President Barack Obama has started his second 100 days "slightly more popular'' than he was during the span of his first 100 days, the Gallup Poll reports this morning.
The two-thirds of Americans who say they approve of the job that the president is performing - with 66 percent approval recorded in surveys May 7-9 - is a notch higher than the 63 percent approval that the president had, on average, in Gallup polling from January through April.
With the president's approval rating standing at 66 percent or better during each day of the Gallup Poll's daily tracking surveys since May 2, the 68 percent recorded on May 3 is exceeded only by the 69 percent approval that Obama found the day after his inauguration.
Obama joked at the annual White House Correspondents Association dinner in Washington over the weekend that his second 100 days will be so successful that "I'll be able to complete them in 72 days.''
There is no joke about the sustained level of support that Obama has found after three months in office during a turbulent time in the nation's economy, however.
And the president is moving apace with a wide-ranging agenda - talking about health care today with representatives of the industry at the White House, calling on Congress to control credit card lending practices before Memorial Day and preparing to tackle immigration - with the confidence of a politician with political capital to spend.
The view of the president's performance remains skewed by a divided partisan perspective: With 92 percent of Democrats voicing approval of the job that Obama is doing and just 30 percent of Republicans approving. However, independents weigh in at the average job approval of 66 percent registered in the overall survey.
"Obama continues to win high public approval for his performance in office despite a first 100 days packed with numerous major domestic and foreign policy decisions, some of which were politically risky,'' Gallup's Lydia Saad writes. "Not only is he maintaining his 'honeymoon' approval ratings, but he seems to be improving on them.''
The latest results come from a survey of 1,557 adults conducted May 7-9, with a possible margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.

As they hug each other with false humor in their fancy dudes, the American folks are beginning to wise up to the liberal MSM agenda and the lefty WH PR machine. The Bush blame game is tiresome but they find new ways to keep Obama covered. I look for an rude awakening from Americans as they begin to realize this hope and change mantra was nothing more than the illusion of political double speak and the inexperience and naivete' of this administration policies become evident. Soon or later even the ignorant become aware.

bubba......you look for a rude awakening? You were the one claiming it was already happening and your argument about Bush is a pure joke. Clinton was your scapegoat for everything. Remember 9/11 was Clintons fault? Have you changed your mind and realized it was Bushs?

Bash, no, not Bush, and re-hash, is the best the " Republicans " can do !! How unfortunate, they can't even bring forth a new idea, just blame President Obama and try to scare those who think he is doing a great job !! Tiresome !! On top of that, " Barney Fife " Cheney wants to anoint Limpbag, the better " Republican " over former Secretary Powell, war hero and Four Star General !! Those draft-dodging, draft-evading, or deferred citizens, what ever Cheney and Limpbag prefer to be called, were too busy to answer their nation's call to arms !! They just went on to degraded the name, Republican, and that will not go away, over night !! The stink of those two, and a few others, masquerading as " Republicans ", will not go away, any time soon, either !! So, hold your nose, any time you see or hear, either of them !! They have truly dishonored America !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

Bubbo, was the Clinton blame game also tiresome for you?? Talk about having a fixation for something. And as we all know, 9/11 happened on Bush's watch and it happened even after Bush and Cheney were given classified intelligence from England and Israel which forewarned of an impending attack. After it happened Cheney ran to an undisclosed secret location where he hid for months. History will show Bush to be the very worst President this country has ever had.
Socialism is the new buzzword. If you are so miserable and frustrated, maybe move overseas to a real socialist country.

The more Cheney talks, the higher the President's approval rating will go.

Yes, we are all wising up to the tricky MSM's liberal game. That would be why President Obama's approval ratings are increasing, not decreasing.

I think President Obama made a nuanced religious joke about the number 72 which has been associated with the number of virgins people may get as the smallest reward in Heaven, according to interpretations by Islamic critics.
If you think the concept of 72 virgins is not that well known or has not been in the news that much (especially after 9/11), then search "72 virgins" with quotes in:
-MSN and you will get over 30,000,000 results.
-Yahoo and you will get close to 900,000 results.
-Google and you will get close to 200,000 results
-AOL and you will get close to 30,000 results
-Ask and you will get close to 30,000 results
There has even been books, songs and movies written with 72 virgins in the actual title in recent years. The show Family Guy even had a skit on it.
For those who may not know, President Obama's religious reference in his joke was "and on the 73rd day I will rest" which refers to God resting on the 7th day of creation, according to the Book of Genesis.
Is he going to claim that he randomly picked 72, which was followed by a religious reference??
I made a youtube video about it,
search "Obama makes fun of muslims"
