White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs could barely conceal his enjoyment of the public whipping, metaphorically speaking of course, which comedian Jon Stewart administered to CNBC stock tout Jim Cramer.
In response to a question at today's White House press briefing, Gibbs said:
The president and I talked earlier in the day about watching it. I forgot to e-mail and remind him it was on. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Even though as Mr. Stewart said that it may have been uncomfortable to conduct and uncomfortable to watch. I thought somebody asked a lot of tough questions and I am not surprised that the video of Mr. Cramer's appearance doesn't appear on CNBC's website today.
Gibbs, it will be recalled, had a very public spitting match which Chicago-based CNBC reporter Rick Santelli who a few weeks ago had a famous (or infamous) on-air rant against President Barack Obama's housing rescue plan.

Which spokesman? Gibbs or Frank James?

Notice how we haven't heard from CNBC's Rick Santelli lately??
HAHAHA!!
Santelli watched Cramer get destroyed by Jon Stewart and now he's hiding under the desk in his office.

Is this what this administration is all about? Gloating about the personal attacks between a comedian and an idiot stock picker?? Attacking Rush Limbaugh? Maybe somebody should remind Obama that he is the leader of the free world....Grow up and start acting like it!!!!!!

Hey Joe,
Santelli didn't have the balls to show up on Stewarts show. The little rich Republican wimpy boy cancelled....

The Chicago-style politics is finally emerging to let us know who Obama really is. Trying to divert attention to the WH's failure to come up with constructive economic policies rather than earmarks and political paybacks. Well, we the people made the choice, and what a price to pay!!

Hopefully this will bring an end to Cramer's TV show. It was sweet when Jon knocked little Tucker bow tie off the air.
Maybe he should get Glen Bllleck and Hunnity on??
He could shrink them. They need it as bad as Rush.

Are you saying, Frank James, that you are defending reporters of MSNBC right now? Or maybe trying to lighten the load of heat MSNBC will be taking by contrasting something Gibb's said in an interview? This is directly or indirectly making millions of average investors go bankrupt! It's all just smoke and mirrors. 'Investors' or reporters on MSNBC have gambled away all there credibility over this. For WHAT? Making an extra buck? Or was it just to make us jump through that hoop again? Think of the image being portrayed of Americans to everyone around the world. I'm incredibly frustrated about all of this. This market is making me nauseous.

Wingnutter Joey,
Mullah Limbaugh is precisely relevant to the matter of the economy because he has made himself a major player -- and certainly its most visible one -- in the fight over President Obama's legislative package for getting the economy back on its feet.
Does anyone doubt for a minute that Republicans in both the House and the Senate would have been as significantly lockstep, completely uniformly obstructionist, in voting against the stimulus bill had it not been for Limbaugh, with his idiot Repub minons manning the phone lines to deal rapidly and harshly with any hapless Republicans who might even hint toward acting ratinal? Is there any doubt their leverage helped Blue Dogs water the bill down enough to make it potentially short of what's needed?
Trying to pretend Limbaugh is just a sideshow, when in fact he's been a key player in how the economic fix has proceeded -- and particularly in how it's been discussed and shaped -- is a good meme for Republicans. But it also runs aground on the sharp rocks of reality.
Druggy Limbaugh has become the most important means of Republicans maintaining their insane outdated ideological rigidity through hardline party discipline, especially on economic matters. So when Dems go after Limbaugh as the face of the GOP, that's because -- by default -- that's what he is right now. And it's not looking like it will change anytime soon, either; do you see any real potential winners among that crop of Republican politicians right now? (I for one am waiting for them to recruit Glenn Beck to run on the Sarah Palin ticket ...)
So when President Obama brought Limbaugh up -- "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done" -- it was precisely in the context of solving the economic mess. And he's right: If Republicans are just listening to Druggy Rush and, like him, reflexively rejecting every proposal he offers, and moreover reflexively working for his failure for cold political calculations, then they're not going to be part of getting anything done in the next four years, especially not in terms of getting the economy back up and running...and they will remain in the minority
The public doesn't want the standard old Conservative tax cuts for the rich "solutions" to these problems -- which is all the GOP has to offer -- and Republicans are going to have to learn to deal with that fact. The only remaining question is whether they're going to be part of the solution, or part of the problem. With Druggy Rush leading them, we already have our answer.

Armitage, Rove, Libby etc etc...they were all taking orders from Darth and it was Shrub Jr who ignored it.

When the raucous laughter subsides perhaps people will realize that Cramer taught them more about personal responsibility in 'doing their homework' and self-reliance on their financial investments. Tips are for waiters.
Jon Stewart doesn't understand Cramer's value as a business entertainer, and he paints the American people as a bunch of gullible sheep who blindly trust their retirements to 401Ks. The same kind of people that will blindly trust the government to take care of them from cradle to grave.
Sure, some of the blame can go to corrupt people on Wall Street, but some of the blame can also go to the ostriches on Main Street too.
Gibbs is acting as a mere bellwether for the demise of capitalism under the Obama socialist regime, and it is greeted with a laugh track.

David, It is true that Americans who want to guide their financial destiny by playing the market are not the gullible 401k investors that Jon Stewart is protecting. Jon is speaking about the millions of Americans that were trying to play it safe and were counting on their government and relying on the financial experts to not sell us short by taking their quick rich .5% margins and in the process knowingly allow THEIR investment of our pension plans and retirement plans be placed on unstable ground through what any financial expert knows is not a safe margin. These guys pocketed millions with know sense of personal responsibility to job they had trying to protect the investments of the monies for which they were made responsible. The get rich quick investor gets what he deserves, but the guy who loses his pension after working for 45 years because-- out of his control-- investments on his retirement and on subprime mortgages which end up reducing his home value after he his met his obligation... have ruined him while some selfish hedgefund manager made millions on the bad investments by taking money off the top out of this guys control. So now to be a responsible investor... you can't trust the banks, you can't trust the pension funds, you can't trust insurance... because the ones who are supposed to by their very vocations be looking out for investor's health are selling those investors down the river for their own personal wealth. The TV guys like Cramer supported the process event though they knew better. And we are all left holding the bag with nothing left to do but put our money in a mattress or coffee can because maybe that is where it is safest.

David,
Capitalism already self destructed when Reganomics finally collapsed in the 4th quarter of last year.
Bush had already driven the bus off the cliff when he handed over control and bailed out the side window.
Now Obama has to try to pick up the pieces after the bus has hit the canyon floor.
Re. the 401k problem. America is now married to them, and it's going very wrong.
An individual has little practical control over their 401k funds. You can select aggressive, balanced or conservative, but to try to react to the market and change in a timely manner makes no sense.
If you are 'aggressive' and the market turns down, it's too late to go conservative, and your advisor will tell you not to change now, as you will just lock in the losses. If you want to change while the market is up, he will tell you that you would be nuts to change now.
Kinda like Cramer.

"Capitalism already self destructed when Reganomics finally collapsed in the 4th quarter of last year." Do you have any facts to support this statement of fertilizer or this just a copy and past job from the Dail Kos? Please show some correlation between "Reaganomics and the current recession". If you can't, you are just slinging the manure.
.
Another thing genius, you are supposed to be a day trader with you 401K money. The 401K is the perfect retirment package for today's mobile work force. Most private sector employees do not stay in the same job for 40 years. It's not like finding a cushy gov't run job, work until you are 55 and have the taxpayers pay you for 30 years while you sit in a rocking chair.
.
Reading you investment advise, I sure hope you have a guarenteed pension.

Really? Haven't you noticed all the tea parties cropping up all around the country? Oh wait, I forgot, the lib propagandists are conveniently forgetting to cover those. Well, I was one of 5,000 people gathered in Cincinnati yesterday for the biggest one so far, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. You state you have little control - that is absolutely wrong. You can control the investments based upon your risk tolerance and the other important item is the amount of time you have left until retirement.
