One of President Barack Obama's closest aides appeared on a video shown to the International Olympic Committee this morning to underscore the Obama administration's commitment to Chicago's bid for the 2016 games.
The video from senior adviser Valerie Jarrett was played as part of the Chicago bid committee's presentation to Olympic officials at a meeting in Switzerland today.
"The Obama administration is fully committed to the Olympic and Paralympic Games and has the highest regard for the Olympic Movement and its ability to effect change around the world," Jarrett said, according to a transcript released by the White House.
"The support we have committed to provide Chicago is unprecedented for a U.S. bid city," Jarrett added, "Our administration will work closely with Chicago 2016 and Mayor Daley to make youth sport a national priority."
She also noted that, just Tuesday, Obama had announced the creation of a permanent White House office for the Olympics and youth sports.

Millennium Park, $500 million.
Soldier Field, $700 million.
Now this boondoggle?
How many hundred million for Olympic Park?
Where is the money for the Milton Friedman Memorial Economic Institute going to come from?
When the bonds come due, no retired person in Chicago will be able to pay the real estate taxes. They will all have to sell their homes to pay real estate taxes and have to move to some "assisted" facility in beautiful suburban Dolton.
Something to look forward to in your retirement years.
Have a nice Olympics. If you are a life long Chicagoan, you might be able to get a ticket to the badminton semi-finals.
