It's getting to be that time again:

The 2010 elections are right around the corner, and they're going to get pretty interesting in some of the most heavily contested states and congressional districts next year.

In Ohio, Republican John Kasich, a former longtime congressman and also commentator for FOX News Channel, plans to file papers today for a bid for governor, according to a well-placed source.

Republicans wanted Kasich to run in 2006, he demurred, but has been planting the seeds for 2010 since them - in March 2008, he suggested that Ohio's income tax should be "phased out.'' He served last year as honorary chairman of "Recharge Ohio,'' a group committed to finding leaders who could "get our state back on track.''

Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland presides over a state that the Democrats were able to corral for the election of President Barack Obama last year, a state which nevertheless has undergone extreme pressure in the recession now underway even before it was a recognized recession. How Ohio plays in 2010 will speak volumes about what Ohioans make of the Democratic strategy for economic recovery.

Kasich already is on the circuit: He served as the keynote speaker at the Richland County Republican Lincoln Day over the weekend and at a Columbiana County GOP dinner this week.

"We've been drifting and we've got to stop it," Kasich said at his most recent dinner. "Ted Strickland is a nice man, but he's a caretaker governor when we need a man of action."

Kasich described the state of Ohio that he first came to know in the 1970s and said the state has come to have higher taxes and unemployment with fewer people to support it all.

"The most important thing is to point out we need a major change in Ohio's economics," he said. "We need to restructure Ohio's government to help bring down the economic barriers so we can have good, high-paying jobs in Ohio."

Kasich, a native Pennsylvanian, is a graduate of Ohio State University, was elected to the state Senate at the age of 26 and then Congress at the age of 30, in 1982. He represented the 12th district for 18 years before going into business - he served as managing director at Lehman Brothers in its investing banking division.

He also served as chairman of the House Budget Committee when Republicans ruled the House.

He has hosted The Heartland with John Kasich on FOX News Channel and was known to sit in as a substitute for Bill O'Reilly on The O'Reilly Factor.

John Kasich is a good man, and would be a great governor. I urge everyone in Ohio to support him.

"was elected to the state Senate at the age of 26 and then Congress at the age of 20, in 1982. He represented the 12th district for 18 years before going into business - he served as managing director at Lehman Brothers in its investing banking division."

That doesn't make sense. Unless he was elected to the State Senate at 26 years old, then went back in time and got elected to Congress at 20 years old then served for 18 years. I assume the author meant to say he was elected to the Congress at 30 years old.

Maybe the author is right, if so Kasich should market his time machine and make billions that way rather than run for govenor in a state on the decline.

Welcome, Mr. Kasich! We are looking forward to hearing what you have to say. If you are a conservative Republican then you have my vote. We don't need middle of the road right now.

Has my VOTE! I live in Ohio and we could use good leadership.

Mark, that's it, "He also served as chairman of the House Budget Committee when Republicans ruled the House." Out of your article.

There are so many people here who like to cherry pick, Politics, and the wonderful, "Clinton years". But please give respect where it's due.

Kasich, was the architect for the Republican Congress, after it gained control after the first 2 years of another Democrat Admin', and Democrat Congress.

Kasich, was/is worth more to the Country than 15 words out of your article. That didn't say anything about him.

I used to watch his "Heartland" TV show and always liked him quite a bit. He has good credibility when it comes to fiscal responsibility having helped to engineer the balanced budget as a member of the House back in the mid 1990s. Seems to have a good common sense approach to problem solving and good basic American values. Always wished he would throw his hat in the ring for president. I think he would do a good job. Maybe someday?

Fabulous!!!! A great idea!!!

Yeeeehaaaa!!! FINALLY! I have been waiting for Kasich to come out of retirement for a long time. Remember the days of balanced budgets? That was largely Kasich's doing, thank you. I will be volunteering for his campaign. This is a great day for Ohio! Bye, bye, Ted!

Mr Kasich is a wonderful asset for Ohio. I requested a compassionate reassignment through him when I was in the Army. His office saw it through. He cares for Ohioans and is intelligent enough to see that as Ohio Goes, so goes America.

So Kasich's officially heterosexual now?

Great, can't wait. Ted Strickland has been a total Clusterduck. If only we could find a way to get rid of ACORN appointed Jennifer Brunner as Secretary of State. This woman made Ohio the laughing stock of the nation during the last election. That is with the exception of Minnesota.

Mr. Kasich admires how the state of Ohio was in the 70's and says"the state has come to have higher taxes and unemployment...etc" Funny thing to say since the Republcans were in control of Ohio for 20 of the last 22 years

Please run Kasich! Strickland is quickly ruining the great state of Ohio!

Mr. Kasich was named the 'least effective member' when he served in the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus. His district is now held by a liberal feminist. Thanks to the McCoy push, Kasich moved along to Congress. Not sure what to think of his chances.

As a former Buckeye I highly approve of John Kasich. He will lead Ohio out of the wildnerness in spite of Obama. I only hope that he throws hit hat into the ring for POTUS in 2012

John Kasich would make a great governor -- of any state. He is a fiscal conservative and he is a decent, honorable man. He treats all people with respect, gets along with all ideologies and party members, and puts the well-being of the people first. Good luck, Mr. Kasich!

Wish he'd run for President.

THIS is a GOOD MAN!

Go get'um John!.

Ted Strickland is the most REPUBLICAN governor we've had in decades. Kasich doesn't have a chance against Strickland.

Just a little FYI, for all you "Recharge Ohio Fans," and those looking for a candidate to support for the Governorship of Ohio, DO NOT PLACE A MANAGING DIRECTOR OF LEHMAN BROTHERS into such a fiscally demanding responsibility, all of Lehman Brothers have shown what they will do for real, bankrupt you.

CONGRATULATIONS JOHN. NOW I SEE HOPE. YOU CERTAINLY HAVE OUR FAMILY'S VOTES AND MANY MORE.

I really like and admire John Kasich. Loved his program on Fox Network, the heartland and really missed it when they took him and John Gibson off for whatever reason. I will be rooting for him even though I live in Oklahoma, I think him a very decent family man, something we seem to be short of now. Good luck John!

CONGRATULATIONS JOHN. WE NOW HAVE HOPE OHIO CAN BE SAVED FROM THE STRICKLAND MESS. YOU SURELY HAVE THE VOTES OF OUR FAMILY AND MANY MORE.

He is a mighty fine man! I would like to be one of the first to vote for him!!!!!

May god have mercy on us all.

Funny how the only photo you could find of Kasich is with Bush. Couldn't you find a photo of Kasich with Osama Bin Laden?

I suddenly see a ray of light on an otherwise dark horizion for Ohio and for the Nation.

I have always admired Mr. Kasich and applaud his pursuit of the office of Ohio governor. He's bright and , articulate and has integrity to the nth degree.

You go, John Kasich!

Say hey!! And they sure "stuck it to us" in the following years. We sure got sucked in. whiteagle38

I'm an lifelong Democrat who has always listened closely to what Kasich has to say, and admire the man.

But, could you have found a more goofy picture than the one headlining the article?? He looks like a 12 year old kid in that pic...

He is an impressive option for Ohio. Vote smart Ohio.

If I'm not mistaken, he's not a real strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment. Kinda reminds me of Bush Lite. Can't be worse than Taft!

Go John! He is a good man. Good for Ohio, you are fortunate to have him as a candidate and hopefully as your governor.

Yes - good for Ohio. Another brilliant politician who can compete intellectually with the likes Jean Schmidt.

I think if elected, Kasich will speed up Ohio's declining population and ensure it's "rust-belt" status for years to come.

Yes - good for Ohio. Another brilliant politician who can compete intellectually with the likes of Jean Schmidt.

I think if elected, Kasich will speed up Ohio's declining population and ensure it's "rust-belt" status for years to come. Kasich is somewhat of a bad present from the folks that gave GW Bush the presidency - the 5K dead troops in Iraq give thanks to you.

Some new life for Republicans?

One of the best men in politics. Honest, smart, hard working I don't live in Ohio but I hope to be able to vote for him for president some day.

Hurray - both my husband and I have been hoping that John would get back into the political arena. Choose wisely Ohio.

I live in Florida and voted for him during the republican primaries against Bush. He is a true fiscal conservative and would make a great governor of Ohio. I wish we had him here in Florida. Hopefully you tea party attendees (republican and democrat) will see to it that he becomes Governor Kasich.

I think he went to Ohio U not Ohio State.

How I wish I could vote for this man! Ohio is one lucky state if they elect this conscientious man as governor.

Great news!

May have some trouble getting elected. He ain't a graduate of an elite east coast ivy league schools. No Columbia, no HARVARD, no Georgetown, no YALE.

Seems all those "intellects" are running this country into the ground.

Welcome back, John.

Don't worry about what religion or church that you attend (think Obama),
if you failed to pay your taxes (think treasury secretary and others!)
or your sexual proclivities-(Clinton, Frank, etc -remember barney had a prostitution ring working out of his basement)

or don't worry about any dead fish you may have sent to someone.

Whoo Whee!

Bring back Ohio....tell Ohio about Tax (cap) and Spend (trade)....if you think your taxes are high now...they will increase $3100 for each person...and you can recoup that money by buying windows and saving on energy.
Meaning MORE expenditure on your part.

Obama is changing Social Security and Medicare...nationalizing and letting government tell your dr how to treat you.

Hello, John!

It's real simple folks- The GOP needs Ohio if it has any chance of remaining a major political party this century.

It has long been past the time to kill off the last vestiges of the Republican Party. For that matter, the same goes for the Democrats. There is no real difference between them. All cheer leading in this blog to the contrary.

It comes down to values. He spoke at a Republican Lincoln Day- do I repeat myself? Lincoln murdered freedom and secession- tore apart state power over the federal government. Meanwhile every other country in the world peacefully abolished slavery- but Lincoln did it in blood. Kasich is a Lincoln-man, a Hamiltonian- Read Hamilton's Curse by Dilorenzo. Read Meltdown by Tom Woods. Kasich will rubber-stamp every GOP effort.

Now stop and think:
You all who have been voting republican the past 30 years...
Has the government gotten smaller or bigger?
Has the military invaded fewer or more nations?
Has the national debt gotten smaller or larger?
Have fewer or more abortions taken place every year?
Have homosexuals gotten less or more power in government? Schools?

On every issue- no matter how you slice it- and when they have had not one branch: George Bush
not two branches: The Congress for most of his term
but all three branches: 7 of 9 republican supreme court appointees.

In short they had all the power to give the conservatives what they wanted- and refused. They pay lipservice while stealing ever more from your back pocket. They lower taxes but raise inflation, They give out rebate checks but bailout large corporations.
They claim to be pro-life- but Planned Parenthood gets not less but more money every year...
and if your 18 and fit, you are expected to DIE FOR YOUR COUNTRY.

Isn't that a little like Obama asking the GM CEO to resign- he fired him without firing him. Bush kills children without killing them himself- he lets Iraq and the rest do it for him.

Wake Up.

No Kasich, Hell No. Not for this country, Not for Ohio.

Find a Ron Paul voter- any of them are preferable to Kasich - or any other GOP/DNC endorsed candidate.

I was born and raised in Ohio.

I am so happy to hear this! I lived in John's district when he was in Congress and told him once that I would volunteer on his Presidential campaign someday. You couldn't ask for a better person to run the state. Almost makes me want to move back to Ohio!

Hopefully his desire to be governor is just a stepping stone on his way to the Presidency. John Kasich has the right stuff for 2012.

another blowdried republipig with NO ideas. Just cut taxes for the rich and screw everyone else

John Kasich was my congressman. He'll have my vote for governor. And I voted for Ted Strickland before.

I sure hope he fails - this country can't become socialist soon enough (sarcasm)

At Last, real good news. John K. has always been a class act and would be a hellava Gov. for Ohio. Is it OK if this humble Texas works and supports John Kasich? Hell my ancestors populated Mahoning County in the 1800's. The Ellsworth Cemetary tells the tale. Go John.....Bob Rose in Texas

John Kasich will do Ohio good. He balanced the federal budget in the 90's almost single handedly but never got credit for it. The lefties made sure of that.

John is exactly what Ohio needs. He is very bright, down-to-earth, and a principled fiscal conservative. He would be an outstanding governor!

George Bush is no longer the President, get over it press and try to pick a flattering photo next time....please.

I lived in Ohio years ago, just wish I lived there now to vote for John Kasich. It's great to see one state has some common sense!

Yay, another Republican hypocrite, who can tell us how bad The Gays are in his day job while he, Larry Craig, Mark "Mary" Foley and Charlie Crist play strip poker.

He's been on Faux News as a host. THAT alone should disqualify him from serving in public office.

A great choice for Ohio.

"another blowdried republipig with NO ideas. Just cut taxes for the rich and screw everyone else"

First of all, someone who can't even write somewhat coherently shouldn't be lecturing others on having ideas. Second of all, how do you figure that everyone else gets screwed? Cutting taxes for the "rich" allows businesses to expand their reach, hire more employees, and even increase salaries. Economic concepts are more than just inch deep. One last thing: President Obama has increased taxes on cigarettes that has unfairly affected the middle class, as pointed out by the Associated Press. And now we learn that Americans will have to return part of that extra whopping $13 a week they were getting. And his policies of taxing businesses will end up reducing the ability of companies to hire or even keep employees. How is that much better?

"and if your 18 and fit, you are expected to DIE FOR YOUR COUNTRY."

You really should get out of your mom's basement every once in a while. We have an all-volunteer military, meaning that no one is FORCED to sign up or risk their lives fighting.

As for Ron Paul, the man talks about how bad pork is and then takes it for his district. He has the federal government funding shrimp research, the establishment of educational programs, etc. He's just as much of a fraud as the rest.

GREAT NEWS, As a conservative Texan, I have always liked Kasich .I wish him the best.Make it happen Ohio.

this is the best political news i,ve herd this year i'll not only support him i'll work for his campaign lets get started today

I live in Ohio and he has my families votes. He's a good man.

I have seen him around. Anyone that wants to phase out our income tax is alright in my book. That is doing nothing but driving business out of this great state. I hope he will push for the FairTax. HR 25 S 269

Having Kasich as an intelligent, level-headed governor would be a nice change to the idiosy and corruption of the Strickland regime. We need someone who won't bankrupt Ohio as quickly as they Feds want to bankrupt the country.

go John go

Good to see John Kasich back in the mix. He was my Congressman years ago, and I'm glad to see he's not decided to stay in retirement from public life. Good man. Smart and common-sense approach.

Here we go again Ohio. A republican who voted for the Clinton gun ban/crime bill when he was in Congress. Now he can stab us in the back at the state level! The lefties must thank Mother Earf we don't run out of Bob Taft repubs in Ohio. Stand up John, let's watch you appease the libs some more!

Republicans are so depressed that they'd welcome a pig with flu if it give them a sign of life.

How can anyone think this switch hitter can be elected Governor after being a senior manager on Wall Street is beyond me... But hey ..its your party...Suicide is always an option.

Side Note: Time will tell, but it seems to me that between community organizers and absentee ballots, elections are sewn-up. Once voting machines are electronic nationwide - we will never be the same. Someone has been working a plan for a long time - and, the time is now.

John Kasich is a very practical, no-nonsense conservative. The taxpayers of Ohio will not have their tax money peed down a drain. He could probably even fix the deficits that BO is creating.

I hope Kasich gives Stickland a great challenge. He's a great guy and will be great for Ohio. I moved to Ohio in 1998 and loved it for a few years. With the last RINO Gov, Strickland, and Coleman, Central Ohio has ceased to be what it once was. Due to all this "change" I couldn't take it anymore and moved out of the state. Ohio has a lot of potential, yet it will never see if with the current "leadership." Good Luck Kasich!! Now if you can just get Kucinich and Coleman out, you may have half a chance at a better Ohio!

Don't any good Republicans want to serve in Congress anymore? Kasich, Gingrich, JC Watts, Giuliani. The Dems will probably have 65 senators, 250 reps, and 6 libs on the supreme court after 2010. Everyone wants to be a governor because it's almost like being president which is what they really wish they could be. And they don't have to directly take on Obama who Bon Jovi said is the coolest president in the universe. Good for Ohio but Kasich could serve the good of the whole country as a senator.

DISCIPLE DAVE:

Troll elsewhere.

Reuters reports OBAMA got 3X money from Lehman than McCain.

"Both presidential candidates have gotten a lot of money from Lehman employees -- Democratic candidate Barack Obama to the tune of at least $370,000, and Republican John McCain, $117,000 -- according to the nonpartisan, nonprofit Center for Responsive Politics."

Lehman WAS NOT BAILED OUT BY OBAMA AND HIS BUDDIES. Market forces, NOT POLITICAL FORCES caused their demise.

TEA PARTY members are encouraged to drop news and cable until 2010 election. Take away MSM megaphone and prevent people like Disciple Dave smearing candidates by name calling and inuendo.

Kasich WON'T be a punching bag for the left like Bush allowed himself to become.

Judge and the Axe:

I'd rather have a USA pig than a Kenyan swine.

Kasich is awesome! I wish he lived in Alabama. I gained a great deal of respect for him when he served so well in Washington. He is a great asset to Ohio. Wish we had more like him & we could clean up DC and have more great governors.

Great news!!!!!

This is a true American that connects with people on so many levels. I have been hoping that he would throw his hat back into the political ring...4 yrs as Governor, then on to the WH!

wish i lived in ohio--i would vote for kasich in a heartbeat. unfortunately i live in la-la-liberal land minnesota.

I am an Ohio Democrat whosupports John Kasich.
John represents the New Republican Party-a party open o differing viewpoints. A party of less government and the elimination of the Nanny economy espoused by too many of my fellow demos. Strickland is a political hack who often gets lost trying to find the corner exit in a round room. Ohio has no leadership, no vision, only gnarled hacks grasping at past rust belt glory.
Obama can teleprompter babble about Change, Kasich will actually bring Change for a better Ohio and down the road, America-all 57 states..

I guess we will see how many in Ohio have the common sense to vote this man in.. Him in Ohio and JC Watts in Oklahoma,Then if Michigan and Illinois wise up and elect the right people maybe just maybe we can start digging our way out of the hole DC is putting us in...even if it is just one state at a time

Forget about the governorship, and run for the Presidency. We need a conservative leader in Washington.

Kasich was the one that designed the budgets that gave us surpluses. He did a great service for the nation for many years and will do great things for Ohio

Buckeyes forever

Lehman Brothers went down because of the immense failure of Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, not because of John Kasich. Republicans tried to call attention to the Fanny/Freddie disaster years ago, but luminaries such as Barney Frank put the kabosh on that... See where it got us, Frank? I will be voting for Kasich for governor.

Bring Ohio a balanced budget. Best of luck!

TAX'N Ted your days are numbered. Big John is going to put you in the unemployment line!!!

John Kasich is a good man. A real straight-arrow mid-westerner, but with a nice sense of humor. I currently live in New Jersey. Believe me, it's gone! But I would move to Ohio just to help John get elected.

"Mr. Kasich admires how the state of Ohio was in the 70's and says"the state has come to have higher taxes and unemployment...etc" Funny thing to say since the Republcans were in control of Ohio for 20 of the last 22 years"

22 years ago would be 1987, long after the 70's. Geez, you musta been government schooled, huh rgallagher?

The 70's would be a good place to get Ohio back to. Especially the early 70's. Plenty of jobs and no income tax. If I'm not mistaken, we have John Gilligan (aka HHS Sec Sebelius's FATHER) to thank for the income tax.

Kasich is a step in the right direction. I'll be wanting to hear more. I've been burned too often by RINOs here in Ohio....

I love John Kasich and have waited for this for a long time! I live in West Virginia right on the Ohio border, grew up in Dayton, and have lots of family still in Ohio. I will go to Ohio, stay as long as needed, and work hard to do whatever it takes to get him elected Governor. He's bright, articulate, experienced, conservative, a great speaker, super personality, handsome, youthful, and a financial genius. He's also happily married with an adorable family. If we elect him governor now, in a little more than 1,300 days we can put him in the White House and throw the Obamessiah out. Four years of having the inmates running the asylum should wake this country up, and Kasich is the perfect GOP candidate for 2012!

This is a good God fearing man!!. He is well respected and a true Consertive.
May God Bless you and yours.

I wish John Kasich would come to Michigan and be our Governor. We really need some good old common sense here. I would vote for John for President in a nano second.

Hey Guys, I'm flattered you used my reporting, but it'd have been nice to have a link.

Here's my original story:

http://salemnews.net/page/content.detail/id/513309.html

he will get my vote for sure. Ohio has become a state you want to move out of.

It looks like everyone loves this guy and even the Democrats. Something smells like a put up job. And as I recall, seeing I have lived in Ohio all my 65 years, haven't we had Republicans running the show here for a long time? And now all these bogus comments blame Strickland for Ohio's problems? Give me a break. Kasich is a good man and would be a great governor? So that's why I should vote for him? Look who he is with in the picture - Bush the good [born again] man. And boy did he suck all us Christians in with that line. Oh yes, it was Jesus Christ that influenced him most, he confessed on the first presidential debate. After watching him for 8 years I had to conclude that Jesus didn't make much of an impression on him, But Kasich is a good man and we should vote for him.
I'll bet he's even born again. Kasich is just another politician out to grab power and make his fortune. at our expense. Wake up and Stop being led down the primrose path by all these politicians. Vote Independent and get rid of all the Democrats and Republican politicians that use you and abuse you.

I lived in Ohio for 6 months in 2002, it was the longest decade of my life. I got tax bills from them for years after I left. I wont be back. It doesnt matter who they elect as governor - Obama will overrule anyone anyway. You let the dems in, now you're stuck with them. You think they believe in fair elections? Good luck John.

In 1994, Kasich, a GOP leader at the time, handed Clinton the assault weapons ban on a silver plater and took 42 Republican representatives with him. The bill won by 40 votes (and was opposed by 55 Democrats). John Kasich was responsible for the assault weapons ban, clear and simple. He also voted for Brady.

Kasich's willingness to cave to the Dems under the banner of "bipartisanship" when "bipartisanship" only means the Dems win, is what's wrong with the Republican party today. He'll never get my vote.

Lucky Ohio !!!

I now see hope for the Repubs !!!

Go John !!!

Wish I lived in Ohio !!

I've always liked Kasich, but I do agree with a previous post that Strickland has been pretty conservative. Strickland will still be a tough fight. I'm a huge right winger and I think Strickland has been pretty even handed, but remember we had the RINO Taft before and many goof-balls look great after him :)

Nice try by the left wing liberal anti-American media to depict Kasich with President Bush. They are already up to their extremely biased propaganda campaign. When we America kick these so-called "journalists" to the curb?

This man is very qualified. Ohio, (and especially Cleveland) are run like third world countries. Only a person like Kasich can start to turn it around. He would make an excellent President too.

I went to school at Denison in Ohio and know the state well. I wish I could vote once for John - he is smart, believes in something and is just what the state needs. Wow, this is a great day for Ohio, Republicans and voters who will get to meet, know and appreciate Kasich. When he was a House member, he gored GOP members who wanted to spend and he actually worked with the Clinton White House on issues that did benefit everyone - welfare reform and tax cuts. A Governor has to show vision and work with the other side. Kasich has done that. Horray for a good guy.

Wonderful news! He's got our votes! It's time. Conservative Ohioans stand a great chance to take back Ohio not only at the governors level but all levels.....Get Er Done, John!

DO NOT PLACE A MANAGING DIRECTOR OF LEHMAN BROTHERS into such a fiscally demanding responsibility, all of Lehman Brothers have shown what they will do for real, bankrupt you.

Posted by: Disciple Dave | May 1, 2009 3:23 PM

You have no clue as to what you are talking about. I have personally spoke with Mr. Kasich representative and Mr. Kasich worked in the division of Lehman brothers that was not suffering financial failure. You need to get your facts straight before putting out rubbish like this.

Wonderful news! He's got our votes! It's time. Conservative Ohioans stand a great chance to take back Ohio not only at the governors level but all levels.....Get Er Done, John!

Both Strickland and Kasich were in the US House of Representatives in 1994. Guess who voted for and who voted against the disastrous and poorly-conceived Assault Weapon ban? Strickland was one of the few Democrats who voted against it, and Kasich was one of the very few Republicans who voted for it. Strickland has been a stalwart supporter of our gun rights. I am an Ohio Republican and I always vote. That bone-headed and anti-gun vote by Kasich for the gun ban may influence how I vote in November, 2010.

Is it a coincidence that he is shown with Bush in an unflattering picture?

Probably not: all (well.... 99.5% for sure) journalists hate Bush and use the old trick of linking anyone they want to bring down with Bush.

Well, seen some good governors of Ohio and some Bad ones. I have voted Dem. and Rep.! But think Mr Kasich is a good man, who loves Ohio, I hope he loves Ohio more than power, like the rest of them. For, I for one would vote for him!!!!

Good! I will work hard now, to move back to Ohio!

I'm from MA (leaving for Florida very soon). I've always liked Kasich. He's one of the very few honest politicians left today. If most politicians were like him and Palin, America would be in much better shape today. That reason alone is why he should be given at least 4 years to attempt to turn things around in Ohio.

He's a good man, good character, fiscally conservative, social moderate. It'll be interesting to watch how the democrat attack machine goes after him...i guarantee you he needs to be ready. Kasich is a huge threat to the dems. If he becomes Ohio gov he assuredly becomes prez timber as well down the road.

Hey Ben,
How did Mr.Kasich cause the journalism typo? Why are you deflecting from the issue that dems are responsible for the economic destruction of coporate America, along with the sycophants that fanned out across the US,post Clinton?Progressive liberalism is a certifiable mental disorder! There, now I'm at your level, feel better?Mr.Kasich will wipe the floor with all of you.

Good luck John. I live in Ohio and we love him!

Go get them John, all it takes is your respect for your constituants, and they will respect and fight for good clean government with you as a great leader

John Kasich is without a doubt an honorable and decent person. I just love his honesty and faith. He represents a huge majority of the American People's Passions, Attitudes and Ideals. He is a man we can listen too and respect. I don't see this one as double minded and deceitful like so many traitors, he's a keeper.

GOOD LUCK JOHN I THINK YOULL BE A SHOE IN. I WISH YOU WERE RUNNING IN PENNSYLVANIA

Good Man! He has my vote

Cave in Kashich sold gun owners down the river in order to ingratiate himself to Clinton so clinton would sign his Kasich Penny bill. Strickland is a dem but he has never betrayed gun owners

I see the penny loafers, got together, en mass, and decided to propose, spontaneously, that Kasich is their man !! I wonder what the going rate for their posts were, a renegotiated mortage, or a few shares in
Haliburton or maybe even, a signed glossy of the Second-In-Incompetency, Cheney !! Give it up, he led the charge, on the run up to the Iraq slaughter and occupation and he budgeted the privatization of our government !! He'll have a ball, putting the screws to the workers of Ohio, just look at the negligence he provided in the last ten years, to Ohio's economy !! If you want Ohio to remain sick, economically, Kasich is your person !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

Fitz,

You must have a lot of time on your hand to dream up that conspiracy story. Then again, what else are you going to do while you are sleeping in your city dump truck underneath the viaduct?

This coming from a Blago backer.

I saw Mr Kasich on tv tonight.
I may not live in Ohio but am all for him. we need better government and he sounds like he is going to try to get it for all Ohioans.
We have had enough change.

Kasich is okay on fiscal policy. Frankly much of the tax situation Ohio faces now was caused by republicans. But what I want to know is whether Mr. Kasich has done an about-face on the Second Amendment. When he was in Congress he was complicit in the 1994 passage of the Brady Ban. Has he changed his mind on the private ownership of semi-automatic rifles? The sitting governor, Strickland, has been a staunch supporter of unfettered, private ownership of guns. I can't believe Ohio's gun rights groups will lend support to Kasich after he turned his back on the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Does John Kasich still send his daughters to that private school?

That is, where on October 17, 2007, the administrators at Worthington Christian Schools (WCS), Grace Brethren Church (GBC), and their Schottenstein, Zox, and Dunn (SZD) attorney Daniel R. Swetnam got caught after over 8 years of continuously and deliberately putting thousands of students at “risk” with several repeat child molesters led into temptation to molest again while deceiving and defrauding we parents about it while working to cover up those crimes (i.e. Conspiracy of Criminal Negligence, Deception, Fraud, and Cover-Ups).

Those administrators clearly understood that if the consumers (i.e. students, parents, volunteers, sponsoring businesses, etc.) learned that the students were being taught and coached by repeat child molesters, we parents would have immediately removed our children from the school and stopped paying money to WCS (approximately $60,000 per student for pre-school to grade 12) as well as GBC.

If it were not for the Columbus Dispatch having the decency to inform we parents the truth, we never would have learned about the dangerous hypocrisy that we were being deceived and defrauded about at WCS/GBC and those crimes would have continued. Some WCS teachers, staff, and even some parents took part in those crimes and the cover up and deception in regard to those crimes continues as all but one of the administrators remain in power at WCS and GBC.

If Mr. Kasich does send his daughters to WCS where those administrators remain in power, that clearly demonstrates that he is not willing to do the right thing for his very own family and he surely will not be concerned with doing the right thing for we Ohioans.
