Remember the Patty Duke Show of the 1960s with the ridiculous, genetically impossible premise of two cousins who were identical twins? It was double trouble in black and white. If you do, then the Social Security Administration is trying to get your attention with a new ad featuring that classic show's star.

The SSA wants aging Baby Boomers to know about its new online application for retirement benefits. So who better to make the pitch than someone many Baby Boomers will remember fondly, someone like Duke?

If your response is anything like mine, you'll find yourself saying "Wow, is that really Patty Duke?" I wouldn't have recognized her if I bumped into her on the street even though she's been working steadily since rhe series in the early 1960s.

This could be the beginning of a really great trip down memory lane, this mash-up between Social Security and TV Land. Quite a few 1960s stars, now aging Baby Boomers, are still out there like Jerry Mathers and Ron Howard. Just a thought.

Luckily we have the safety net of Social Security to fall back on…for now.

Just four years ago Bush and the GOP made a big push to partially privatize Social Security… You know so we could individually invest our future with the great minds on Wall Street.

This is really depressing - but at least Ross is not SS eligible yet - as far as I know. And what about Richard??

And Frank - there probably are cousins out there that look enough alike to pass as twins.

My god, Patty didn't age very well. They could have chosen a better Boomer icon, IMO. I always thought the The Patty Duke Show was lame. How about Ken "Eddie Haskel" Osmond?

Well Big Orange Satan, have you read the Obama tax cut plan? It has EVERYTHING to do with demoralizing and raping Social Security - that safety net you speak of.

Better yet, Dawn "Marianne" Wells.
