Jesse Ventura: Waterboarding is torture

Pelosi is nothing more than a Republican party distraction. The right-wing lunatic fringe is sweating and they should be, especially Darth, because they know a torture/war crimes investigation would incriminate about 75% of their lockstep party.

Every "what did Pelosi really know", every "there are documents that may show torture worked", every other "argument" about the never to ever happen "ticking time bomb" or "do whatever we have to in order to keep America safe" – takes away from the one main core point that the discussion starts and ends with.

The Bush administration authorized torture in order to extract false confessions linking Iraq to al Qaeda and create a pretext to invade a sovereign nation that neither had anything to do with the 9/11 attacks, nor was an "imminent threat".

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Pelosi is the latest shiny object distraction – how she is "under fire" and is disagreeing with the CIA about what she may or may not have been briefed about it blah blah blah.

However, nothing – absolutely NOTHING – should divert the direction and main point of the conversation. Torture is not a partisan issue. Torture is not something that can be debated. Torture is illegal. And torturing people in order to get a false confession and invade another country (especially when very many other excuses were given for such invasion) is more than illegal.

And this was all done by the Bush administration with the knowledge and approval by Condoleeza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney and (according to Cheney), Bush himself.

The terrorist had had the crap tortured out of him. He says" OK, OK, I'll tell you where the bomb is going to go off in 1 hour. The bomb is at Disneyland, specifically in the FANTASYLAND section of the park. So, everyone goes to Disneyland, searches the whole park( want no excuses for Not covering the Whole park, with most in FANTASYLAND, because that was the location specified. In the meantime, the bomb goes off in WASHINGTON, DC, 55 minutes later. The terrorist gave the answer that we wanted to hear( yes, oh yes, there is a "ticking bomb), but it does not guarantee he will give the RIGHT location.

The Corporate Media and the GOP are acting like waterboarding/torture is a new debate because Pelosi may or may not have known about it. Everyone else has been talking about waterboarding for YEARS now. There was no "national security" in the Bush Administration. The Bush White House had more leaks than a collander.

The rights Pelosi "argument" resonates with the little Wingnut deadenders, because it reinforces their own deeply-held belief that women can't/shouldn't hold positions of power.

For just about everyone else? As usual, not so much of a smoking gun as the Wingers make it out to be.

The gist of the Republican torture narrative, which is the same gist as it always has been and always will be: Torture cannot be wrong, cannot be legally or morally reprehensible, and certainly cannot be a war crime, because a Democrat (Pelosi) "may" have known about it too.

Let's have a full torture/war crimes investigation...

As much as you hate it, torture and war cimes are not a partisan issue (like the Bill Clinton/Monica saga was).

This is another case of the Republicans hitting themselves on the head with their own big stick.

I can only imagine how many Republicans would get caught up in an all out torture investigation. Don't forget that from 2000 on, these Republicans are the lockstep "elections have consequences" guys that we're talking about here.
