Former President George W. Bush, who once famously called himself "The Decider," is writing a book about decisions, our colleagues at the L.A. Times note today.
"I want people to understand the environment in which I was making decisions,'' the former president said in an interview Wednesday from his Dallas office. "I want people to get a sense of how decisions were made and I want people to understand the options that were placed before me.''
The former president explained, during his first post-presidential speech in Canada this week, that he will be writing about the 12 toughest decisions that he has had to make.
The book, tentatively entitled "Decision Points," is scheduled for a 2010 release by Crown, an imprint of the Crown Publishing Group, which in turn is a division of Random House Inc. Financial details have not bee disclosed.
Former President Bill Clinton wrote of "My Life,'' and made millions of dollars.
But Bush won't be writing an autobiography. He will concentrate on a dozen personal and presidential choices, including:
Gving up drinking, picking Dick Cheney as his vice president and invading Iraq.

The book will, his co-author said, be a poignant exploration of his struggle with psychosis.

The president responsible for some of the worst decisions ever made in the White House (and the extent to which those bad decisions will affect us will only be fully realized somewhere down the road) is writing a book touting his decision-making ability. We are collectively crying 'UNCLE!' Mr. Bush. Please spare us.

Most likely Bush's toughest decision was whether or not to take his head out of his butt. He decided not to. But on second thought maybe he didn't have enough info to make that decision since he couldn't find his butt even with both hands. He is one of those few people in history about whom it can truly be said that the world would been a better place had he never been born.

Who cares about his new book? We lived through his tryrannical Presidency and are still feeling the effects! Maybe if they had been less secretive he wouldn't need to explain why he did the horrible things he did. Just go back to Texas and let us try to heal!

The Supreme Court appointed George Bush was incapable of speaking correct English or in complete sentences. He also had a problem telling the truth The man was an embarassment and a disgrace. How could this person write a book. And who cares about him and what he has to say. The United States would have been better off without him.

I have been looking forward to an autobiography. This will do, but I do hope that he writes a full autobiography at some point in the future. I like(d) Bush and voted for him both times.
