Alaska governor's mansion: Gov. Sarah Palin wanted to be an ESPN sportscaster, but that would have meant moving to Bristol, Conn. (AP photo by Al Grillo)

Sarah Palin: The Esquire interview.
Addicted to Carmex lip balm, grew up playing flute and trombone - says sports taught her everything she knows.
And Mooseburger makes the best chili.
All this, in the March issue on the newsstand Feb. 16.
The Alaska governor and 2008 Republican Party nominee for vice president unleashes her tongue on the "pathetic, anonymous bloggers'' who caused her fits in her brief run across the national stage. She says that even legitimate news reporters - and she does read the papers -- continue to question if her 9-month-old son, Trig, is actually the child of her 18-year old daughter Bristol from a secret pregnancy.
"I'll tell you, yesterday the Anchorage Daily News, they called again to ask -- double-, triple-, quadruple-check -- who is Trig's real mom," Palin tells Esquire. "And I thought, 'Okay, more indication of continued problems in the world of journalism."'
(Bristol was named, in part, for Bristol, Conn., home of the sports television network ESPN. ""When I was in high school, my desire was to be a sportscaster," she explains. "Until I learned that you'd have to move to Bristol, Connecticut. It was far away. So instead, I had a daughter and named her Bristol." )
Looking back on the presidential campaign with Sen. John McCain, Palin says: "If I were giving advice to myself back on the day my candidacy was announced, I'd say, 'Tell the campaign that you'll be callin' some of the shots. Don't just assume that they know you well enough to make all your decisions for ya.'''
Ashley Judd, pictured above in an AP photo by Richard Drew, is appearing in a new Internet video for Defenders of Wildlife targeting Alaska's practice of killing wolves and bears from airplanes and one of the program's chief supporters, Gov. Palin.
Palin, explaining that she hunts and fishes to provide "good clean healthy protein" for her family, explains that Mooseburger is the secret to a good chili.
"I don't know if you can get it commercially in New York," Palin tells Esquire. "Come up here to my home, and I'll prepare it for ya."

Well it didn't take to long. The Democrat Stimulus is going that bad, the Swamp needed another approach for continued attacks against the GOP.
I would have run FEMA first and how they haven't responded to the death freeze in the Country. But hey lets NOT kick the new Admin' around.
One question for Judd: She obviously believes in animal protection, but I wonder what she thinks of animals being teated on for aids?
You never hear any celebrity asked those 2 points in an interview, because they don't have an answer for it.

Where have you been? Please turn on Faux News to recieve the 24/7 hate News. Turn on the pirate of AM radio to recieve the "I want Obama to Fail" update. Tune into to Sean Vannitys' hell...I don't even know what BS he is selling but I can guess the gist of it. Read these posts.

PG,
Are you trying to say that the press don't ask celebs the questions that you personally come up with and post on newspaper article comments?
What a jacked up world we live in.

Who care what Ashley Judd thinks - who is Ashley Judd?
Posted by: vla | February 5, 2009 1:43 PM
PG,
Animals should not be "teated" on. Also, I see Palin continues to pull the Sympathy Card. No journalist is asking her this question. She just wants to stay and the news and have people feel sorry for her.

That is actually a very cute house. The people of Alaska provide well.

Amazing, Bill R, I'm talking about commenting in this thread, with an article written by M. Silva, of the Swamp but you want me to watch TV and listen to the radio.
If you want to take shots at me, that's fine, but please at least respond to the post that exists and not something that doesn't.
Maybe you should run for the Senate, that way you can talk about stuff that doesn't exist as much as you want.
Lets add $100 billion to the stimulus for people to not read articles written online and give it to I guess FoxNews, Hannity, Limbaugh. That's your logic.

I'm really surprised that the reporters keep asking her about the parentage of Trig. The chances of a teenager having a baby with Down Syndrome are infinitesimally low, while the chances of a woman in her 40's having a baby with Down's are really, really high.
Posted by: Sarah | February 5, 2009 2:03 PM
This is news?
Who cares.
Just goes to show how low the Tribune has sunk.

malachi goldbergmann,
Thank you for pointing out my typo.
I'll make it more simple for Judd to answer:
Ms. Judd, do you believe in animal protection?
Ms. Judd do you believe in finding a cure for aids?

Sweet Lord, could you imagine if she was an ESPN commentator? I can just see it now...her paired up with Bob Costas for an NHL broadcast:
"Oh, well, ya know dere Bobb-o... that the goalie just couldn't get to that there puck, ya know. He was just too darn slow! Ya know, come to think of it, Bobb-o, sittin' up here in this here booth is about how high up I am in a chopper with my rifle shootin' at those pesky wolves back home! Yessiree, if I had my rifle here I could pick off those pesky skaters down there..."

Who cares what Sarah Palin thinks besides the Tribune. You people need to "get it". She Lost the Election. It was probably more her fault than McCain's. Americans no longer want to hear the divisive, separatist crap that is Sarah Palin. Palin is an old school Far Right better than you are Repulican nutcase. Nobody cares what she has to say. The best thing she could do for America is sit on her front porch, when the weather allows, with her separatist husband and six-pack yahoo buddies and keep an eye on Russia for us. You Betcha Sarah.
Posted by: Lawrence Oliver | February 5, 2009 2:21 PM
Mr. Silva, it seems to me it's okay to alter the spelling of Sarah Palin's quotes in written text to drop the "gs" and have "ya" instead of "you " . . . ONLY if you also spell it "Hahvahd Yahd" and "Cuber" in any quotes from Ted Kennedy.
Posted by: Kurt | February 5, 2009 2:22 PM

Lets add $100 billion to the stimulus for people to not read articles written online and give it to I guess FoxNews, Hannity, Limbaugh. That's your logic.
I'm not even sure where you are going with this?????

The main reason wolves and bears get shot in Alaska is to protect the elk, moose and caribou population. But facts and the Chicago Tribune rarely have a relationship.
It is a shame that most folks can no longer get actual news and objective reporting today. The corrupt mainstream media spends more time inquiring if Trig is Sarah's son than it does covering what's in the TRILLION dollar "stimulus" package. Sarah Palin is Trig's mom. Bristol gave birth to a baby in December. It's pretty darn impossible to two babies within a year! But then the clueless and corrupt media is too ignorant to figure that out.
Posted by: John D | February 5, 2009 2:41 PM
bill r, I take back you running for the Senate. Thank God.
Let me make this just as easy for you as I did for Judd.
What is the article about? It is about Judd taking a shot at Gov. Palin. Not the other way around.
And yes, to the Swamp because that is where the conversation is at. Not the other places you want me to go and watch and listen to.

The Judd commercial is about hunting wolves from airplanes, not hunting "Good clean protein." If Palin has a defense for that policy, she should state it. But as long as she doesn't address it, I'll assume she doesn't have a defense.
We should send Blago, Palin and Drew Peterson someplace where there is no media - I'm sicking of hearing all of them.
Posted by: maddog | February 5, 2009 3:48 PM
blah blah blah, liberal media, coulda-shoulda-woulda during the campaign, trig is my baby, i do read stuff, blah blah blah., are u not a plolitician sarah? y dont u talk about some issues facing ur state., or the nation. why is it everytime i see or hear from u., its the exact same interview over and over. if the media is so out to get u , y are u constantly taking interview after interview, if the trig thing is an issue, have a dna test, go public with the results. done, non issue. if u do actually read any current publications, y are u constantly defending the fact that u do, just know that you do., it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks, just drop it. finally, noone was out there holding ur hand during any number of those tv interviews, u blew those urself with non-answers, lack of knowledge in govt., horrible ad-libbing, and basic stupidity., and thank you deadwood, for the countdown, but just like a wolf in the crosshairs of a rifleman seated in a helicopter, sarah ur time is up.

So do you think it was necessary to substitute "ya" for "you" in her answers? We all have accents. Would you be so quick to phoneticize another, more esteemed, persons words?
Posted by: Ben Cartwright | February 5, 2009 3:58 PM
PG, the article is about Palin being interviewed by Esquire. Judd did not say a word. As for the continuing saga of Palin's child, we all know its her's. And I seriously doubt that the Anchorage News would be calling her and asking her the same question the 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. time. The lady has been known to be a little loose with the truth.
Posted by: Liberal and Proud | February 5, 2009 3:59 PM
PG...I'll try this one more time. I understand what you said and your point. You feel that because your dislike of the stimulus and the percieved bias in the swamp, that they brought out this story. My point is that bias is not only percieved in the swamp it is prevelant in the other medias I mentioned. I don't really want you to watch these....just know that these other medias are working just as hard to be bias against this stimulus. That's all. Quite frankly...I don't think we are getting the real deal from any media. I haven't even heard what is still in or out of the current bill since it hit the senate so I'm not really sure how anyone can speak accurately on it.

Ben -
You asked: "Would you be so quick to phoneticize another, more esteemed, persons words?"
Hell yeah I would! It's called "imitation." We do it all the time! I mean, would Dana Carvey have been funny if he used his normal voice when impersonating President GHW Bush? I think not.
Posted by: JayKo | February 5, 2009 5:43 PM
And how do we know that Palin is still being continously asked if Trig is Bristol's? Because she says so? Where's the proof?
The person who thinks a young woman cannot give birth to a Downs Syndrome baby needs to bone up a bit.
And can someone tell me why Palin thinbks she's getting better meat by hunting and killing it herself? My father and uncles used to hunt and learned there is a lot of sickness in wild game and just skinning, gutting could make people ill. Does she know she could kill her entire family if she feeds them infected Caribou? Does she know what to look for?
She would do herself a favor by stepping back and staying out of the spotlight if she doesn't want criticsm. She's already goofed too many times and too many people have witnessed it and think she's a fool. Let it die down.
Posted by: randi | February 5, 2009 5:46 PM
If the kid really is Sarah's, why did she throw Bristol under the bus by revealing Bristol's pregnancy? Why not just release the hospital records? Or get the OB/GYN to make a statement? What kind of parent reveals to the national media that the baby can't be my daughter's because she is pregnant now? Bristol has been through enough and I agree she should be left alone; but it is a real judgment question on Sarah's part. I am also not buying that cross-country trip Sarah professes to have taken in order to birth in Alaska. How can it be that no one remembers seeing a woman in labor during any of the flights? What kind of parent--governor or not--even goes on a junket like that when she is pregnant with a sick kid? Why would any responsible person leave Texas--with good neonatal facilities--when you are in labor with a Down syndrome kid in order to give birth in Alaska?

The wolf hunting program was not started by Sarah Palin but by the Fish and Wildlife Biologist in Alaska under er predecessor's term. Te goal is to protect the caribou and Moose as the wolf has become over populated. Sarah does not fly in helicopters shooting wolves, the Fish and Game Dept ave professionals doing this. The caribou and Moose are staples for those living in ANWAR, an area Ms Judd wishes to protect from oil drilling to"protect the moose and Caribou", very very animals this program is designed to protect. Does Ms Judd really care about these animals or just to score points against Gov Palin. If she truly wants to protect the moose and Caribou she would support this program

Ms. Palin's been treated pretty badly in the press, a result of the fact that she is unabashedly conservative. Regardless of your political perspective, it seems apparent that this is a vapid and mean-spirited attempt to paint her in an unfavorable light. Her time may--or may not--come in a few years. In the meanwhile, it seems we should be paying more attention to the fast unraveling of the executive branch.
Posted by: Mister Mike | February 5, 2009 6:16 PM
Is there any picture of Palin pregnant with her son? There's talk of a 'secret pregancy' with her daughter. I think one photo of Palin would put this issue to rest. A picture of her in the hospital bed with her son...maybe??? Anyone with kids have one.

The woman has the IQ of a tick. The only magazine I would be interested in with the subject of Gov. Palin is Playboy with her as centerfold. She would fit right in with the rest of the Playmates who when you blow in their ears they say "Thanks for the refill"

Someone needs to ask Sarah Palin, when she's gonna pay taxes on the 60.00 per day per diem, and on her children's free airplane flights back and forth to the states during the election campaign, and to all those other little shindigs which were not official state business.

I don't have a problem with the media lambasting Sarah Palin. Or people making fun of her. She's a very public figure, and therefore, is fair game.
I do, however, dislike very much the attempt to make her appear stupid by substituting "ya" for "you" when printing her quotes. I don't care if that is what she actually said. I don't see the same standard applied anywhere else. Would it be similarly acceptable to quote Al Sharpton "aksing" someone a question? Or how about including the numerous "uhs" and "ums" that tend to litter the speech of a certain, much admired new president? My guess is such tactics would no doubt be decried for what they are. But somehow it's all right to do it to Palin. Very nice. If she is indeed so stupid, then why not just print her words as you would any other governor of any other state (or any other politician, for that matter) and let her own words expose her stupidity? Simply speaking with a northern accent, or a southern drawl, or what have you, does not mean one is stupid or uneducated. So please refrain from acting as if it does.

Ickypeople.com? Is that Matt Damon's blog? It seems pretty credible...
Who cares what celebrities think? They are morons. They get paid millions of dollars for pretending to be someone else. They live in an alternative universe, then believe they should be taken seriously off the set as they counsel Dems on how to vote. They decry the treatment of animals while adorned in fur. Palin enjoys a substantially high approval rating in her home state of Alaska, while PDiddy asks the eternal question: "Alaska Moth#$ Fu*&^$?"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ow8_pCPfhDk.
"Democrats criticized Palin for taking the per diem and $43,490 in travel expenses for the times her family accompanied her on state business. In response, the governor's staffers said that these practices were in line with state policy, that Palin's gubernatorial expenses are 80% below those of her predecessor, Frank Murkowski, and that "many of the hundreds of invitations Palin receives include requests for her to bring her family, placing the definition of 'state business' with the party extending the invitation.
In December 2008, an Alaska state commission recommended increasing the Governor's annual salary from $125,000 to $150,000. Palin stated that she would not accept the pay raise. In response, the commission dropped the recommendation."
