Newt Gingrich, former House speaker, thinks he knows why Michael Steele, chairman of the Republican National Committee, is having some trouble fitting in.
"Steele is a huge shock because he's different,'' Gingrich said on C-SPAN'S Washington Journal. "He's not just different because he's African American. He's a free spirit.''
A spirit who once dismissed radio's Rush Limbaugh as "an entertainer,'' only to apologize later to that voice whom the Democrats want to call the voice of the GOP. (Limbaugh is one of the "100 Most Influential people,'' remember.) Steele has called his dustup with Limbaugh a "distraction,'' like "popcorn'' for the cheap seats.
Steele "probably has not yet learned the art of massaging the egos of RNC members,'' said Gingrich, a Republican who thought of running for president but says he'd never even think of seeking the party's chairmanship.
"The Republican National Committee is this tiny group of people, some of whom have been there 20 years or more,'' Gingrich says. "And they all think they're precious. And they all think they should be taken care of. And they all think that the job of the chairman first of all is to make the RNC members happy....
"So I expect there is some real tension,'' the ex-speaker says of the chairman. "He has had a challenging few open months.''.

Comments
The Teabagger party needs to quit trotting out the same washed up gasbag hypocrites (Gingrich etc) as their spokes-people.
As for Steele, he's a multi-car pileup..with injuries.

When does Newt start apologizing to the RNC elite for saying they are full of themselves and have to think they are being taken care of? I'm sure they will be angry about these comments.

Gingrich is organized, a planner.
It is time for younger faces.
The republicans need to bond with libertarians.
Guarantee that those 52,000,000 that voted for republican in 2008 ain't going to change their votes in 2012.
And guarantee those that voted for Obama in 2008 will jump ship because of his all out spending, taxing and marxist leanings.
Just remember to vote in 2010 at the local level of government from school board seats to mayors....vote out democrats...taxers, more government in your life, less freedom.
Out with democrats.

Actually Sid, it's out with the Republicans. They lost big the last 2 elections (in case you didn't hear) and they will lose yet again in 2010. If you are so absolutely miserable, move overseas to a real socialist country.

Newt and his garbage mouth, please just go away as you are NOT important.
The Republicans are over and done with for at least 20 years.

Please do tell us how much more you pay in taxes now. Then please explain what freedoms you have lost. Then please explain how after 8 years of power, the republicans dramatically increased the size of government and why we should believe you that this time you won't.government

Mitt Romney and Gingrich in 2012!
Remember, the Tea Bag protests, feared by the liberals and Obama Administration, was an overwhelming success and was participated not just republicans but tax weary folks from all political parties, races, and all faiths. So you can spew your liberal left wing garbage all you want. Conservatives from all bases and parties will come together in a force that liberals want to ignore but cannot. Unless you seem to just schluff it off and then you will live to regret that action.
Steele will do well once he get's accustomed to his seat. He's smart, so is Newt. those who trash Newt have no idea the unlimited amount of smarts he possesses. Steele has garnerd input from Newt and a host of others so its nothing personal and Steele knows it to be. Liberals have spun it to assume there is an issue. Steele, thankfully, is no Howard Dean who ran the DNC in the ground with his lleft wing liberal ideals. Steele will prove as an effective leader for the GOP.

I dont know whats in your lunchbox Joe but 250,000 TeaBagging protesters across the country of over 300 million is hardly a success. More like a washout if you ask anyone with a brain. And as for your regard to Newt, tell me again about his family values and smarts??

Joe Lunchbox Lawyer,
