President Barack Obama is "open for questions.''
"Here's how it works,'' explains Mitch Stewart, director of Organizing for America, the permanent Obama campaign that the DNC is overseeing. "President Obama is inviting everyone to ask a question about the economy and to rate other questions up or down.''
Thursday morning, the president will conduct an online "town hall" on the economy and answer some of the most popular questions live.
"This first round will deal with the economy,'' Stewart is telling supporters of the president in an email. "Americans deserve to know what their government is doing to get our economy back on track.''
The White Hosue said this afternoon that 32,337 people had submitted 33,477 questions and cast 1,201,331 votes on the best ones. The voting closes at 9:30 am EDT, and the online chat with the president comes at 11:30 am EDT Thursday.
You can vote and/or log in with your question for Obama at the White House Website.

Mr. President you keep saying that you don't want the United States to
be dependent on foreign oil, all the while we have great energy reserves throughout the Southwest and along our coasts and in the Gulf of Mexico. Why won't you allow drilling when you know full well we have more resources then all the arab countries combined. It seems to me that we could be using these resources while we search for alternative sources, like solar and nuclear. Not all your programs need to be started all at once putting a strain on our budget.I sure would like an answer to these questions, and I believe a great many other Americans would like to hear the answer as well.

Not satisfied with passing along all the White House press releases, Mark Silva decides to give equal treatment to--the permanent Obama/DNC campaign.
You got to admire Mr. Silva, giving equal time to both the Democratic White House and the Democratic Party. This is journalism at its finest.

The bottom line is that the president and his handlers still get to cherry-pick the questions.

The people of Florida would prefer you give up the drill, baby, drill routine, Paul. Actually it would take years to find and drill that Gulf oil anyway. So your premise is wrong.

Oh I get it. When Bush was President the word 'Dissent' was unpatriotic but now its patriotic because Obama is President? As usual Republicans=Hypocrites.

We've wasted years and years and years preventing domestic drilling and the addition of refineries in the US (hasn't been one built in over 25 years); another reason for constrained fuel supplies. Approvals require some 800 permits, years in court fighting environmentalists, and between $2 & $4 billion with b due to regs and delays. Dems love to say "it takes too long to bring domestic oil on line" at the same time they prevent it from becoming reality. Also, interesting how many questions from Obama voters have to do with legalizing marijuana. I'm beginning to sense a pattern.

i am a 51 year old single female that has worked sinced i was 16 years old,i cant hardly walk,i cant left anything over 5 lbs,i now am on disability and tell my why some draw more than others. i know a single women that is half my age and draws two times more than i do, all i want to know is how can you send billions of dollors to people who doesnt know what meaning of a dollor is, and let them waste it on non sense when people on disability could use it.why dont you do this, give everyone 1 million dollors so that we can get out of debt and maybe that will boost the economy and let the poor and under paid get ahead in this life time, i think this is a great idea.

Is it any surprise that marijuana legalization remains THE top most question (or questions) of all in at least two topics?I say legalize it, tax it, stop wasting money on building prisons for those that smoke it and stop losing ones tax base by taking peaceful consensual adults off of the tax rolls with stupid arrests and incarcerations. Alas, he will dodge the question once again.

Flo...(Ten) years ago the democrats said, forget about drilling in Alaska, it'll take (ten) years to get the oil here...duhhh.
Obama's wet dream of windmills and solar energy to take the place of oil and coal are 30-years in the future.

As far as the oil is concerned, the oil companies closed many refineries themselves years ago and never planned to build a new one. Why do you think they continue to rake in billions in profits? You think they want the PPE, maintenance and cost of employee salaries and benefits? I for one minute do not think they would drill and do more exploration. They would have to lay out some capital and they are earning enough profit as it is thank you very much. Unless of course they could get a governor or two and some fat cats in congress to use our tax dollars to fund their adventures in drilling. So I guess my question is would the president use federal dollars to help oil companies find new sources of oil?

THE PRESIDENT AND THE DEMOCRAT PARTY HAVE SUCCESSFULLY STARTED A CLASE WAR IN THE YNITED STATES. PEOPLE WHO ARE OVER ACHEIVERS AND MAKE MORE MONEY DUE TO THEIR HARD WORK ARE BEING DEPISED BY PEOPLE WHO WANT TO CASH IN ON THEIR GOOD FORTUNE. HERE'S AN IDEA,. GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND REINVENT YOURSELF!

Perhaps you should consider going back to school and learn the English language first before anything else. You can get a high school diploma from home too!

At the very least off shore oil drilling should be off the table. The oil spill by the Exon Valdez proved that oil companies will not pay for the clean up will not pay for damages and will not follow safety regulations. Drilling for oil in the US. has become another scam for the oil companies they refuse to agree to keep the oil in the US.Oil companies will drill for oil put the oil on the open market with OPEC and sell it to the highest bidder. OPEC will still have the ability to cut production to drive up prices and our oil companies can do the same. Our situation will not change Oil companies will make more profits and we will be stuck with paying high cost and stuck with any clean up. Its still a loose loose situation for us. We need to read the fine print and stop listening to the spin.

Somehow it seems your under the impression that if you don't make gobs of money, you aren't working hard. I'm guessing you probably don't make over....say....100K a year. I guess that means you need to get off your butt also. What clase [sic] are you in? and who do you depise [sic]?

"Scott', it's a bit hypocritical for you to criticize someone else's spelling when you can't spell yourself. Among your other blunders, "its patriotic" (see above) should be "it's patriotic."

Mary -- I think the amount you receive on disability (I assume you mean Social Security Disability benefits?) is related to what your salary was.

Um, ok, so you're comparing a completely misspelled and grammatically incorrect post to my one little typing error?
And:
Mary is just an example of "you reap what you sow" with all the liberal policies of hand outs.
Posted by: Terry | March 26, 2009 10:20 AM
That makes no sense at all. Mary IS reaping what she sowed, thats why she is poor. If the liberal hand out policies were applied, as you suggest, then Mary wouldnt NEED any more help!

We have a bill payment Center and the customers are having a hard time paying their utilities. Is there any help out there for them and what can be done about these utility companies that have raised their rates like the water company 65%

Scotty,
.
Your solution to her was to "Perhaps you should consider going back to school and learn the English language first before anything else. You can get a high school diploma from home too!"
.
What did 13 years of gov't education get her. I thought you made more money than imaginable, I'm sure you should be able to help her, correct?
Posted by: Terry | March 28, 2009 3:09 PM
Mort,
.
I don;t think I would want to marry your smarter sister.
