Some Democrats are accusing some Republicans of "eating their own'' in the attacks that conservatives are waging against the eight Republicans responsible for passing President Barack Obama's energy bill in a narrow House vote.
The cap-and-trade bill, which Republicans are calling "cap and tax,'' passed the House by a vote of 219-212, with the defection of 44 Democrats and the support of eight Republicans -- including Rep. Mark Kirk of Illinois.
"No question that there are going to be very dire consequences for those who voted for this bill," House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.), says in a comment noted in the New York Times.
"It's the Republicans that made the damn thing pass, for crying out loud,'' radio's Rush Limbaugh said Monday. " Eight Republicans -- only four were needed. Eight voted for it, cap and trade. "
Michelle Malkin has posted a wanted poster on her blog featuring "the eight cap-and-tax Republicans'' and their office phone numbers.
The Republicans who saved the energy bill: Reps. Mary Bono Mack of California, Michael Castle of Delaware, Norman Dicks of Washington, Mark Kirk of Illinois, Lenoard Lance of New Jersey, Frank LoBiondo of New Jersey, David Reichert of Washington and Chris Smith of New Jersey.
The bill, The American Clean Energy and Security Act, faces an even rougher road in the Senate, where it could take months to resolve a bill that President Barack Obama calls "an extraordinary first step'' toward energy independence and a cleaner environment.

Mark, does the Trib pay you extra for having to look at hate sites like Michelle Malkin's?
The few times I've checked it out, I've always felt like I should wash afterwards.

Republicans love those "Wanted" posters. Remember the one they made for bin Laden? How'd that work out?

I wonder what Mark Kirk is getting in return for selling his soul?

If it's his REPUBLICAN soul, it wasn't worth anything to begin with. Perhaps he gained by unloading it.

Maybe Mark Kirk has begun to realize just how small the GOP tent now is. He's been fortunate to eke out victories in the 10th the last two times, but in order to hang on again he has to break ranks with what's left of the GOP. If he will sign on to a healthcare bill with a single-pay option, he will have earned my vote back.

Quippy,
Do you think democratic voters are not going to vote for teh democratic canidate because of this vote?
Kirk loses a lot more votes than he gains in his Congressional district.
Kirk can kiss the Seante good-bye since he won't get out of the primary.
The only chance he has to redeem himself is if when the bill comes from the Hosue-Seante committee, he votes against it

I think they should just do a 'Specter' and join the Dems. The Republics don't want them.

CMorris, you might be correct. Rep. Kirk should become a Democrat or become conservative. He's pro-choice, pro-gun control, pro-gay marriage, pro-spending increases, pro-illegal alien, and anti-Iraq surge.

CAP and TRADE Will Create Companies TOO BIG TO FAIL
So what’s the real scoop? Ignore the proselytizers and find out from those who “shaped” the Bill ….

Anyone who is for this Cap & Tax is just plain ignorant. They truly do not understand what's in it, or more likely only knows what the main stream media has said. It's sad, but a great population of Americans don't keep up with politics. I actually feel sorry for people when I read comments like I have just read here.
