"Si se puede,'' President Barack Obama told his TV audience last night.
Obama's personal media tour, a one-man campaign to communicate with Americans outside the bubble of his office and the shield of the Washington media, has carried him from ESPN to Jay Leno's couch and to his own online "firewire'' chat at the White House this week.
Last night, it was the Latin music awards.
Obama, who carried the Hispanic vote comfortably in his election as president, was talking about civic participation and opportunity in his brief appearance on Univision's Premio Lo Nuestro last night. And he was talking about Latin music in his pre-recorded message aired during the show.
The awards ceremony was staged at Miami's BankUnited Center, in the capital of a Cuban-American voting bloc that has provided a solid base for the GOP, but whose younger voters have trended more Democratic lately. Their shift to the Democratic column helped Obama carry Florida in 2008.
Last night, Obama was talking about other award winners.
"I want to thank the millions of you who voted for tonight's winners,'' the president told his Univision audience, "and I also want to thank all of you who voted in that other election back in November - even if it wasn't for me.
"With the challenges we face right now, it is absolutely critical that you stay involved and make your voices heard,'' Obama said. "I want you to know that I will always be listening, and my administration is working hard so that we can expand opportunity for all Americans and reach that better day.
"Now I know you tuned in for Premio Lo Nuestro, so let me get right to it.,''' the president said. "I don't know who'll get married tonight or who'll get Video of the Year, but I know you're in for some great performances that celebrate the rich diversity of Latin music, and that's good news.
"So enjoy the show,'' he said, "y para los nominados que se preguntan si esta será su noche, les digo, ¡si se puede!''
(English translation: "And for all those nominees wondering if tonight is their night, let me just say, ¡yes you can!'')

The guy is everywhwere. Tune into Univision to see the musical performances and the Awesom Latinas, but first you have to endure Obama. Try to watch American Manufactured Idol but it is displaced by Obama. Phillies vs. Marlins, but first there has to be an Obama Infomercial. Leno, u get Obama. Go to the bookstore to buy Mark Levine's excellent book, "Liberty and Tyranny", you need a GPS to navigate around all the tables dedicated to Obama The guy is everywhere. I knock on the door before I enter the bathroom. You know Who is probably in there, in some form or another.
Liberals, democrats, it really don't matter to me anymore, but does this or does this not have at least a slight Mao quality to it. Every day there is a new pronouncement, a new Here's What We Should Be Working On In Order To Continue To Survive. Even Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid probably could not escape and find refuge from all things Obama. They would be saying: "Who the heck is this Guy?" Argentina would not be far enough.
Consider this Amerika, there is some "hope". Isn't Levine's book "Liberty and Tyranny" just about the most timeliest thing ever. Tend to be very fond of the first concept, do fear the latter. UnLike Kunta Kinte, they will have to cut off a lot more than my foot to fully implement the latter. What do we have to do today, Amerika? Have a nice day in your part of Amerika N Transition.

To which the Hispanics I know respond:
"Where's the beef?"
Meaning, what about fixing the law starting with 245i and 212c,
and what about letting CIS know that Bush is no longer president and they no longer have a license to abuse anyone and everyone.

well previous poster I don't understand your post. I read what 245i and 212c are and you think Bush abused the power? I think the Hispanics you refer to are illegals and well I agree they they do be dealt with...but from what I get you are glad Bush is out and the new administration Obama/Pelosi want all those illegals here that somehow were able to vote for them? can you say ACORN!!!

Mo, baby, when 245 i and 212 c are reinstated, Obama won't get 66% of the Hispanic vote; it will be more like 89%.
And maybe you'll have to pay your nanny, gardiner, waiter, housekeeper their social security taxes.
