President Barack Obama, planning his second prime-time news conference in two months, will address Americans next week the way he likes to do it: In person.

The White House has scheduled a news conference Tuesday, March 24, at 8 pm EDT, and the television networks are lining up to broadcast it.

This is a president who delivers weekly addresses on the Internet, in person, and whose party circulates web-video of his messages in pursuit of support for his agenda.

He addressed the House and Senate in joint session, not really a State of the Union address, but just like one, in prime-time, and he held his first news conference as president, on Feb. 8, in prime-time.

Things haven't gotten much better for the economy since Obama faced the nation, in prime-time, in early February, and warned that failure of the government to act on his economic stimulus plan "could turn a crisis into a catastrophe."

Congress passed the plan. He signed it.

Now the government is up to its bailouts in controversy, with the bailed-out insurance giant AIG embroiled in a bonus imbroglio, unemployment at a 25-year high and mortgage foreclosures nearing epidemic level in some places.

And Obama, once again, will talk about the way forward.

In prime-time.

President Obama needs to be straight with the American people. If he desires everyone in Washington to work together for the common good then he should advise Speaker Pelosi and Senate President Reid that they cannot ignore those in the opposing party when it comes time to draft legislation.

Pelosi and Reid are responsible for the AIG mess as they crafted this legislation without working with the opposite party and that is why every republican, except 3, voted against same.

Why waste Obama's time? Just put his TelePrompter on the podium and display what it has written for Obama to say. The big mystery, of course, is whether Obama will ever learn to look into the lens of the camera -- and therefore us dopes who are watching -- instead of just swiveling his head from the left TP screen to the one on the right.

Your not a tv star!.Your suppose to be the President of the United States.
I suggest you start acting it.

The democrats are responsible for not removing salary and bonuses out of the AIG bailout. Chris Dodd is taking the fall.

Democrats were specifically asked to remove the provision in the bailout and they REFUSED!

Just saw a few moments of Obama's Townhall meeting this evening. It is a "structured" event where one can hear the "oh,yes", "praise God", "alright" reponses from the minorities in the audience.

It's a town meeting, not a church meeting and Obama is not God.

Did note that there was not the usual enthusiasm from the audience as has been in the past. Little clapping when Obama spoke about taxes.

People are now starting to realize who will bear the burden of Obama's programs.

The tide is turning.

Put a tea bag outside your house to indicate to Obama's grassroots neighborhood doorknockers that you don't want to be taxed to death and don't bother to knock.

.................

The fake outrage and propaganda on here from the Republican sheep is hilarious.

Republicans are almost as dangerous when they're out of power (Timothy McVeigh) as they are when they're in power (Iraq, torture, war crimes).

Why don't you and your butt buddy Glenny Beck go teabag yourselves, Kenny.

Big Brother Obama 24/7 will be appearing in a movie theater near you.

In the end there call only be "FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE"

Bailing out failing financial institutions is the equivalent of resuscitating the disease that got us into this mess: too much borrowing.

Unless we can change our "credit culture", I don't think we will ever be able to move forward.

The Brits call Obama "President Teleprompter."

Way to pick out those responses from "minorities". You have such a good ear to pick them out from a crowd on TV. Sorry those monorities offend you. Just leave a sheet outside with your stupid tea bag. Throw in a burning cross if you wish.

Obama's press conference will bump NBC's "Biggest Loser" out of its usual time slot.

Or perhaps more accurately, replace one "Biggest Loser" with another "Biggest Loser."
