Just who is 'the party of no?' Both Democrats and Republicans have an idea.

The Swamp

The budget battle may be over, for now.

But a union-backed group that has been pummeling the so-called "party of no'' on the Republican Party's opposition to President Barack Obama's $3.55-trillion budget isn't finished. And the Republicans have their own rendition of who's the no-party (below.)

Americans United for Change plans to roll out a new cable TV ad tomorrow, which it will run on Washington-only stations through the rest of the week, playing off of congressional approval of budget resolutions that go a long way toward meeting a lot of Obama's demands - though not all the way with Obama.

It's called, of course, "Yes We Can.''

"Last week members of Congress from across America came together to make history,'' the ad's narrator says. "They voted overwhelmingly to turn the page on the failed economic policies of the past. They passed President Obama's budget that will begin building a stronger foundation for long term economic prosperity. But not a single Republican supported the president's budget.''

"The Democratic budgets moved forward in the House and Senate last week fully embrace the priorities called for in President Obama's blueprint for long-term economic growth,'' says Tom McMahan, acting executive director of Americans United for Change

"Sadly, despite the deep and protracted Bush recession that is each day leaving thousands of Americans without jobs, homes and healthcare - the 'party of 'no' once again stood shoulder to shoulder in their mission to see President Obama 'fail.' Every single Republican in Congress said 'no we won't' to investments in priorities that will actually grow the economy, like fixing our broken health care system, reducing our dependence on foreign oil, and investing in tomorrow's educated workforce.''

Antonia Ferrier, press secretary for House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio, offers this response:

"Maybe American's United for Change doesn't have access to the internet or television, but last week House Republicans introduced a budget that curbs spending, creates jobs, and controls debt. This latest misinformation campaign seems designed to change the subject away from the fact that Democrats joined Republicans in opposing the budget, the American people are increasingly skeptical of Democrats' economic policies, and Organizing for American grassroots push was an utter failure.''

Rep. Paul Ryan, the Wisconsin Republican who offered an alternative to the president's budget -- which the White House derided as an "April Fool's joke'' -- said in a video address over the weekend that Obama is only worsening the fiscal crisis which he "inherited.''

"The president's budget, which passed the House and Senate this week, will make the crisis much, much worse,'' Ryan said. "Rather than getting spending under control, it sends spending out of control.''

To those who can't believe Mark Silva would have the nerve pass along still more propaganda from the Left, I'd say:

"Yes He Can"

Man, the Republicans sure know how to punk themselves. First they take the bait and offer this non-budget, and they unveil the "details' of their non-budget budget on April Fools Day. Priceless.
It looks like they made their proposal with the help Color Forms:

I personally hope the Republicans keep this crap up for the next few years, because there is no better advertisement for not voting for Republicans than giving a Republican an open mike these days.

The ad's real name "Yes We Can SPEND".
.
Deficits will be much larger than President Bush's. The national debt will nearly triple in the nex ten years under this plan.
.
This just part of the Marxist union drive that will take this great country down the path of Western European Socialism.
.
All those voters that thought George Bush and the GOP Congress were a bunch of spend thrifts are going to think that they were Scrooge compared to BO and Speaker Pelousy.

Did Al-Qaeda write the GOP budget? Because it screams DEATH TO AMERICA!!!

It's full of their same OLD crap "ideas" and shows how desperate they are. They will oppose anything that helps other people. The party of NO has become the party of WITHOUT NEW IDEAS.

Teresa,
Life sucks for you Wingnuts when you get outside of your Rush and Faux News bubble world, doesn't it?

How ironic that the liberals always use "the children" as the back drop for their ads. Ever notice they use kids as a props. Years from now I'll be curious what "the children" will say about this President and Congress when they're saddled with this debt and the interest on it. I think the children will look at those people and say "thanks for nothing".

You know what the explosion of debt under Republican heroes Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush got us? NOTHING. Not a damned thing we can hold on to. They got us wars we can't win or get out of, a bankrupted country, a ravaged environment, an energy policy that will continue to ravage our economy and environment, and an extremely inefficient health care system that destroys families left and right.

And now we're going to do something about it. We're going to spend money on the right things, not just on tax cuts for the rich or wars that help looting companies like Halliburton. We're going to try and actually do what Republicans claim to want to do, and which they had eight long years to do if they damn well wanted - provide a better country for those generations who have still to come into it.

But Republicans are right about one thing. It's going to be costly. It's often very costly to fix gigantic mistakes like the ones the Republicans have made.. We can't just decide that we want to clean up this huge f-ing mess, snap our fingers, spend five or ten bucks, and call it a day. Unfortunately it's going to take a lot of money, or things will get even worse because of the course the Republican party put this country on.

What are you crying about? For the last eight years your Repug party used the biggest child of all as a prop for your ads - George Bush.

The Republicans need to keep saying, "NO!"

A union advertisement for Obama. Just wait till the 60 days at GM are up and what happens to the auto union. The contract will be broken and "re-negotiated. Which is probably what should have happen initially, instead of the bailout money going to GM.

Ditto, for the teachers union. Obama's got a plan for you, too.

All the dues you pay, go for endorsements of democrats and ads like these.

Too bad; the unions could have used the money it spent on the tv ads to help union members who are out of work, sick.

Guess it was more important to spend the money on an ad.

Just like the democrats wasted money and increased the carbon footprint when they had that billboard truck drive down from North Carolina to West Palm Beach for two days.

Talk about waste in a time of need.

Unions need to get their priorities straight.

GOP budget:

Tax Cuts + WAR= Profit

Yep, it was those damn blue collar union workers who caused our economy to tank. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with the uncalled for pre-emptive war on Iraq and the deregulation of wall street allowing them to run their business's like a casino with our money under the Bush Republican leadership the last eight years.....NOT.

Try again, Teresa.

It's amazing to see the shambles the Republican party has become.

Instead of a budget the Republicans have a crayon drawing of a bald eagle high-fiving jesus.

Oh W, you have to do better than that. Your party has always exploited children and the poor. You guys have been fighting the war on poverty for about 40 years. Of course that war on poverty will never be won because then you'll lose the biggest part of your voter base, you need to keep them dependant and victims.

A lot of slurs, but no concrete points in the comments here. Being the "Party Of No" means saying no to higher taxes, higher deficits, lower growth, fewer jobs, and greater dependence on the Federal government. For all you Keyensians out there, he hated communism and socialism and would side with Ryan on the budget debate. Simply quoting one idea (that government spending can stimulate the economy) doesn't capture what Keynes stood for.

Icecubeslim,
.
"You know what the explosion of debt under Republican heroes Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush got us? NOTHING." So why is BO doubling -down on that idea?
.
Blue Collar Worker,
.
It's not the union workers. It's the union leaders that are using the dues from the workers to run these silly ads.
.
As far as the "uncalled for pre-emptive war on Iraq". Why did President Clinton bomb Iraq in December,1998 for four days?
.
Who said the following quotes and the year they were stated:

"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
.
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction"
.
"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."
.
If you guessed Gore in 2002, Kennedy in 2002 and Kerry in 2003, you are correct.
.
"The deregulation of wall street" - if by that you mean the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, then you should know that the bill was signed 1999 by Clinton. You should also know that teh vote on the bill was 90-8 in the Senate and 362-57 in the House. The weakness of that act was what was put into the legislation in order to get democratic support (pass the filabuster of the Seante and get Clinton's signature). Democrats agreed to support the bill after Republicans agreed to make more money available for people that would have difficulty in paying back loans.
.
It was President Bush on 9-11-03 that called for more regulation over Freddie and Fannie.

Right, Repubs would never use kids to make a show for their causes.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/07/19/stemcells.veto/index.html

But look, I'm not saying it is right or wrong. Just be fair. Both sides exploit children. It looks "cute". Politicians of all kinds and all parties have been "kissing babies" and stuff since the beginning of time.

I think the children will look at those people and say "thanks for nothing".

Well, that is certainly what honest Americans are saying about Bush's war in Iraq.

I'd rather have debt from programs that actually help Americans to create their own American Dreams, rather than debt that caused the unecessary death of our brave soldiers in a trumped up war.

Trickled on Terri,

I see your inferiority complex is kicking in again, that's a sickness that seems to affect almost all of the hardcore wingnuts I know.

Until you Repuglicans step up and take responsibilty for your huge role in tanking our economy and starting an unnecessary war in Iraq you aren't going to start winning elections again.

You already lost the argument about who is responsible for the Iraq disaster (Republicans) and who tanked the economy (Republicans), that's what we have elections for, chuckle head.

PS - I love reading your posts though because you are among the most deluded of the deadender wingnuts and I've always enjoyed your fictional stories.

Frank You,
.
inferiority complex, hardcore wingnuts, Repuglicans, deadender wingnuts
.
Whenever all the name calling starts and no facts backing statements are said, you know the debate has been won.
.
Disater in Iraq - BO said today that Iraq was a success.
.
Show me the Republican policy that led to the recession or prove that I am wrong in my analysis of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.
.
I await you response Frank You
