We're not sure what to make of these Defense secretaries who seem to have more than their share of orthopedic issues.
Seeing SecDef Robert Gates testifying before the Senate Armed Service Committee with his cast on yesterday was reminiscent of his predecessor Donald Rumsfeld who testified back in 2002 while wearing an arm cast.
This was Gates' second time appearing before Congress with an injured wing. Last year it was his other arm which he injured after slipping on ice.
Gates' latest injury was caused when he tried to put a snow plow on a tractor at his home in Oregon and wound up with a tendon ripping away from the bone.
Such injuries have also been known to occur from lifting a copy of the Pentagon's budget.

Yes. The "Armed" Services committee is disarming.

Flo,
That's a good one. Wish I had thought of that.

Looks like all of the BushCo war criminals (minus Gates) are playing the sympathy card lately. Rummy must have seen Cheney in the wheelchair and decided to play along:

Silly question.
Haven't you ever see DR. STRANGELOVE??

Rummy has a hand injury. Cheney the Terrible is in a wheelchair. Is Gates also in defense mode with his injury? No violins. These men sent--and continued to support the process of sending over 4200 American troops to their deaths based on lies. The families and orphans of the 4200 dead troops wish their loved ones were only in wheelchairs, or had only casts on their hands. The current "injuries" of the warmongers and chicken hawks won't make anyone more sympathetic during war crime trials.
The current economic troubles and the Bush/Cheney invasion and occupation of the wrong country--the country with lots of oil and big-time no-compete "war" contracts are directly linked.
We need to take the CEOs of the banks to trial as terrorists. The House and Senate allowed the banker-terrorists to use 400 billion of the TARP public tax money to finance bonuses, buy new banks and to feather the nests of all the banks and bankers--while giving no relief to the individual American. Those lawmakers who voted "yea" to allow the banks to loot Americans need to be put on trial, also.

Maybe they hurt their arms patting themselves on the back too much.
