The president's planned Notre Dame appearance draws the 'shock troops'

The Swamp

by Mark Silva

Add Randall Terry, the radical anti-abortion activist, to the lineup protesting President Barack Obama's appearance at Notre Dame.

"This agent of death,'' Terry is calling the president, in typical Terry fashion.

And he's calling in his "shock troops.''

The Operation Rescue Founder, joining others in protesting Obama's commencement address May 17 at the Catholic university because of the president's support for abortion rights, plans a press conference at the gates of the campus on Saturday and is opening an office in South Bend "to lead ongoing protests aimed at cancelling President Obama's speech.''

The Catholic bishop for the region, Bishop John D'Arcy, already has announced his plans to boycott the president's commencement address - one of tthree graduation speeches that Obama will make this spring, along with commencements at Arizona State University and the U.S. Naval Academy.

"The faithful Catholic world is justly enraged at the treachery of Notre Dame's leadership,'' Terry claims. "But anger, hand wringing, and on-line petitions are not enough. My mission is to funnel that energy into concrete actions on the ground in South Bend.

"Social activism requires shock troops. We intend to provide those shock troops with leadership,'' says Terry, known for the high-drama, some call it shocking, nature of his abortion protests. "Notre Dame will rue the day they invited this Agent of Death to speak."

Terry also has taped a video in front of the White House.and spells out his plans for protest at his Website

Wow, A call to violence. How very, very Christian of him.

The Talichristians unite.

Where was this moron, during the Bloodbath in Baghdad !! I don't think their God supports the killing and maiming of innocent men, women and children, either in Gaza or Baghdad !! That's another issue, though, right !!?
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

Abortion (right or wrong) has been legal long before Obama became president 2 months ago...how many deaths are catholics responsible for?

Abortion (right or wrong) has been legal long before Obama became president 2 months ago.

More crap from the radical right-wing religious nuts....
http://carapace.weblogs.us/images/Republican%20Jesus%20repjesus57.gif

Twattle at it's best. Francis' says that this is a call "TO VIOLENCE" instead of a plea to stop the murder of millions of the unborn. There is NO CALL TO VIOLENCE in Mr. Terry's comments. By the way.... abortion is legal because the unborne don't get to vote. Then we have Bill R. who like a typical mindless liberal robot compares Christianity to the Taliban and Islam. Christians tell people where the Bible says they are going against God's nature and will and plead for them to repent.... Islam sends anyone they have displeasure with to the next reality with bomb blasts and cutting their heads off on video.... Wake up and smell the reality.... better yet... study the Bible and see where this world is headed.

I'm so weary of this stuff. Ratzi and his reich wing friends like bushboy, must have given the order.

Bottom line: use birth control so the pedofile priests can't bugger your boys, or rape your girls.

Shouldn't this corporate institution be bankrupt by now?

As a child, I had no choice but to be a Catholic, but now I would not even consider listening to these pukes.

Your spirituality is your responsiblity. The CC is corrupt to the core.

What a strange, selective and narrow interpretation of the Old Testament's commandment, "Thou shalt not kill".

I guess that's what extreme absolutism dose to the brain. Fortunately, we now have drugs that could probably help these people, if only they knew how sick they really are.

What must disturb Mr Terry the most is that the president is tempered in his opposition to Mr Terry's rabid viewpoint on abortion. Mr Obama can connect with all but the fanatic opponents of choice by being a proponent for limiting the need for having an abortion. The president has advocated a far more reasoned approach to the problem of abortion than was present in the years of Clinton and Bush.

Boycotting the President I suspect will turn out to backfire, it will be perceived much like Shooting the Dr was, but on a more tempered score.

There certainly is a call to violence. What do you think "Shock troops" do? How exactly do you think they mean to make ND "Rue the day"? Violence.
I hope the Secret Service watch's the activities of his "Shock Troops" (Or shall we call them the Sturmabteilung) very closely.

Don't you see how childish some of you are? Yeah, Terry's a bit radical, but so are people who compare any and all Christians to the Taliban, a known terrorist group. Christians aren't perfect and have been responsible for a great number of wrongs in history...but so have every other group of people, regardless of beliefs.

Richard, your understanding of Islam is as flawed as the others' understanding of Christianity. At its core, Islam is a peaceful religion that holds respect for other "People of the Book" (Jews and Christians). Extremists have morphed it into a religion of violence, like many Christians (those who bomb abortion clinics and kill people because abortion is murder...). Jesus and Mohammad would both be ashamed of many of their "followers."

Then we have Bill R. who like a typical mindless liberal robot compares Christianity to the Taliban and Islam. Christians tell people where the Bible says they are going against God's nature and will and plead for them to repent....

My mistake. I thought Islam was a religion. Just as Christianity is a religion. I can tell you as fact there are more wars faught over "religion" than any other. I can tell you Hitler was a Catholic....I can tell you abortion bombings were from a christian. I can tell you that the bombings in Ireland where between Protestants and Catholics. Here's a little bible for you:

In the New Testament, Jesus Christ is quoted as saying that he had come to bring the sword, to "set father against son and mother against daughter" (Luke 12:53) and called on his followers to "But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me" (Luke 19:27).

Just one of the wide array of right wing nut cases who would dearly like some harm to come to the President.

Richard, your understanding of Islam is as flawed as the others' understanding of Christianity.

Matt.........As you belittle others for comparing Christianity to islam....you find yourself teaching one of your flock not to hate Islam? Hmmmmm........

The radical right-wing religious nuts went to the Republican Party and said, We can work together. You guys can have political power whilst we have the power of the Dark Ages; do we have a deal? The Republican Party said, Deal! But with this deal and with this mixing of politics and religion, a new beast has emerged; a beast that is neither religion nor politics but a repulsive combination of the two. The beast hides behind a curtain and dangles puppets like Barbie Palin and Piyush Jindal on strings.

The right-wing lunatic fringe is just as dangerous when they're out of power (Timothy McVeigh, Eric Rudolph, the Tennessee church shooter) as they are when they're in power (Iraq, war cimes, torture, outing CIA agents).

Is this guy for real? Calling out his shock troops or is it his goon squads, maybe his Revolutionary Guard or the Inquisition? This is just another one of the American mullahs of the US Taliban Conservatives, out to reduce our constitutional republic to a theocratic dictatorship.
Sounds like he's threatening the President. We are all well aware of his perversion of the "sanctity of life" while condoning the assassinations of doctors and healthcare workers providing legal services for Americans.

Oh yea, more fear baiting with another manufactured controversy to raise money so he can talk down to us doing his fire and brimstone dance while stoking up the hate. Seriously, I thought this cat was caught already in some compromising affair with a gay hooker or busted in the mens room tapping for johns, or it least one of his best buddies was. It looks like a 'Hallelujah for Dollars' gearing up a big pathetic fundraiser about scaring folks.

I'm guessing Jill Stanek might have some words of wisdom to offer on this subject. eg. murdering babies already born.

You've gotta love these nutty catholic bishops, they're whining about stem cell research and yet they don't think molesting young boys is a big deal.

The pro-abortion reporter calls Terry a "radical." Perhaps. But surely no more "radical" than Obama who, while in the illinois legislature, kept Illinois safe for infanticide. Obama would use taxpayer money to stab innocent pre-born babies through the head with scissors. He will come to Our Lady's university with his heart stained with the blood of murdered innocents. Herod was the ruling civil authority of his time and place. Would Father Jenkins have invited him to address Notre Dame's graduates?

Haven't heard from this guy in years; it's been nice. He's a terrrorist.

Here is the full text of the Luke 19 passage cited previously. It is important to read the passage in its full context, to avoid creating a "pretext". A text out of context is a pretext. Remember this is Jesus talking, the same Jesus who commanded Christians to love their enemies.

11While they were listening to this, he went on to tell them a parable, because he was near Jerusalem and the people thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear at once. 12He said: "A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself appointed king and then to return. 13So he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas.[a]'Put this money to work,' he said, 'until I come back.'
14"But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, 'We don't want this man to be our king.'

15"He was made king, however, and returned home. Then he sent for the servants to whom he had given the money, in order to find out what they had gained with it.

16"The first one came and said, 'Sir, your mina has earned ten more.'

17" 'Well done, my good servant!' his master replied. 'Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.'

18"The second came and said, 'Sir, your mina has earned five more.'

19"His master answered, 'You take charge of five cities.'

20"Then another servant came and said, 'Sir, here is your mina; I have kept it laid away in a piece of cloth. 21I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did not put in and reap what you did not sow.'

22"His master replied, 'I will judge you by your own words, you wicked servant! You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow? 23Why then didn't you put my money on deposit, so that when I came back, I could have collected it with interest?'

24"Then he said to those standing by, 'Take his mina away from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.'

25" 'Sir,' they said, 'he already has ten!'

26"He replied, 'I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away. 27But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and kill them in front of me."

Population control is the agenda of the most radical left but there are many who want to see about 80% of the worlds population removed. Obama has helped plant the seeds of that agenda knowingly or not.

To become pro abortion one must first be born. Now that's irony for sure.

The number of war victims in Iraq doesn't even equal the number of abortions in the United States in one year.
.
These protestors are no different than those that protest the Iraq war.

Randy, you are a walking, talking poster boy for:

The Separation of Church and State.

I would imagine PRESIDENT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA is heartbroken that the cristofascists like terry will boycott his commencement address at ND. Boo Hoo ! I would imagine that the majority of STUDENTS, you know, the ones for whom the address is intended, are quite pleased that the PRESIDENT of the United States of America is going to speak ! Since when are christians so innocent or is all the history I've studied for so long completely wrong ... there were not 7 Crusades intent on ridding the world of Islam [not even considering the 8th begun by geo. dubyous shrub and co. which has killed well in excess of 100,000 innocents,-mostly women and children]; there was not the Inquisition intent on killing the Jews; there was not the Holocaust intent on eliminating Jews, Gypsies, and homosexuals by evangelicals [mainly Methodists in this case]; oh, and wing-nut evangelical "american taliban" don't advocate murder of doctors, nurses, security guards legally associated with abortion; oh, oh, and what about the psycho "amerikan taliban" at Jonestown, Waco, Oklahoma City, and Atlanta. What about the hate- and fear-mongering ayatollah robertson, falwell, f. graham, reed, weidmon, dogson, et al ... oh, and did I omit the hypocrites haggard, haggie, warren, et al.

Give me a break ... you support the murderous son of a bitch bush, but condemn PRESIDENT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA; you prostrate yourselves in front of the hypocrite poop ratzinger who condemns the use of condoms in Africa to protect against AIDS, who condemns Islam, who speaks out of both sides of his mouth when it comes to the Jews. You bigots need a reality check ! and serious professional help !!!

You seem to imply there is something wrong if a babykilling abortion mill is burned or bombed. Which do you prefer, a pile of bricks or a pile of dead babies? Innocent unborn babies deserve to be protected just as born children deserve to be protected. You would have no problem protecting born children if they were about to be murdered.
SAY THIS PRAYER: Dear Jesus, I am a sinner and am headed to eternal hell because of my sins. I believe you died on the cross to take away my sins and to take me to heaven. Jesus, I ask you now to come into my heart and take away my sins and give me eternal life.

Question: Why are libs so illiberal? Answer - I've never found an answer. It doesn't make sense. These are really faux liberals. real libs are open to other viewpoints. These illberal libs don't like Terry's viewpoint, so they are lazy in their thinking and their response. The reason SO many Catholics are outraged is that this is a president who has done EVERYthing in his power to prove he is THE pro-abort pres, the pro-death, the pro-infanticide pres. He has take EVERY protection Bush eked out for the unborn (against a pro-death Congress) and destroyed it. He has taken MONEY WE NEED and used it to abort babies. He is truly despicable. This is going to be a war.

THIS POST SHOULD BE A WAKE UP CALL FOR CATHOLICS....See what the homosexualized, anti family, anti police, anti military NOBAMATRONS have in store for you? The Nobama brown shirts (Americorp) will be breaking up your demonstrations soon and putting you in those detention camps.

You are well steeped in the propaganda, but entirely wanting in understanding. In context, Jesus’ description of setting mother against father, etc. was a reference to the fact that his teachings would cause a falling out among people who began life in harmony with one another. (BTW the reference to the “sword” was not in Luke 12, but in the parallel text of Matthew 10:34.)) Luke 12:51 makes no mention of a “sword,” but rather, “division.” The sword in Matthew 10:34 was a metaphor for division, not for actual violence. Your citation to Luke 19 is even more out of context, inasmuch as Jesus was speaking a parable concerning the coming of the Kingdom of God. (See Luke 19:11.) The voice was not his own, but rather of a nobleman in the story who was a harsh master. In which case, contrary to your recitation, he did not call upon his followers to do anything, much less anything remotely violent. Further contrary to your statements, Jesus never taught or advocated the use of violence. Just the opposite is true. (See Matthew 5:38-48; 26:52-53.)
.
Second, you suggest that the greatest number of wars have been fought over religion. You are gravely mistaken. Most wars have been (and still are) fought for power, influence and wealth. That has been true throughout the history of Europe. This was true even when the Catholic Church joined the fray. The Crusades, for example, were fought because Muslim nations had encroached upon and conquered Byzantine territory. The Byzantine Empire (i.e. the Eastern Roman Empire) was too weak to fight them and, thus, asked for help from Western Europe. The Catholic Church rallied support entirely due to the political clout it would get for helping the Byzantine Empire. The Church was otherwise totally uninterested in either exterminating the Muslim “heathen” or converting them to Christianity. Were it otherwise, the Crusades would have lasted longer and taken many different turns. All subsequent European wars, whether under the banner of the Catholic Church or not, were fought for the same reason. The basic underlying political fact that seems to escape most people looking at history is that the Catholic Church had become a secular power all on its own by the Eighth Century. That the Church was able to encourage men to aid its purpose by reference to religion should not be surprising. Both sides in our own Civil War appealed to citizens’ religious and patriotic scruples to get them to fight for ideals for which they would not have otherwise gone to war.
.
Your reference to, and insinuations about, Hitler and his ersatz Catholicism fare even worse. Hitler’s government attempted to infiltrate the German Churches and then, failing that, persecuted them for their opposition to him. Go look up the “Theological Declaration of Barmen” of 1934, in which the German Evangelicals denounced the Nazi’s “German Christian” movement and its attempt to make the Church a vassal of the government. When Hitler and his thugs got around to persecuting the Church, they also harassed and oppressed Catholic officials. In contrast to the teachings of the Church, the Nazi propaganda regarding the German “Volk” was a combination of romantic appeal to past greatness and a very un-Christian, Nietzsche-like ideal of a people’s will and power to rule. Hitler did not raise the banner of Christianity or even Catholicism in support of his goals. Thus, whatever his reasons were for waging war, they had nothing to do with Jesus Christ or any recognizable version of Christianity.
.
One other thing for you to consider, although I know it won’t make any difference. That is, atheists killed more people in the 20th Century alone than all religious persecutions and so-called religious wars combined. Nothing the Catholic Church, or Muslims, or any other religion ever did could hold a candle to the likes of Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Tojo or even Hitler (who had abandoned Christianity or any faith in God long before he came to power.)

Souldn't that guy be using all the resources and money that this protest will cost to save some babies he's so worried about. I think that would be a more Christian use of his time and money. Oops..but then he wouldn't have his 15 minutes of fame.

As my friend said once,

Go peddle crazy someplace else.

We are tired of hearing about "infanticide" and babykillers.

Believe whatever you want but stop trying to use government to impose your flippin views on everyone else.

Particularly where you want to block progress in medicine.

More proof that the Radical right has moved beyond principled protest and arguement to full embrace of violence. They truly are scary. They will act on this eventually. One of them will take the step.

Then their fellow travellers wil, say . Oh we didn't mean THAT. Who could have though that all that talk about War and shock troops and killing would lead to actual bloodshed?Oh well, too bad.

Another Tim McVeigh will arise, the right will pay lip service to condemning him, and deep in their hearts they will cheer.

The only lawful purpose of government is the protection of life and property. When government fails to do that or, as we have today, encourages the destruction of life and property, then those of honor must stand in the gap and oppose that destruction!!
Thank goodness for Randall Terry and men and women like him. They are honorable warriors who deserve our full support!!

Terry is just a Bill Ayers of the Right.

Nothing more nor less.

For a long time, the Catholic Church took a benign view of the Democratic Party. In its blind infatuation with the Democratic Party, the Catholic Church was similar to minorities, intellectuals, academicians, the mainstream media, and people in the Northeast generally. That appears to be changing, and not a moment too soon. The Catholic Church is wising up to what the Democratic Party has become.

Would someone please tell me what possible "life" there is in a fertilized, frozen egg ? Especially one that will eventually be destroyed when no longer needed ! My suggestion is that people who object to embryonic stem cell research should make their objections know by signing up on a National register ... and be forever forbidden to benefit in any way from that research, together wiith any family descendant for ... oh, let's say 5 generations ! While I try to respect a persons right to their individual beliefs, I am damn sick and tired of anyone of any belief trying to impose their beliefs on me or anyone else. randall terry, pat robertson, jerry falwell, et al, are as much a terrorist as bin ladin ... they are all sick extremist bastards!

One last point ... maybe ... why did the Secret Service let this wing-nut get this close to the White House ? Actually, he should be issued a restraining order which prohibits him from leaving his sanitarium !

Go peddle crazy someplace else – You got that right! Terry Randall is an absolute psycho and a hate monger. I've got news for him, most practicing American Catholics use and support birth contro; most Catholics support stem cell research and the advance of medicine; most Catholics support the right to an abortion; and most Catholics do not support the bombing of abortion clinics nor the homes of doctors who perform the legal procedure. We don't like people telling us what to think (that goes for conservative, misogynistic church leaders), denying the holocaust, molesting little children, or worse, looking the other way when these things happen. And we don't like right wing nut jobs telling our universities and their student bodies who they can, and can not listen to, much less suggest that the president of the United States should be unwelcome on any campus. We're not the passive little drones you'd like to think we are. Crawl back under your rock. Go Notre Dame!

This guy is a true nut ball.
He steps over the homeless to get on camera for anti abortions. Protects his gay son, and believes in protecting priests as they molest little boys.
When do all the nut balls roll off the table? when Randy Terry is on the table.
Even the nuttiest people fins him offensive.
Koo Koo, Koo Koo....

How any of you can get "violence" from Terry's video is a measure of your complete insanity!

He is absolutely right in everything he says.

As Eurpean, this reminds me Germany in the 1930's. The 'modern' thing to do was to the other side and not to know when the real human race started and how an unwanted human race was 'interrupted'.
Obama is the most pro-abortionist president ever on this country. His ideology and radical views on this issue (partial birth abortion, funding of abortion overseas, including latin countries) and his actions make him responsible for all the deaths he is actively promoting. We should know that and hold him accountable. Having Notre Dame honoring him is like honouring Hitler in 1930's Germany: fashionable but wrong.

You want to talk about violence? Ripping innocent babies from their mother's wombs and killing them is the epitemy of violence! It's as evil as you can get! And we're called a civilized nation? The leaders of our governments and justice systems can't even protect the lives of these men and women of the future??? Everyone of you ask yourself a simple question!!! Would you have liked to have been aborted when you were in your mother's wombs? These babies are our future. You can call these protests violent if you want....they are nothing in comparison to the acts of abortion which they protest!!!
