President Barack Obama isn't thge only one who stands to benefit -- oer perhaps lose, among some viewers, with his appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight.
Leno, the king of late-night and soon prime-time, is making hay with his "historic'' guest, the first sitting president to sit on the Tonight couch.
People lined up outside the studio for a seat, NBC reports today, on Today, of its own studio production, Tonight.
The show airs at 11:30 pm EST. Obama plans to make his appearance in a taping at 7:40 pm EDT, and then fly home to Washington, arriving after midnight.
Air Force One, for the record, can make the Los Angeles to Andrews Air Force Base run in about three and a half hours.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who fat-fingers "thge" for "the."

That's really nice. The cost to fire up Air Force One is worth the "historic" appearance I'm sure.
Don't the networks usually pay for these guests appearances? Do ya think Jay could toss out a couple hundred thousand to cover the cost of the most expensive airplane on the planet to use?
So who cares about the economic mess we're in. Barry and Jay can have a few good laughs together and make the public feel better about this mess? More money wasted because our president can't get out of campaign mode.

He doesnt have to showcase his intellect to any of you, he did it all on his own when he struggled to get loans and go to school at harvard law and columbia all by himself whilst he has a single parent mom. so no he doesnt have to prove he's intelligent by talking on a teleprompter. Secondly I like the human side of him and he;s on his way to doing something for this country to change things around. one man was jobless the whole of last yr as a welder and now he has a job in the energy sector. I've been jobless for 2 yrs under the bush administration as a college graduate, I am now getting a job since coming out of school starting may. So plz dont type ignorant stuff on here about anyone. so what he appears on these shows.. he's down to earth and he leaves himself open for scrutiny. I never saw bush or clinton have town hall meetings for random questions the way obama did or being a team player the way obama did. Get a life people. I been suffering in this country for a long time now and things are finally changing for a disadvantaged woman like me. I am smart and competent, so why did I have to wait so long to get a job?? I want change I can see and I saw it with those jobs people are beginning to get!

Wonder what this trip is costing the taxpayers for Obama to clown in this recession.
Be honest money could be better spent.

What a welcome change to feel like someone is running the country instead of running it into the ground. President Obama has done more in eight weeks than George W. Bush did in eight years---unless you include starting a couple of wars.
While the armchair chicken-hawk/quarterback Wingnuts second guess the new president, he gets up every day and does things, lots of things. Whether it's creating commissions for women and girls, ordering the investigation of President Bush's use of signing statements, or jamming a huge stimulus package through Congress, the man is working his tail off. And he seems to be loving every minute of it.

Will Jay ask the question his corporate master of war won't want him to ask?
"President Obama--isn't focusing on AIG instead of Halliburton and KBR and the other "war on terror" profiteers kind of like saying "Hey! The basement's taking on water!" while your house is missing a roof?"

Would somebody please explain to the moronic and learning impaired that Air Force One was "already in California. Stick with chanting change Inky....current events is not your forte".

There are certain rules of decorum which come into play when the country is hurting.
It would be rewarding to any public official seeking re election, to study the public deportment of someone who was elected President 4 times.
Yeah, That Man.
The Bushes have lavishly decorated the WH and that gold plated china is, I'm sure, stunning.
However, I do hope Barack can resist the temptation to use all that glitz as a backdrop at a time most folk are wringing their hands around the kitchen table.
Once you lose the common touch, can you ever get it back?
The crumpled fedora, the interviews with common folk from behind the wheel of his convertible, interviewing the troops in North Africa sitting in the jeep--
these are the indelible images of That Man.
No accident.

days ago, Republican Jon Kyl called politicians attacking AIG bonuses: "demagogues."
Today, he's slamming President Obama for going on The Tonight Show (jealous much?) instead of attacking AIG bonuses (as if the President can't walk and chew gum at the same time).
I guess what this means is that Jon Kyl isn't just a hypocrite, he's also a demagogue.

And when is Kyl's seat up? 2012. Mark it on your calendars.

Give him a chance guys, I'm sick of brainwashed people being so negative. It's PR for the American people.

Jay Leno proved he can handle any interview situation. Why he's never been asked to host the Oscars is beyond me.
Get Leno as the permanent Oscar host and watch the ratings soar!
