That happy family tableau that stood on the stage of the Republican National Convention last summer isn't so happy these days - but the suddenly on-hold fiancé of Bristol Palin and father of her child suggests a reconciliation is possible.
"I'd like to get back together with her,'' Levi Johnston said on ABC's Good Morning America today. "I don't know what she's thinking.''
We think we may have an idea of what she's thinking - she, the daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the GOP's vice presidential nominee in 2008.
Johnston and Bristol Palin are the parents of young Tripp, born on Dec. 27. He said on the ABC program this morning that his engagement with the 18-year-old mother is in hold - they decided it would be better to separate for a while. He says they decided they need a little time to grow up before thinking about marriage.
Asked if the two are still civil, the 19-year-old Johnston said, "Yeah, for the most part.'' Asked what the future holds, he said, "Whatever happens, happens.''
Tell that to Tripp.

Why does anyone care? For goodness sake, leave the poor girl alone, if she doesn't want to marry this guy I bet she has her reasons.

Too bad he didn't think about that before they had a child. Can we say stick a fork in this? There's nothing better than to seperate a while when your 18 or 19..........Not like you'll find the free wheeling life at 18 more fun than fatherhood.

Good grief, is this all you people have to report on? Who gives a squat with all the tax increases and unemployment facing this country. Leave this teenage stuff for TMZ and the celebrity rags. Grow up!

I wish the boy would have stayed off GMA. Let these poor high school kids alone. Good grief.
And of course, on Huffington Post, everyone is piling in on Bristol Palin. Wonder what would happen if one of the little Obama darlings (and actually -- I think they are darling!) ever does anything wrong? Wonder if we ever start hearing tales from school about them being little divas? Somehow, I think the comments would be a whole lot different.

Another hit job by one of the world's worst journalists, Mark Silva. Mark has children. Perhaps someone should begin investigating his family and reporting on all the things that go on with his children?
This is ridiculous, though, the constant media attacks on the Palin children. Did we see ooddles of Swamp items about the alcholic and drug-infested life of Al Gore's son, who keeps getting arrested and arrested over his drinking and drugged life?
It's sad to see the once-great newspaper, the Chicago Tribune, become nothing more but a left-wing rag that tries to be the brother of the DailyKook. Sick, just plain, sick.

Please leave these young people alone. They don't hold any public office and they're not telling anyone how to live their lives. This IS sick.

On his TV show, early in the Clinton administration, Limbaugh put up a picture of Socks, the White House cat, and asked, "Did you know there's a White House dog?" Then he put up a picture of Chelsea Clinton, who was 13 years old at the time and as far as I know had never done any harm to anyone.
"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno."

Last week, Sen. John McCain’s daughter, Meghan McCain, appeared on Rachel Maddow’s show, where she continued to criticize Ann Coulter. On her radio show, conservative Laura Ingraham responded to McCain’s critique of far right conservatives, saying that she is “just another Valley Girl gone awry.” In a mocking faux-Valley Girl voice, Ingraham made fun of McCain’s body, joking that she didn’t get a “role in the Real World” because “they don’t like plus-sized models.”

So, bill r., you want the Democrats to behave just like Rush Limbaugh?
Posted by: Bemused | March 16, 2009 1:55 PM
Mark, you have children, yes? How would you like someone to put them under a microscope.
How is this even news, except that Bristol is Governor Palin's daughter.
The kids made a mistake. Now it's time to get serious. Bristol has a strong family that will support her in her decisions.
Not sure why Levi thought he needed to go on TV, but, that seems to be the "in thing" to do.
Morning and evening TV news has turned into the Jerry Springer Show, but with out all of Jerry's class and sophistication.
Now, how about that Obama? Is he a cut up or what?
THE worst president in history, and you guys are worried about a couple of teenage kids!

bill r- I see you are still riding the "well they were just as bad" playground defense?-
So are you defending the media fixation with Palin's teenage daughter's personal life or rationalizing it because of what Rush or McCain may have said?

Welcome to the world of Bill Hussein R. where two wrongs ALWAYS make a right. Go back to my post on the original swamp Meghan McCain post to see me saying "why is this news?" on that one, too. And if it were Chelsea I'd be saying the same thing. I didn't even like the SNL "Wayne's World" sketch that mentioned her and made fun of her looks.

Listen to the hypocritical sing in unison. Shall I go back in to the archives to prove each one of you play the same game. Heck Jeffy.....you'll post crap on a thread that has nothing to do with the garbage you are spewing just to deflect.
ps...Bemused....No..I want the right to stand up and denounce this on both sides.
Posted by: eye can whine too | March 16, 2009 3:05 PM
There you go again, trying to belittle someone by calling them "jeffy" to make yourself look like a big, tough man. Pathetic. You can go into the archives, John E, you'll find nothing from me commenting on the personal life of a child.
Posted by: Jeff | March 16, 2009 4:54 PM
Ahhh Jeff...you're a legend in your own mind. A child? What age does one not recieve the label child? I have plenty of posts with you trashing Chelsea........So you support a child having children?

All the corruption going on, taxpayers being defrauded, and you find nothing to report on but a young Native American woman? Better get a real job.
Posted by: windwalker | March 16, 2009 10:07 PM
Silva this article is a joke for all the reasons posted above. Go back to fawning over Obama. I think he just named his new dog. You are all over that one.

In the ABC interview Levi asserts that he can see Tripp anytime he desires and frequently does see him. It is sad that Bristol and Levi are separted right now but it is better to avoid a bad marriage than to break one up. I hope that they can work things out and get back together in the future. Tripp will be fine. He has a large loving family who will support him and his Governor grandmother will love him immensely.

Gov. Palin's family needs to be off limits, as was Chelsea Clinton. However, the leftwing bloggers and leftwing media take delight in attacking the children of Republican politicians. I admire Bristol and Levi for making a mature decision at this stage of their lives. Whatever the future holds for them, will end up being the best for Bristol, Levi and Tripp. Just remember bloggers, when you point your finger at someone, there are three other fingers pointing back at you!!

I see....so when the right blasts blacks for children out of wedlock or personal responsibilities...it's ok. Or when 2 people are in love and just happen to be of the same sex and want to marry.....it's not ok. It seems to me that the rightous right seems to point more fingers than any.

Couldn't you see the gun that was being held to Levi's head to force him to be on ABC against his will? It's really shameful how this moung man was physically coerced to do the interview. It's not like he's an adult with the full capacity to refuse or anything. This is almost as bad as when the media forced Bristol and Levi to accept $300,000 to have pictures of their baby published.

Another so called journalist making poor comments about the Gov's daughter. I am roflmao. Grow up and report some real news. Like Dodd took 100,000 of campaign money from aig and then allowed them to recieve there bonuses that is news.

A couple of my fav quotes: In the old days of barbarism, the people fought with hatchets. Civilized men buried the hatchet, and now fight with gossip. - Edgar Watson Howe
Gossip is always a personal confession either of malice or imbecility. - Josiah Gilbert Holland
You have used gossip to get some page hits. Now, go away and play, youngster. Come back when you grow up!

Just leave them alone. It is hard enough to finish school, get a job, and also try to raise a baby without constant media attention. If you want to comment on Governor Palin's policies, that is fair game. I don't know why anyone would care what Bristol and Levi are up to.
