As the White House chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel is a busy man these days.
So busy, that he forgot to vote absentee in today's 5th Congressional District special general election to replace him in Congress, a race where Democratic Cook County Commissioner Mike Quigley is viewed as the likely winner.
Emanuel was part of the entourage that traveled with President Barack Obama to Iraq today for a surprise visit with troops and leaders there before he returns to the White House this evening.
About 600 soldiers awaited the president at Camp Victory, including one who was transmitting dispatches on the blogging site Twitter.
"I jokingly asked Rahm if he sent in his absentee ballot to vote for Quigley," wrote Nate Van Loon.
The response sure sounds like something Emanuel would say, although it has been edited for a family blog: "He paused and said, "I f***ed up!"
Emanuel's office provided the following response, when asked whether the Twitter post was accurate.
"After voting by absentee ballot in the primary, I realized earlier this week that I had failed to meet the deadline to apply for my absentee ballot for the general election," Emanuel said in a statement. "I was unable to return home today to vote in person because I accompanied the President on his foreign trip."
An aide said that between the budget vote in Congress, planning for the foreign trip and other matters, the deadline for the absentee ballot application slipped between the cracks.

Rahm Emanuel is our first jewish president.
Read his book, The Plan, published BEFORE Obama ran for president.
Spokesperson Obama lifted Rahm's ideas from the book.
The US is becoming Little Israel.
What is happening in Israel is what Rahm wants to happen in the US.
Rahm served in the Israeli army, but never served in our services.
Where does Rahm's loyalties lie?
How can those in the Middle East believe what Obama says when Obama is being led by a radical Jew?

Doesn't he think any more of his former district and constituents than to ignore the election and exhibit indifference?
He reminds me of Rod B. Talented, but with tragic flaws of judgment. Whether he really was in the Israel army or some kind of volunteer doesn't matter as much as the fact that he did not serve the USA armed services, so far as we know.
Also, the $340,000 from Fannie Mae? For not attending meetings, like some Chicago ghost payroller?
Abusive and intemperate language and conduct--well, a lot of politicians are guilty of that. It's the other things that sort of bring him into the Rod B ballpark.
