Peter Sagal, the funny host of NPR's Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me, notes in his radio show that will air this weekend that former Vice President Dick Cheney has appeared on more talk shows in the last few months than he did during the last two years of the Bush-Cheney administration.

Al Gore, the not-so-funny former vice president, says his successor, Cheney, should have given President Barack Obama more breathing room than he has given the new president - with Cheney repeatedly asserting in recent television interviews that Obama's approach to terrorism is putting the nation at risk.

Gore, Nobel Prize-winning champion of efforts to contain global warming and stem the climate change that is underway worldwide, was an outspoken critic of Bill Clinton's successor, President George W. Bush, who took years to acknowledge the impact of human enterprise on global warming and left without really addressing it.

"I waited for two years after I left office to make statements that were critical, and then of policy,'' Gore said today in an appearance on CNN.

In addition, Gore told CNN's John Roberts, Cheney is no one to talk about making the U.S. more vulnerable to attack: "You talk about somebody that shouldn't be talking about making the country less safe, invading a country that did not attack us and posed no serious threat to us at all."

Here;s Gore on global warming:

As a Dem I hope Cheney continues to shoot off his mouth.

Cheney is going down, that's why he's sweating on all those TV shows lately. Nancy Pelosi is just a shiney object Republicans are using to distract from the real torturers like Cheney and the rest of BushCo crime family, who know that a full on investigation will end badly for them, as in prison badly.

Its starting to happen. After all of those war protest marches, it's starting to happen. We all knew these guys were comitting war crimes. Cheney can go on all the TV shows he wants to claim he saved the country from another attack, but it won't matter.

Cheney is going down, it's starting to happen.

Go get 'em, Al! I'd vote for you again.

Did Gore drive his big gas guzzling SUV from his gigantic mansion to his private jet and fly in for this NPR gig?

Just wish the guy would fade away. He is so boring. He is so yesterday.

Dirty laundry needs to be cleaned, not aired out in public.

President Obama's administration started the stupid ball rolling by declassifying and publicizing memos concerning Bush administration 'enhanced' interrogation techniques. Then comments followed from Cheney, Pelosi, and Panetta.

Now Al the Bloat and Newt the Dinosaur are chiming in. Just go away Al, and just go away Newt. Niether of you have anything worthwhile to add to the discussion.

with Cheney repeatedly asserting in recent television interviews that Obama's approach to terrorism is putting the nation at risk.

These types of statements make me wonder why he really is staying near Washington DC and why he did not retire to his home state to fish and shoot things. Scares me that he is still around with his Haliburton pals.

KEEP TALKING, CHENEY!

Mark, while you're touting Al Gore's global warming credentials, how about doing a little research about the private jets he flies, about the carbon footprint of his large home (far more dangerous to the global environment than the Earth-friendly home of George Bush), and also do a little research about the relationship between solar flare activity and Earth's temps or the fact that the planet's temps have stabilized and even gone down the past few years, and that while the planet's temps have gone up about a degree since the mid 1800s, something called "The Little Ice Age" ended in the mid 1800s. Hmmmm, little ice age ends, planet warms. Hmmmm, relationship, perhaps???

ditto Lithium and bemused.

Earth friendly George Bush:

Just take a look at Iraq and see how earth friendly he was.

Al Gore should have been President. We suffered for eight years becuase they election in Florida was fraudulently certified for Geroge Bush.

Ornery, are you referring to the rebuilding and better life in Iraq today than 8 years ago? Are you referring to the fact that Hussein neglected the country's infrastructure while he was building his castles? The U.S. did not bomb the heck out of Iraq. I know you Mindless Loons on the Left like to think so, but that is not the case.
What is interesting is that you can't refute the environmental charliatan that Al Bore is and the fact that George Bush's house in Crawford is environmentally friendly while Al Snore's is not, nor are the homes of Leo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Babs Streisand, Sean Penn or all the other Hollywood environmental quacks.

In other words, Gore didn't wait "two years." He waited less than one year, and within little more than a year he was a fire-breathing, raving critic. ~ John McCormack
---------------------------------------------

Don’t know who John McCormack is, probably just another Wingnut. But, as he himself says, u, anyone can use Al Gore’s own creation – The Internet, to disprove this little assertion. Mr. McCormack backs this up with sources from those reliably Right Wing newspapers – The Boston Globe, The NY Times, The LA Times, and USA Today. The attack on 9/11 that Bush and Cheney orchestrated, forced Mr. Gore to stand down until the early part of 2002. America wasn’t yet ready to listen to a raving, arm-swinging , resuscitated, fire-breathing Al Gore.

President Obama and his team have stroked this fire. They have been on the attack from Day 2. Release certain documents. Withhold others. Darth Vader is doing what Republicans don’t normally do – Stand Up and Return Fire. You are talking about charging people, disbarring people, putting people on trial, throwing people in jail. People being Republicans, of course. democrats would never “torture” a terrorist, but you sure don’t hesitate to destroy the life of a Republican, by any means available. Bush has not said anything. I would have “hoped” that Cheney could have been casting, drying, and frying the fish of the Equal Rights State at this hour, working on the memoirs, enjoying a life of retirement, let the new guy have his moment. It may be Very Un-Republican like, but Hell Yes, at some point, someone has to fight back. Play this damn thing through

Of course Al Gore is lying when he said he waited 2 years to criticize.

Real Clear Politics (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2009/05/15/flashback_gore_calls_bush_policies_un-american_in_2002_speech.html) has the video of Gore, in September 2002, not only criticizing Bush, but calling the Bush administration "un-American."

Take a look, and decide for yourself.

If Clinton had done the right thing, like Spitzer did, and resign in 1998, Gore would have been President for 10 years. No Iraq War, no torture, balanced budget, many of the things on Obama's To Do list would already be done.

If you read the speechs Gore did give, they were all incisive and well thought out.

He is about the classiest politician of his generation. He has never engaged in name calling, personal attacks, swift boating, certainly never Rovian phone bank push polling and like tactics---a total class act.

He deserves the financial success he achieved after leaving office, as well as that Academy Award and that Nobel Prize.

If Gore had been president for 10 years, we would have had more Islamic terrorist bombings in this country since the Clinton-Gore administration had no stomach to fight terrorism.

The recession of 2001 would have lasted longer since Algore would have been hiking taxes and creating more regulation to fight his global warmin nonsense.

Budget wouldn't have been balanced due to a slowing economy and expanded gov't.

Class Act??? I guess you don't remember Algore screaming at the top of his lungs the "Bush preyed on our fears speech"?

The only good thing that may have come from a Algore presidency would have been the GOP Congress acting like conservatives instead of trying to democrat lite
