fix" other people. So, I apologize to those of you who have been beaten over the head by the self-righteous in the name of a savior they didn't fully love or understand. And please keep seeking truth wherever you find it.

Wow, Pete. That was beautiful.

Pete, that was beautiful and eloquent. If you have been on the site long, you will know that Bill and I are cut from the same cloth on this subject. I'm very glad that religion has changed your life for the better...many people need this.

I always like to look at subjects in their historical context. With regards to a "heaven", I always think of the bush people 10,000 years ago that sat starving in a cave, and someone standing up at the front of the cave telling them that there was something better after they died.....an even better world....no....a PERFECT world to live in!! It is not different today. The promise of an afterlife is the only reason many believers believe and do what they do. What a perfect tool to control the masses in the day before governements were created.

But, best of luck to you.....I'm glad it works out for you in your situation. I just wish more christians led by example and not with words.

p.s. I despise it when christians say that the devil made me do it, or the devil tempted me....it sounds like a 6 year old blaming their sibling. Likewise too.....to god go all the glory. I wake up every morning and I chose to do good. I choose not to do bad. I have nothing influencing me other than my own moral code. One also easily forgets the power of the mind, which can do "magical things" as yet not fully understood by medicine.

Existing Warning raised again to Urgent! Never forget that Palin is a mortal threat to our existence & must be destroyed by all means possible. As usual, ends justify the means. If anything she says or repressnts is accurately portrayed she undermines our very presence. She poses a mortal threat to your livlihood, mental stability and core 'beliefs'. Attack, lie. slander, joke, viciously & aggressively at every turn - even her family is not 'off limits'. Make up stories that she belives if 'religous tongues' and get it printed by a major newsweekly's 'religous' editor (they still have them?> that is our plant just to give 'credibility' to the slander of Palin)). As with our current President, you can rest assured you will have the full support of 'media' in this frontal personal attack. We must succeed to ensure anything of what she represents is never listened to. Alert flash ended
