President Barack Obama will not be nominating "a bomb-thrower'' for the Supreme Court, according to the ranking Republican member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, who has spoken with the president about the decision he faces.

"The president indicated that to me, in our conversation, a very brief conversation,'' Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), said today, in an appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe. "He did make a comment like that, yes.''

The White House has, however, spoken of nominating someone who has a diversity of experience. Would Sessions be open to the first openly gay candidate?
"I don't think a person who acknowledges that they have gay tendencies is disqualified per se for the job.... We'll just have to see,'' Sessions said, adding, " I don't think we should be thinking like that for the United States Supreme Court. We need to be looking for a person that can gain full respect from the American people...(who) when they put on that robe will be nonpartisan, nonbiased... not promoting any agenda.''

Asked who on the court might be perceived as having an agenda, Sessions named Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, an appointee of former President Bill Clinton, as one of the justices taking liberties with the Constitution.

"There's open recognition,'' Sessions said, "that a number of judges on the court believe they have an ability to interpret this document, believe it's a living document, and they have a right to expand it. ''

He's not sure if an open homosexual is disqualified? There's a chance the mere fact of being an open homosexual makes you unfit for the office in Sessions opinion? I'm quite sure Sessions open bigotry toward homosexual citizens of the United States makes him unfit to be a Senator.

Leave it to the Republicans to appoint a guy who is sympathetic to the KKK (Jeff Sessions) to lead their opposition against any judge that President Obama might appoint - a judge that hasn't even been chosen yet.

Don't try to sneak any bomb-throwers past the ranking bigot on the judiciary committee. We weren't expecting Bill Ayers to be the nominee anyway. But since Souter is a bachelor, perhaps a bachelorette would be a good replacement.

I'm uneasy with Republicans who are forced to stuff their sexuality so far in the closet that they have to resort to wide stancing it up in men's bathrooms.

I guess you have had enough of the " bomb-throwers ", that Bush anointed !! Is Senator Sessions the best the "Republicans" can do, in terms of judiciary leadership ??!! They are more bankrupt, than I had thought !! I am sure President Obama's choice will be reasonable and democratic !!!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

Little man Sessions is a racist and a bigot. He tells us Ruth Bader Ginsberg has an agenda. Hmm, I wonder if that's because she was a Clinton appointee and Sessions had such a fixation for Clinton. If this character wants to talk about Supreme Court judges with an agenda, how about Thomas and Scalia.
Little man is sadly mistaken if he believes Obama is going to appoint a conservative or someone who is anti abortion.

Probable be some one with University of Chicago connections.

some of you make my day.

You trash R's about racism yet the Democrat Party (I believe) has the only KKK member in it. You know, those people who hate blacks yet somehow you dismiss it. You are true to your vote, KKK sympathizers. I think Sen. Byrd should be nominated. Don't you?

PS: it's also nice to read that at least one of you has admitted that Bill Ayers was a bomb thrower.

I know I am but what are you!

Geeze, what a bunch of fake toughguy cry-babies the Repugs have become.

You're nuts, PG; Byrd quit the Klan decades ago; but of course you always have to bring him up... pretty lame.

I'm nut's LOL, And you know Byrd has no ties with the KKK, or doesn't know anyone who is still in the KKK, and you take him at his word, right, this KKK member.

Problem is people know about the KKK, they know about Byrd, and yet they still vote him into office. I'm not a KKK sympathizer.

You call me lame, why, because HE is still in the Senate, and you people (Democrats) don't "protest" him. Take a good look in a mirror. Maybe without the hood.

PG is right. Because Senator Byrd was in the KKK briefly in the 1940s any racism or bigotry of any kind by any other governmental official cannot be criticized. Becuase of Byrds actions, Sessions is immune to any criticism, no matter what he does or says. as is every single Republican.

PS: "Leave it to the Republicans to appoint a guy who is sympathetic to the KKK (Jeff Sessions) to lead their opposition against any judge that President Obama might appoint - a judge that hasn't even been chosen yet."

Now read above and you might understand why I mention Byrd. The person above calls Sessions sympathetic to the KKK, yet there is a real Klan member in the Senate, Byrd.

PG,
The last time I checked, Robert Byrd wasn't the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee

PPS: I guess my other post isn't going to be posted, so, why do I mention Byrd, because he is the only active member in the US Senate that has had direct connection to the KKK.

PG, you're an idiot; but I'll now say that instead of being a bigot, Sessions is passionate about states rights. wink wink. Are you happy now? Byrd has nothing to do with this.

PG,
The last time I checked, Robert Byrd wasn't the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee

No, he's one of the head guys for the Democrat Party. And they ALL love to call him the "Dean of the Senate". There's no way to twist it.
You have people who have opinions of people being racist's, compared to having someone (Byrd) who is a racist, KKK.

You do understand that I wouldn't even mention Byrd and the Klan if people didn't make outrageous comments about other's, racists-bigots, while ignoring Byrd, the KKK, and the Democrats NOT protesting his elections. That's why I mention Byrd.

Stop making a fool of yourself, PG. You need to read up on some of your Republican good ol boys. Why do blacks vote 90% + Democrat all the time (not just when Obama is running)?

"I am uneasy" about living in a country with people who elect nutjob wingnuts like Sessions, Bachmann and Cantor.
Scary.

I'm uneasy with someone like segregationist Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III telling me what I should be uneasy about and having any influence whatsoever on who becomes a Supreme Court Justice.

I'm Uneasy With Republican Senators who still believe it's the third quarter of the 20th century.

Seriously? Jefferson Beauregard Sessions? Only someone still fighting the Civil War would name their son Jefferson Beauregard Sessions.

PG,
The "argument" you're making is one that a 5 year old would use when they get caught with their hands in a cookie jar before dinner.

"It's ok because Robert Byrd did it too, Mom!"

Oh, that's right, you're Republican in 2009.....nevermind.

Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III?

Inviting Obama to nominate someone with "tendencies"?

"Come into my parlor, said the spider to the fly".....

Everything you love about the Deep South is personified in
Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III.

His own committee voted him down when he was a candidate for a district court judgeship. Read the hearing.

And it wasn't because of his "tendencies" either.

Beauregard? Really?...that's his middle name?....Wow....

You know the continued shots at me doesn't change the fact that Byrd has been continually voted into office, even during and after the voters new about his affiliation to the Klan.

Just accept the fact.

PS: The five year old comment.

This is what I would have said to the five year old, see this Democrat Senator, he's connected to a bad group, and he is someone you should stay away from and when the time comes for you to make up your own mind and vote for him, you should remember he is a Klans man. A hater of blacks, he filibustered the Civil Rights Bill, he doesn't deserve your vote.

But thats just me, Oh, heres a quote from him, “ I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds. ”

— Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944,

We have accepted that fact PG. Can you accept the fact that Byrd has nothing to do with criticsm of Sessions? Can you accept that Sessions is responsible for his own actions?

And what does Byrd's affiliation 60 years ago have to do with Sessions?? Not a thing; just accept the fact, PG.

Thanks for making my point.

You have accepted the Democrat Klan member Byrd, but refuse to accept "IN YOuR OPINION" Sessions who isn't.

If your point is some trivial idiotic point not even relevant to the original post, PG, then go pat yourself on the back. Nobody ever said that Byrd never was in the Klan; he was....65 years ago and he left and has had a reputable career. Sessions is the ranking bigot on the Judiciary Committee as I originally said. Byrd is irrelevant. And only you seem to care about the Klan.

Pg, you gave castigated Byrd, yet Sessions is beyond criticism. Point taken.

You have successfully diverted attention from Sessions active, current bigttry. Mission accomplished. Hate filled people eveywhere thank you.

OK, this is the way I see things.
An article is written (bias or not).
Someone then gives an opinion (post) on the article or stray's from the article to push their points.
Then someone else responds to the article (hopefully a factual article) and the posts (opinion).

My view is if your going to attack "AN" individual/s or groups with cheap shots refusing to give out facts, then I see that as a way to converse. The article should talk to you, then you talk (post), then I talk (post). If something is glaringly wrong then I like to try to give my opinion (backed by facts) without calling others opinions names.

Now go to the first post, and start reading down. It might just be informative.

As for the Klan, yes I do care about them, I don't like them, thats why I haven't given them a pass. Past, present and future members.
