Sen. David Vitter (R-Hypocrisy), that paragon of moral virtue from Louisiana probably best known nationally for his connection to a Washington prostitution scandal, thinks Sen. Roland Burris (D-Pinnochio) should resign. Seriously. He said this to a reporter.
An excerpt from The Hill:
"I honestly don't know anybody who would compare these situations," he told The Hill on Tuesday. "They are dramatically different."
Vitter said that Burris "clearly, at a minimum, misled the Illinois Legislature and the voters of the Illinois" by giving incomplete answers about his contacts with and fundraising efforts for former Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D-Ill.) as Blagojevich was considering appointing Burris to the state's Senate seat.
"Obviously there are even more serious charges of perjury, but I guess that will sort itself out in terms of legal proceedings," Vitter said.
In boxing they call this leading with your chin.

Coming from one of these 'holier than thou' moral Republicans who was whooping it up with D.C. prostitutes, who received a standing ovation from his fellow Republican Senators. This hypocrite should look at himself in the mirror. Vitter should have been expelled from the Senate.

Vitter committed no crime. Believe it or not, there's no law against having your name in a madam's phone book. Burris very likely committed perjury before the Illinois legislature. Naturally, Frank James can't see the distinction.

to be fair... if we are going to provide clever "journalistic" phrasing like Sen. David Vitter (R-Hypocrisy), ...

Shoudln't you also refer to Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) as Sen. Roland Burris (D-Less than Forthright, possibly a Liar)
and
Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D-Ill.) as
Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D-Seller of Something F****** valuable.)??

Or have we given up any pretense of your political motivation here?

..............
It's the hypocrisy of the prostitution thing that is completely offensive.
If Vitter wants to wear diapers, though, that doesn't really concern me at all.
If he wanted to hire prostitutes, he could have at least taken a public stand in his capacity as a Senator in favor of legalizing prostitution.
Then I would have had no trouble either.
But this is the kind of schmuck who runs on a Republican "family values" platform (one campaign commercial actually had him in his kitchen with his family talking about sharing the load at home - I beleive he even mentioned "changing diapers" in that ad), but would never align his own life with the values he pretends to support. That's my issue with him-

Jeff,
What has Blago been charged with? I haven't seen any indictments.
'
In order to be convicted of perjury you have to PROVE that you intentionally misled or did not tell the truth. That is a VERY high burden of proof. Burris could pull a page out of Gonzo's book and just repeat I don't recall. You can't prove somebody did not forget something can you?

Heartburn: You made an excellent point. When I wrote "hypocrisy" after Vitter's name I couldn't immediately think of one word to describe Burris. But after a while, Pinnochio came to mind. I stole it from a Chicago Tribune editorial which referred to his Pinnochio nose. It seems apropos.

I don't think Vitter's big apology was just for being in the madame's book. But be as deluded as you like, Jeffy.

Frank James,
.
When do we hear from the Senator that drowned his girlfriend (Kennedy) and the senator that belonged (do you ever quit?) to the KKK (Byrd)? What do they have to say about Burris?
