If a picture is worth 1,000 "I hope he fails,'' a commercial works too.
Americans United for Change, the union-backed Democratic organization that already has been having some ad-fun with the opposition, offers a new ad for cable TV consumption asking this about the weekend summit of the Conservative Political Action Committee at which radio's Rush Limbaugh stood his ground against President Barack Obama.
"Who is the leader Republicans hailed as a leader last weekend?'' the narrator asks. "Was it Sarah Palin?
"Nope, nope, nope,'' says a seemingly familiar female voice.
Bobby Jindal... no, no, no.. Michael Steele... no, no, no.... you get it.
"Then who, not Rush Limbaugh?
"Yes, yes, yes, yes....''
Talk about taking a guy's words out of context.
It's time, as our colleague at the Top of the Ticket, Andrew Malcolm, has noted of another colleague's work, for the Republican Party to trot out Michael Moore, their best nominee for leader of the Democratic Party.
Except, that would actually be Obama.

Yeah.....let's say that. Yeah...that's it.

"The dirty little secret ... is that every Republican in this country wants Obama to fail, but none of them have the guts to say so; I am willing to say it". - Rush Limbaugh
As we continue our search for Republicans willing to utter the four little words, "Rush Limbaugh is wrong," let's take a few moments to look at some other deep thoughts from The Voice of the Republican Party aka Mullah Limbaugh:
>> "If Barack Obama were Caucasian, they would have taken this guy out on the basis of pure ignorance long ago."
>> "Hey, Barack Obama has picked up another endorsement: Halfrican American actress Halle Berry. "As a Halfrican American, I am honored to have Ms. Berry's support, as well as the support of other Halfrican Americans," Obama said. He didn't say it, but" --
>> "The NAACP should have riot rehearsals. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies."
>> "Now I got something for you that's true--1972, Tufts University, Boston. This is 24 years ago--or 22 years ago. Three year study of 5000 co-eds, and they used a benchmark of a bra size of 34C. They found that the--now wait. It's true. The larger the bra-size, the smaller the IQ."
>> "One of the things I want to do before I die is conduct the Homeless Olympics... [Events would include] the 10-meter Shopping Cart Relay, the Dumpster Dig, and the Hop, Skip and Trip."
>> "If we are going to start rewarding no skills and stupid people--I'm serious, let the unskilled jobs, let the kinds of jobs that take absolutely no knowledge whatsoever to do--let stupid and unskilled Mexicans do that work."
... and ask ourselves, are these more "dirty little secrets" that every Republican believes but only Limbaugh has the guts to say? Would Republican lawmakers be willing to say that Rush Limbaugh is wrong about these comments? Or this:

I can't believe the GOP is letting this happen. What with the Viagra, trips to the Dominican Republic for, well, you know what, the Oxycontin, the failed relationships, the thousands of documented lies and the absolute repulsiveness of Rush you would think someone in the GOP would stand up and put Rush in his place. But they don't! They are afraid of him and his lunatic fringe listeners. Until the GOP can stand up to its nuttiest factions and assert control over its message it will not be able to regroup.
While I'm no fan of the GOP, the country really does need a second political party. With Rush Limbaugh and those like him (Ann Coulter, Mike Savage, etc) as its spokesman and lacking a voice of reason the GOP is facing total irrelevance.

Obama's mentor Saul Alinsky's Handbook for Radicals outlines the techniques used by this administration to try and break any link between Rush Limbaugh's influence and the GOP.
-
The president knows well that marginalizing and demonizing his strongest opponents could intimidate the fainthearted into supporting or withholding criticism of his policies... and increase his chances for success. It's basically a divide-and-conquer approach. It's obvious that the goal is to single Rush Limbaugh out, pick him off, and pull him away from influencing the GOP.
-
Where the Democrats are wrong is that every time they attack Limbaugh, his audience grows. Republicans can simply keep him at arm's length, as Cantor is doing, while enjoying all the benefits of Rush's daily assault on Obama's character, policies, and judgement.
-
And I love how these Obama and his Boy-Robin Emanuel are condescendingly referring to Limbaugh as an "entertainer"... please.
-
Yeah, he IS and "entertainer"... and an influental one, who became highly successful in the free market- because millions of people want to hear what he has to say. And a lot of conservatives are glad he's around, because a lot of it needs to be said... when nobody else in the party is saying it. I don't listen to the show actually, but you don't see the GOP putting him in the Senate, do you? Or any office whatsoever?
-
Just compare that to Al Franken... has Obama forgot all about that? Franken's radio show was a flop because few wanted to hear his boring anti-American drivel, but that didn't stop the DNC from putting this bozo on the ballot for Senator- And they'd have done the same for Chris "Tingle" Matthews if the polls wouldn't have revealed widespread revulsion at the thought.
-
Has that Franken done anything in his life other than "entertainer" and author... same as Limbaugh? So, a failed entertainer is OK for Senator... but a successful one (who is a major threat to Obama, apparently) isn't allowed to even have influence on his own political party?
-
Limbaugh and the GOP would be well-advised to ignore these malicious hypocrites, and don't take the bait and play their game. Obama looks desperate going after Limbaugh, so just let him go down with his ill-advised policies... shouldn't take long now.

The comparison to Michael Moore is right on. Both fat, self-promoting loudmouths with high school diplomas. To his credit, Moore doesn't have a list of racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic quotes to his name. Although I guess he's "unpatriotic," which the right considers worse, somehow.
In any event, I could imagine if the dems were in a similar situation, Moore might easily speak to an audience of enthused lefties and might go head to head with Kaine or Pelosi. That's a fair comparison, in my view.

The more people hear from the leader of the republic party, Druggy Rush, the further their party sinks. The Independents will pick off moderate republics and probably pass them up by 2012.
What a lovely thought.

You're a F_A_I_L_U_R_E
Your Repuglican party is a F_A_I_L_U_R_E
Your hero, Ronny Raygun, was a F_A_I_L_U_R_E.
It sucks to be you, doesn't it?

Reaganite, you should change your name to Rushite. You're pathetic.
Reagan was tough and ideological at times - though pragmatic enough to raise taxes, withdraw from Lebanon, do a deal with Communists, and invade Grenada rather than Iraq. But he was always civil. He would never have spent half his speech lambasting, ridiculing, demonizing, hating and riling half the country he knew he needed to persuade. He was interested in promoting ideas to address the problems of his time - not regularly naming and smearing anyone who disagreed with him. He had class. Stylistically, Obama is far closer to Reagan than Limbaugh. When, one wonders, will the sane Republicans get that?

Repukelicans have to check with Druggy Rush to see if it is ok with him before they ask if it is ok with the American public. To put this in another way, Repukelicans and Democrats both believe in the role of goverment. For Democrats, it is the United States goverment and for Repukelicans it is the government of Rush Limbaugh.

Wow. Does this mean DNC can run telly spots of Rush Windbag spouting the I hope he fails mantra?
On the interconnected cables of networks?
That might discredit Windbag. And his party.
How soon can they be up & running?

btw, what was Rush doing with viagra down there anyways? It would be so great if one of his romp buddies down there came forward. Male or female? who knows. ;)

Notice the Rushpublican party appartchiks have not been able to produce a video of even one Democratic politician or poster saying 'I hope Bush fails'.

RR,
Are you posting from your work computer? We just wonder where you get the time.
Al F. HAS won a senatorial election, unlike Rush.

Rush is the Republicans next step in the natural progression to rock bottom failure.
Their reality has lapped our satire, now its busy lapping its way up its own arse.
The GOP's current team is the true definition of having a "thin bench" in the sports terms that Druggy Rush likes to use.
The GOPer's have no leadership, very little policy experience, and virtually no communications skills. This is why they have to keep calling on Gingrich and DeLay to defend them, despite their personal records of scandal, disgrace and failure.

Obama is building rush limbaugh up to be the next gop leader because 1. limbaugh will tear the republican party to right and will leave the political centre to the democrats 2. It will keep domocrats from listening fox channel and 3. With his IQ limbaugh will be a very handy opponent for Obama.

Ronald Reagan, Reaganite Republican, was a fraud and a failure. Tells us all about his Beirut Lebanon adventure and 241 dead blown up U.S. Marines in October 1983. Then he abrupts withdraws them and invades...Granada.
The Republicrats will lose big for a 3rd time with the drug/ viagra addict bloated one Limp-baugh acting as their spokesman. The Republicrat party is dysfunctional and has no effective leadership.

Love how the right-wingers keep bringing up Michael Moore. Unlike Rush Windbag, he actually uses facts in his movies. I can see why that might cause the GOP pain, they have made lying a major plank in their platform, and Rush is certainly a master at that!
