Maybe now we know why the White House forced the CEO of General Motors into early retirement: Chevrolet is recalling some of the new, 2010 Camaros.
Only the ones with V-8s.
Hello?
GM said today it is recalling about 300 new Camaros for a battery cable that might rub against the starter motor, wearing out insulation and possibly prevent the car from running, or starting. In extreme cases, the company says, it could cause a fire -- though none have been reported.
GM spokesman Dan Flores says the company has made about 1,400 of the V-8 equipped 2010 Camaros -- a reissue of the 60s and 70s sports cars, which had battery cables in the right place (see inserted photo) and 300 have been sold. The unsold models are being fixed.
"This is obviously a very important launch for us,'' Flores says -- with the company offering Camaro owners free oil changes and a tow in to the dealership for the fix, "and we want to do whatever it takes to keep the customers happy.''

My best friend in high school had a 68 Camaro with a 350 Holly 4barrel, headers etc.
It was one of the quickest cars I have ever ridden in and it looked great.

Mr. Silva,
.
Why do you have a picture of a Camaro circa 66-68 if the article is about the newest model? Inquiring minds want to know.

See the reference in the posting to the old Camaros, please, and note the video of the new Camaro.

John W, no one ever needs an excuse to post a picture of a classic Camaro. It justifies itself.

John W,
Is there nothing that you don't cry about?

JW,
You need to get your prescription checked.
I see the new one and the old model.
I prefer the older model, myself.
Here's the best mid/late 60's car. In fact, it still out performs most modern cars.

I'm starting to detect the whiff of desperation in John W's postings.

you wonder why gm is in so much trouble- this camaro recall presents a hazardous situation- it could cause a fire- there is no excuse for a problem like this-
gm cars are notorious for having multiple recalls-

I had a 69 camaro in college (yellow with two black racing stripes) and always regretted selling it. Great photo, brought back some nice memories! And, I echo the above posts, never does one need an excuse to post a photo of that car!

Yes the 68 camaro a great car. How do all you lefties that hate cars that get less than 20mpg, love this great machine?
Posted by: Terry | May 6, 2009 9:18 PM
TrickledOn Terry,
We love classic cars, but unlike you, we don't need a gas guzzling polluter to replace our lack of manhood size.
Posted by: you | May 6, 2009 10:06 PM
Gee Terry, I guess you didn't open the link in my posting above?
That was then, this is now.

Terry's comment proves that the con base doesn't have any comprehension of just how alike most Americans actually are.
Admiring classic cars does not mean we shouldn't be moving toward non-polluting, more efficient machines today.
Once again, Terry fails the 'Turing Test'.

The big question in all of this Auto Corps bailout garbage: Why are they closing auto factories in America and still taking American taxpayer's money, to keep their overseas factories afloat ?? That is unacceptable and should be addressed immediately !! Once again, these Corps think they are so clever, that they can fool the American taxpayer. Well, guess what, they better wake-up. It's a new day and their boardrooms are being shuttered. They have done enough damage to the American economy !! Too big to fail, I don't think so, not if it means, American workers will be pushed aside for cheap labor and more unemployment !! These CEOs and their lackeys, their management teams, should be locked up for malfeasance and fraud. They have done America great harm !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

I agree with Terry. You lefties can have your mini coopers. Give me that Z/28.

Trickled On You,
I know - you have your wrist.
CM - no I didn't open your link then, but I did now. Mustangs are nice, but I'll take the 67-68 Camaro.
Old Creaky,
I guess back in the late 60's and early 70's, you must of missed all the hype of Global Cooling caused by air pollution. Fact is, you would like to drive today's high performance, low gas milage cars but you have bought into the Global Warming hysteria

Herbie,
Check out the Camaro, Porsches, Beemers, etc. being destroyed by the Mustang Shelby GT350.

An he gets that wrong, thinking the new Camaro was not pictured.
He actually missed the video promoting the new Chevy!!
You need to start paying attention to reality.
