Dick Cheney has criticized the Obama administration so intensely for its approach to terrorism, CIA Director Leon Panetta suggests, that it appears "he's wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point."
Panetta says so in an article coming in The New Yorker's June 22 edition. Cheney "smells some blood in the water" on the issue of national security, Panetta says.
The former vice president has said in several interviews that he thinks Obama is making the U.S. less safe. He has been critical of Obama for ordering the closure of the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, halting enhanced interrogations of suspected terrorists and reversing other Bush administration initiatives he says helped to prevent attacks on the U.S.
"It's almost, a little bit, gallows politics. When you read behind it, it's almost as if he's wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point,'' Panetta says of Cheney. I think that's dangerous politics."
Asked if he agreed with Panetta, Vice President Joe Biden said on NBC's "Meet the Press" that he wouldn't question the motive behind Cheney's criticism. "I think Dick Cheney's judgment about how to secure America is faulty," Biden said. "I think our judgment is correct."

Cheney is sweating and he should be. Cheney's scared to death that he and the rest of the Bush Crime Family are going to be prosecuted for the torture and war crimes that they comitted in our name.

How Dick Cheney deserves to be treated is even-handedly - By a Warden - In a prison in the Marianas - Doing hard labor.

It's not just Cheney. Many on the right-wing lunatic fringe want America to be attacked again because in their sick minds they think that's their fastest way back to power. Americans dying would be political gold for these sicko right-wing cretins.

Well the V.P. and Bush kept us safe after the chaos of 9/11 which was allowed to formulate under the Clinton/Panetta era tactics of treating terrorism as a civil matter. So now Panetta and Obama are once again coddling the terrorists, treating them like misguided American citizens (miranda rights on the battlefield, FBI securing the battlefield as it was a crime scene, Federal CSI dudes securing body parts and DOJ lawyers overseeing legal technicalities that may arise) so they can be brought to justice in American courts. Almost Hollywood, but just utter naive madness for a real war. After all the lefty rhetoric Obama and Panetta are still denying the American folks the real truth of what was learned by using EIT on the three terrorists. Why not come clean, Panetta, what are you hidding? Nancy and the Dems. wants the prison photos released and at what cost? Just a few more troops wounded or killed due to Islamic outrage, which the Prez has stated would happen. No big deal the House will have another silent prayer and claim their support for the troops. Or how about those liars in the CIA, where did that investigation go to? Ah yes, swept under the Democract rug. So excuse me if Panetta's comment is not only outrageous but simply an inaccurate and shoddy personal attack. Not only is it very disturbing but where is there any room for Panetta to speak about terror attacks? Hell, he was part of the group that allowed the terrorists to grow, plot unchecked and pull off 9/11. He could have advised Clinton to grab bin Laddle (the man made disaster dude) when the Somalis had him! So yea, I am a concerned about Panetta and Obama. If they continue to kept us safe, as Bush?Cheney did after 9/11 them he may be able to make some constructive comments. This was just a vile, untrue, lefty political attack on Cheney from a man that has no room to be critical and every reason to listen to someone who did the tough job when it was needed. Of course, the MSM (and you Mark) can get your licks in again, instead of addressing the Obama failures.

This is all part of the Republicans "FAIL" meme.
Rush wants the President to fail. Newt does too. Cheney thinks Rush is more Republican than Colin Powell blah blah snort snort snort.
The Dick Cheney is out there for only one reason, to try to create doubt and unease and undermine the new administration, no matter the cost. Oh, and to try to cover his butt from the robbing, thieving, and torturous ways he had no problems with doing the past 8 years and to try to call it all "keeping America safe".
GET LOST, DARTH!

Panetta's current offensive against Cheney was predictable.
About a month ago, Pelosi said the CIA lied to them about waterboarding.
Sticking up for his people, CIA chief Panetta said no we didn't.
That made Pelosi look stupid and pulled the Obama up short.
Now that the Pelosi you-lied, Panetta no-we-didn't story has lost traction Panetta goes on the offensive to make up lost ground.
Now take a close look at the nature of the offensive -- Panetta is speculating on Cheney's motives to deflect any criticism of Obama. It's the samo-samo, don't like the message, trash the messenger.
Cheney's concerns about national security are all the more relevant now that the Iranians held a farce election, the North Koreans keep playing with nukes, and the Obama is leaning on Israel in deference to the Arab/Persian world.

Cheney would support right-wing domestic terrorist Scott Roeder if the guy voted for him, which he probably did.
For Dick Cheney, the last eight years was all about political and financial power for himself and little else. He has NEVER given a damn about the American People and he still doesn't.

After reading the bias, fluff article by lefty Jane Mayer in the that liberal, lefty magazine she works for, I am convinced we must disband the corrupt, lying (quoting Nancy, next up to be fluffed by Ms. Mayer to set the record straight) CIA and waterboard everyone, sift through the BS that anyone would say during EIT, and send them all to Clinton/Panetta favorite rendition paradise, Egypt, where they may languish in hellholes created from their own demented minds. Then, as another government rescue of a failing company to important to fail, hire the true watchdogs of America, those so-called investigative journalists at the New Yorker and the New York Times. Finally, we would have true intelligence and no one could selectively second guess our intelligent community. Also we must amend of Constitution, doing away with this government immunity stuff, including any and all advice, statements,decisions,et.al.by members of Congress, the WH and Executive Branch, and all judges. Throw in no more secret stuff too! Just immunity for journalist's sources and ACORN's census counters. Lets clean this mess up, we need to be able to sue them all! Let Obama run the show. Siliva, using a Mayer article for a post on our beloved Swamp hurts its rep.

Smarmy chickenhawk Cheney is the most unpatriotic person in this country. He is a spineless coward who would love to see the U.S. attacked again (like it was on his watch). He has sacrificed absolutely nothing for this country. Now he is squealing like a stuffed pig.

Mustapha Mond and the other weak democrats picked this fight, probably not expecting that there would be any Republicans that would make an effort to fight back, but Darth is up to the task.
If Liberalism were ever able to follow through with their real beliefs, we would be either dead now or on our hands and knees, butt searching for air, giving praise to Allah. Liberals are not even particularly religious, but they would be fine with that. I "hope" that the Darth Vader Tour continues.

It's pretty obvious that Cheney's hoping for another attack on the U.S. He doesn't give a damn about who has to die, he just wants to feel "vindicated." Cheney is a sociopath and he was part of the most incompetent, disasterous administration this country has ever had, and the blood of citizens is a small price to pay for some "redemption" in his legacy... or, so he thinks.

To ad a point here, and make no mistake about this, anyone noticing how the Dems. are floating (and the WH is sort of denying) the idea of a tax on healthcare received from your employer? They need this money to pay for this plan to "save" us money. Is that an oxymoron? Of course, the unions will have to sign off on this, so it is a touchy tax to purpose for the WH. So look for the fairness issue: why is it fair for a employed person to receive a tax free healthcare benefit when individuals have to pay for the same benefit with their own after taxed dollars. Remember the mantra, no new taxes on those under 250K? About to be tossed under the bus again! Also note that the Prez mentioned malpractice costs to be addressed at a later date. Ya right, fat chance. Beware of this healthcare scam, need it now or we face a catastrophe in our healthcare. Sound familiar , sort of like the must pass stimulus plan?

Panetta's musings about Cheney's motivations are irrelevant. What is relevant is how best to prosecute the war on terror or whatever flluffy term Obama is using now. If Panetta wants to discuss that, I'm listening. If he just wants to speculate on Cheney's motives, I'm not. Cheney could just as easily say that Panetta wants America to be attacked, and it would be just as ill-informed and irrelevant.
And what is this talk of Miranda rights on the battlefield? Detainees in Afghanastan are held indefinitely, without charge, and without access to courts on orders from Obama, just like they were under Bush. What rights would they be read? You have the right to . . .remain . . .breathing?

You're either blind to reality or just plain stupid! It is a known fact that the Bush administration was warned prior to 911 that such an attack was likeley. They were warned by the German and French governments, they were warned by British intelligence and they were warned by their own administration officals!! Tell me Bubba, what did they do??? NOTHING!!!!! You wing nuts will blame your acne on Clinton!!
Bush was warned time and again by Clinton officals and he ignored them! Bush abd the Dick had preconceived ideas of national security priorities: Star Wars, Iraq, Russia. And they were not going to change those preconceived notions based on people from the Clinton administration telling them that was the wrong set of priorities. They also looked at the statistics and saw that during eight years of the Clinton administration, al-Qaida killed fewer than 50 Americans. And that's relatively few, compared to the 300 dead during the Reagan administration at the hands of terrorists in Beirut -- and by the way, there was no military retaliation for that from Reagan. It was relatively few compared to the 259 dead on Pan Am 103 in the first Bush administration, and there was no military retaliation for that. So looking at the low number of American fatalities at the hands of al-Qaida, they thought the pre 911 warnings wre no big threat!!
The Clinton administration stopped Iraqi terrorism against the United States, through military intervention. It stopped Iranian terrorism against the United States, through covert action. It stopped the al-Qaida attempt to have a dominant influence in Bosnia. It stopped the terrorist attacks at the millennium. It stopped many other terrorist attacks, including on the U.S. embassy in Albania. And it began a lethal covert action program against al-Qaida; it also launched military strikes against al-Qaida
Richard Clarke, the White House terrorism adviser said it perfectly .Now listern and listen good Bubba:
"There's a lot of blame to go around, and I probably deserve some blame, too. But on January 24th, 2001, I wrote a memo to Condoleezza Rice asking for, urgently -- underlined urgently -- a Cabinet-level meeting to deal with the impending al Qaeda attack. And that urgent memo-- wasn't acted on. "I blame the entire Bush leadership for continuing to work on Cold War issues rather then concentrating on the new war of terroism''
You and your 4 out of 10 buddies are MORONS and have ruined this country for your own greed, selfishness and distorted religious beliefs. God bless President Obama for the selfless hope and class he brings America and the rest of the world!

Scot S. Blakeley,
Don't bother with that bubba Porter moron. No one with half a brain believes the crap he spins on here. He gets his talking points from Druggy Rush and Faux News and then he runs on here and posts it, all the while thinking that everyone is as dumb as him and the other Cheney loving wingnut tripods are. Just ignore him like everyone else does.
I wouldn't be surprised in the least to find out that "bubba Porter" is actually a pseudonym for Liz Cheney.

1. Cheney's a sociopath. He's without conscience, so the deaths of hundreds or thousands make no difference to him i.e. he's you typical Republican.
2. Cheney's a narcissist. He believes in his own godlike intuition and wants others to believe in his own wisdom as much as he does.
3. Cheney is a sneering, vengeful swine. He wants to rub the noses of all who oppose him and who rejected Republicanism this past November in the horror of another 9.11-type attack (which happened on his watch).

John McCain proposed last year, and for which Obama criticized him. And look who else has proposed it:
Oh ya and by the way, your god Reagan floated the idea of requiring workers to pay taxes on employer contributions to their health insurance exceeding $2,100 a year in 1984 too!
Top Republican Chuck Grassley said when asked about taxing benefits and I quote '' The answer is we could''
You wing nuts will lie, distort and do anything to get your way, its pitifull!

Wow, I notice that many of these comments are ridiculously left-wing. Is this a California audience or something?
Get some balance, kids.
