For some time now, the White House and the Democratic National Committee have tried to anoint a new spokesman for the Republican Party.
Their candidate was radio's Rush Limbaugh.
But the White House suggested this week that Limbaugh, who repeatedly has voiced his wishes that the Obama administration will fail in the pursuit of its agenda, may have to move over for another RNC spokesman.
Dick Cheney.
This was prompted by the suggestion of the former vice president that the Obama administration is making life riskier for the United States in a dangerous world with the national security policies that it is pursuing. Cheney, indeed, has been voluble in his criticism for the new administration since entering his own official retirement.
Cheney appeared on CNN's State of the Union on Sunday, where he claimed that Obama is putting the nation at greater risk. He also accused the new administration of taking advantage of an economic crisis to expand the federal government.
What was the White House's reaction?
"Well, I guess Rush Limbaugh was busy,'' Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary, said Monday. "So they trotted out the next most popular member of the Republican cabal.''
In a more serious vein:
"I would say that the resident has made quite clear that keeping the American people safe and secure is the job -- is the most serious job that he has each and every day,'' Gibbs said.
"I think the President saw over the past seven-plus years the delay in bringing the very people to justice that committed terrorist acts on this soil and on foreign soil; that that delay in seeking swift and certain justice was what he decided to change through his executive order in changing the legal architecture by which these terrorists would finally be brought to justice.
"I think the American people will in this administration see those actors brought to the swift and certain justice that was not brought to them in the previous administration.''

I guess this week's Obama White House instructions to their tame reporter buddies are to demonize Dick Cheney.
Journalism schools must have a required course titled "Obey David Axelrod." And if the student earns an A in this course, he's hired to write for The Swamp.

The future of the GOP is very bleak if it's Cheney and Limbaugh fighting for the post of symbolic leader of the cause...

If Gibby can use Rush Limbaugh and Vice-President Cheney as distractions, while BO runs up record federal deficits and more than doubles the national debt, then that is just what they will do. Of course, the accomplices in the MSM, such as "Marq" Silva will play along.

These two are not rivals. They were separated at birth to spread the Christian Capitalist word. .............

Who else but Dick Cheney could one-up Rush Limbaugh on anti-American rhetoric.
Limbaugh wants the Obama and his economic policies to fail.
Cheney wants a terrorist attack on Obama's watch.

Oh, Mark, did the Obama White House help you write this little piece of amateurish propaganda? They did? Well, it was pretty clear from reading it that you had help. So, Mark, did you really work your way up in life so you can be someone's little whipping boy? No wonder the Chicago Obune becomes more of a joke each and every day.

Terry- The budget deficits started with the most overrated U.S. President ever, Ronald Reagan and continued through the very worst President, Bush #43. Maybe you should pick up a U.S. history class at a community college somewhere to clue you in on things. Take an economics 101 course too, that's not your forte either. Or just continue listening to the bloated blabberhead Drug Limp-baugh

Little Johnny D,
It really is quite hilarious reading your demented ramblings. What is the word for someone who calls something a piece of crap and returns ever single day to "consume" this so-called crap only to complain about it once again? Pathetic?

Doogie,
.
Compare the deficits of President Reagan and President Bush with those of BO's. BO's dwarfs them (with the exception of 2008). Plus, his $500 billion deficits assumes 10 years of economic expansion at 4% per year. Doubt that. He'll be pushing $700-800 billion if he gets all his European Socilist wishlist.
.
I don't have to go and read a history book, I lived the Reagan years - greatest 8 year turnaround of an economy ever.
.
As far as economics, let me know when you have studied at the post-graduate level. I've forgotten more than you'll ever know.

re: "I guess this week's Obama White House instructions to their tame reporter buddies are to demonize Dick Cheney."
Actually, the majority of Americans saw Dick Cheney demonizing the President of the United States.
This is the problem the GOP has: The American people don't like Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney, the spokesmen for the GOP.
In contrast, the majority of us like President Obama and think he is doing a good job. We all HOPE that Robert Gibbs demonizes Dick Cheney every single day for the next eight years (or so).
