To hear him tell it, former President George W. Bush is just like any other suburb-dwelling American now, walking his dog Barney and picking up after the mutt when it relieves itself on the neighbor's lawn.

"And there I was, former president of the United States of America, with a plastic bag on my hand," he told a group of high school scholarship winners in New Mexico on Thursday. "Life is returning back to normal."

Normalcy, it appears, is a blessing to Bush these days. As the Roswell Daily Record reported, the president told the crowd that "it's a liberating feeling" no longer having the "great sense of responsibility that I had when I was in the Oval Office."

But it's "not all that hard" for him to return to the mundane rituals of everyday life, he said. "You take one step, and then you take another."

Barney may have a tougher time adjusting to his new Dallas enclave. It's the first time the pooch ever has lived in an ordinary neighborhood.

Hopefully he won't bite his new neighbors - back in November 2008, poor Barney was so tired of reporters getting in his face that he bit one on the finger, resulting in a dose of antibiotics and tetanus shot for Reuters' Jon Decker.

Plus not having to be Dick Cheney's ventriloquism dummy anymore must be a tremendous relief. I bet ol' Mr Cheney has cold hands with that ice water running through his veins and all. Gotta be cool in a crisis....

Shrub Jr is dumber than a bag of rocks, but (unlike The Dick Cheney) at least he has had enough common sense to keep his mouth shut since he left office.

Cheney is just begging for a torture/war crimes investigation.

It IS a liberating feeling. I feel liberated. Hell, we all should be liberated. Obama Mustapha Mond is in charge or the world, now. Every damn day a new pronouncement, a big speech somewhere, telling Az graduates to forget about making money ~ just be a volunteer, telling Catholics why they need to support abortion, fergetaboutit Netanyahu ~ that's your little problem, expounding on the goodness of Terrorists everywhere, and why we need to start treating them better. What will he tell the Naval graduates? Here's the proper way to surrender your ship, when demanded? Hey, it's all good. Fry the corn, sit back, enjoy the movie. Liberating. Totally. This movie is just getting started.

We all feel liberated with him out of the White House too.

Who would actually want to listen to what this man has to say?? He has lied to and mislead the American people since the first day he took office.

Huh? Over Half The Nation Wants You (Bush) Arrested charged, tried, convicted, and imprisoned, for your War Crimes and, you say:

"Life is returning back to normal".

Different day, same Ol' Lying-Sociopath, however.

As I expected, the world's worst excuse for human beings, the Dingy, Deranged Loony Left, is full of their rabid blather here.
Loons, there will be no investigations into the "torture" because 1. Dems will be get in the whole thing; 2. Obama not interested. 3. The nation is not interested. 4. Most Americans supported the waterboarding of head-chopping terrorists so Dems will look weak and bad. 5. It'll never happen because nothing illegal was done.

George W. Bush is a decent and fine man, which is his true crime. You Loons on the Left hate decency.

Yes, not being Charlie McCarthy to Cheney's Edgar Bergen is liberating.

Now Dick has to do all the talking himself.

Which he has been doing.

Talk. Talk. Talk. Talk.

And wait for his hoped-for terrorist attack inside the US.

He has my support and Obama is following Bush's policies...just "dressing them up".

Obama is spending all his time picking up the turds Bush left all over America and the World. All the while the true believers of the pro-torture party are accusing him of littering.

The worst president ever.

Jeez, can't you folks just let the guy be human?

I'll bet that Obama, when he leaves the presidency, will feel liberated too; free to just be Barack again, walk the dog, enjoy his family, let somebody else shoulder the world's problems 24/7.

People who retire after long careers often say that when they sign the papers, a great weight lifts from their shoulders. That's what Bush is talking about.

Bush must hold the record for most days NOT spent at the office.

On "vacation". Sequestered from the press and the staff and anyone else who might wonder what the hell he was doing.

Getting sloshed on the veranda in Crawford.
