The official Barack Obama portrait, an image shot yesterday by the incoming chief White House photographer, was revealed this morning on the "Today" show.
The Pete Souza photo will be on display in American embassies worldwide and in numerous other government offices. Souza is a former Chicago Tribune photographer who also worked as a White House photographer for Ronald Reagan.

Let's get to the important stuff...when will Obama choose the dog and will it have larger ears than you know who.

They can do way better than that.
How about one with the famous smile?
Put a friendly face on all those depressing govt waiting rooms.

This photo is flat without depth and contrast. If they were aiming for sophomoric and centrist they nailed it!!! Where is Irving Penn when you really need him?

You need to adjust the formatting of your picture - the distortion looks like something Mark Penn would have come up with during the campaign.

I think you're confusing Barack with this guy:

Paulo:
Still can't get over the election, can you?? Your guy and your party lost.

Poor Paulo,
He is to debate as to what a three year old is not getting his way in the candy aisle. Just one great big, long, hold your breath, turn blue, temper tantrum.
Poor Paulo, it's going to be a long eight years. Can you hold your breath that long?

That's a nice photo but a poor, fuzzy image you've posted. No clearer one available? A link to a better one, perhaps on the Obama website? I'd be surprised if Mr. Souza or the PE would object to dissemination of a quality digital image.

Feast on it boys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Needs more intense colors and a "posterize" filter.

You might want to adjust your HTML on this page to avoid 'widening' the image and altering the original dimensions.

I always thought that King George had a crown in those official photogs littering American Embassies worldwide

Seal of the President
Posted by: Doug Zook | January 14, 2009 3:22 PM
That flag? That's the secret NAFTA Republic Flag. We'll be replacing the Stars and Stripes with it on January 21, along with making French and Spanish the official languages of the U.S. and replacing the dollar with "Uno" (the secret official one world currency of the UN).
Or, you know, it could just be the Presidential flag. Depends on who you ask and how hard you squint.

Someone send Paulo a ticket to Crawford. He and GW can do something they have the skills for...clearing brush.

You've changed the aspect ratio...makes his head look flattened. the original is ~.74:1 and your version is ~.9:1

I've seen those "official photos" going back at least to Ike.
For some reason, they all have a kind of "suppressed smile" expression, as if to say,
"I'm really an amiable, gregarious guy but the photographer just told me to look serious, so here goes..."
I've never understood that.
Cheney's official has, as I recall, the famous snarl competing with the suppressed grin. It's kind of scary.

I understand the taxpayer supporting President Obama and his immediate family. That is part of the contract I think Americans have with their President. Why do we have to provide free room and board to his mother-in-law? That is just wrong. I wonder if his illegal Aunt in Boston will be moving in too?
Obama's mother-in-law to freeload at the White House

Not a good idea. Then he'd look like Alfred E. Neuman.

President-elect Obama, Vice President-elect Biden and Families:
I am proud to have been one of millions of Americans that cast my vote for you. For the DAY of SERVICE, I am donating canned goods to our local HAVEN of REST. For the first time in life, this historical event has inspired me to follow your Presidency with photos, writings and speeches. Already have five albums completed, awaiting the inauguration to be included. If I'm blessed, will follow your journey while keeping these albums continued. May God bless THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA, May God bless you and yours. May HE have mercy on all, HIS manjind. Amen.
Welcome to the White House, Sir.

Why do most liberals interpret the election of President Obama as their own personal vendetta against President Bush? Can a level-headed, thinking American (which bars partisanship, btw) please give me an honest answer? Enough of this Barack the Savior, Bush the Satan bull. Yes, President Obama is our leader now, but can we please remember his vulnerable humanity? Yes, he seems valiant and good-willed, but can we please remember he will be forced to make soul-rending decisions like every chief executive before him? Enough hero worship already.

You can't tell ME that this photo has not been "retouched" to reduce the EAR-SPAN!!!
I know that he is embarassed by them, but lets be honest... this has been altered!!
