She is not merely the First Lady, in the breathless Vogue treatment of Michelle Obama.
She also is elegantly displayed in a wide-ranging wardrobe, with the March cover of the magazine and article featuring the photography of star photographer Annie Leibovitz, who caught up with the Obamas at the Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington.
With the exception of Bess Truman, Vogue says it has photographed every first lady since Lou Hoover in 1929. This is just the second time in Vogue's 117-year run, however, that the first lady has made the cover. The first was Hillary Clinton in December 1998.
The cover photo features the first lady in a silk dress by Jason Wu. Inside, she is pictured in a more glamorous Narciso Rodriguez dress and a J.Crew wool cardigan.
"I love clothes," Obama says in an article by Vogue editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley.
""Do you see our new house?" she asks by a window at the Hay-Adams, where the new first family stayed before President Barack Obama's inauguration.
"Caroline Kennedy has shared with Mrs. Obama fond memories of living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,'' the article notes, quoting Kennedy as saying: "My mother always told me that the happiest times we spent as a family were in the White House because we were all together. After years of campaigning, I am sure the Obamas will feel the same way."

And the Treasury Secretary will be on the cover of "Vague" magazine.

Meanwhile, while Rome burns, it is nice to see the Trib and the women so interested in such a stupid story.

Funny, Mr Bunkport.
.
And lighten up XL. Just enjoy a great photo (kudos to Annie Liebowitz) of a beautiful woman, and save your snark for the Stimulus Bill threads.

Okay, MJ! I can agree with you on this one!

rupert, I knew there had to be SOMETHING we could agree on!

I'm glad I could be the one to create this wonderful middle ground for you two. I still stand by my post....there are much more important things to write about than what M.O. wears, what dog they pick, who showed up at the opening of a new building, and what reporter died today. I find these articles either pandering to the women, or insulting my intelligence. Sure, it is a great photo of M.O.....but an article does not need to be written about it. If I wanted to read an article about it, I'd go pick up a tabloid.

XL, yeah it's not the most important thing in the world, but I really don't mind cuz (pardon my Political Incorrectness) she's a Bona Fide Hottie.
.
But if you don't want to read about the Vogue Cover, then don't. Just skip the thread.

I think Michelle Obama is one classy lady. She is genuine and can be a very good role model for women. What is wrong with someone who knows how to dress and likes clothes? The entertainment world has no problem promoting their style on the public. Why not have someone that has class, and natural beauty to set forth a more normal and healthy lifestyle for our young women of today. Sure, she has the means, but she has also worked hard to be where she is today. That is the kind of woman that we want to project to our daughters today.
