Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, looking at the dwindling share of the public that the GOP is attracting in national politics, says it's time for his party to get its head "out of the sand'' and start looking forward.
Republicans are holding their state chairmen's meeting today at a harbor-front convention center on the Potomac River, and Steele spoke about the state of his party this morning on FOX and Friends.
"This is less of a focus on Democrats and more of a focus on the party,'' said Steele. "I think it's time for the party... it's time for us to get our heads out of the clouds and out of the sand and stop moping... and lay out an agenda that looks forward to the future.
"I want this party... to focus on what we hope will happen next for people, the opportunity and empowerment that comes from free enterprise. ... We have a common thread that binds us... It goes back to what Lincoln was all about, individual liberty.''

So Steele is implying that the anti-Obama fervor proudly displayed by conservatives and most Republicans was wrongheaded? That's the way to save your job!

Steele is like a big circus elephant paraded out on the stage for all to see. The exception being elephants have more common sense and are much wiser than this buffoon.

More likely, the GODP (Grand Olde Donner Party) has it's head in the snow.
