For Democrats, Rush Limbaugh is the gift that keeps giving.
Given how detested the controversial conservative talk show host is among Democrats and how mentions of him as the Republican Party leader drive to distraction Republicans who view themselves as their party's actual leaders, the Democratic National Committee figures they'll just keep stirring the Rush pot.
So they're asking Democrats to contribute potential slogans for a billboard ad they plan on purchasing in West Palm Beach, Fla., Limbaugh's town.
Here's the e-mail from Jen O'Malley Dillon, the DNC's executive director:
The only Republican leader to challenge Limbaugh -- the chairman of the Republican National Committee -- even called Rush to apologize just a few days later.
But we have no apologies for Rush, just a message. We need you to come up with a slogan, in ten words or less, that we'll put on a billboard where he can't miss it -- in his hometown of West Palm Beach, Florida. Can you help us come up with a message for Rush that we'll place on a billboard right in his hometown?
We'll go through all the slogans we get, and the winner will have his or her message appear on the billboard -- and receive a free T-shirt featuring the winning slogan.
The DNC isn't even asking for any donations. Of course, that will probably come later. If this contest goes viral, they may get a whole lot of new e-mail addresses from individuals they can later solicit.

How about intelligent-thinking people put up a billboard near the Libune Tower? This billboard can note how this "news"paper is a farce, a biased pile of used toilet paper. The day the Chicago Libune closes its doors will be one of the greatest days in Chicago history.

Isn't it ironic that liberals, the so-called champions of the bill of rights, have no problem with the fact that the entire weight of the presidency is being brought to bear to silence the dissent of a private citizen who holds no elective office. I thought dissent was patriotic. Isn't that the mantra you Bush-haters kept chanting for the past eight years? I guess now that Mr. Hope and Change is here, dissent is no longer patriotic. Go figure.

Pretty soon Rush will have a giant statue of himself constructed out of Oxycontin and bile and he'll make all the potential Republican Prez candidates genuflect to it as a show of unquestioning loyalty.

Jabba the Rush asked for this fight when just three days after the inauguration he proclaimed that he wanted Pres Obama to fail. - All of the pretend Republican "leaders" in congress were then forced to either defend Rush -or- speak out against Rush...and then go groveling on their hands and knee's back to him begging for his forgiveness.
The Repukelicans asked for this fight, they got it and now they've lost. And as usual, now they're crying about it.

How about this:
Picture: Rush Limbaughs big fat sweaty head with the letters "GOP" stamped across the forehead.
Caption: Vote Democratic - Because fat and stupid is no way to live.
Okay, that is eleven words, close enough.

Frank James- Your leading comment , "For Democrats, Rush Limbaugh is the gift that keeps giving...." is patently offensive in it's dishonesty. It is offensive in it's bias
-
The only gift being given to the DNC in this case, is one given to them initially by a rabidly political strategy initiated by it;s own leader, Obama and team- this is not a gift it is the original plan and you are now part of it...
This latest gimmick is another self granted "gift" to use your word....
The only "mentions of him (Rush) as their party leader", are coming from the people who started the story line in the first place...your DNC ad hiding behind a thin storyline is weakly attempting to report this a news item...
Please grow a backbone and do the real work of reporting objectively or be honest enough to call yourself a commentator...

This is the state of today's GOP:
* Their most prominent politician (Palin) is a national punchline (even if she is so farsighted as to be able see Russia from her wolf-hunting helicopter).
* Their nominal leader (Steele) is a politician so criminally inept that he made Ben Cardin look exciting and Mitt Romney look culturally sensitive.
* Their most prominent working-class icon is...well, Joe the Plumber, speaks for itsself.
* And their de facto captain (Limbaugh) is the drug-addled successor to Charles Coughlin as the chief demagogic blowhard of the political arena.
The 2009 GOP has turned into a nation wide Side Show Bob circus act.

Yes, stir up the hate from the lefties and the Obama herd gets giddy as their pockets are picked and the country slides further into the Obama recession.

Vast Right Wing Conspirator, A good percentage of Rush's show consists of ridicule. Making fun of Rush does not silence speech. He and his lifestyle make it so easy to poke fun. Why do you and John D. have a strong need to defend him? It sounds like you have some weird sort of attraction to him.
Posted by: pd | March 6, 2009 12:59 PM
"No one is being silenced."
Not yet, but only the most deluded Kool-Aid chugger could believe they're not trying. I have never seen such an Orwellian effort by a sitting president to silence a dissenting voice. Bush tolerated much more abuse from his critics yet never tried to pull the plug on them.
By the way, I'm not against free speech by lefties. Every time one of them opens his mouth, his hopeless vapidity becomes manifest to everyone with a functioning brain. That's a good thing indeed.
Posted by: Vast Right Wing Conspirator | March 6, 2009 1:03 PM
VRWC,
Well, that's kinda how we feel about Rush, too. Let him talk all he wants.
