Barack Obama was born in Hawaii.
So the president is bringing some island flavor to the White House.
The White House's annual picnic for members of Congress and their families -- which has featured red-and-white checked tablecloths, barbecue and country music in the past regime -- will take on theme of a Hawaiian luau this evening.
Tiki torches line the perimeter of the South Lawn, and potted palms have been imported for the day.
"It's almost like the 'Aloha' spirit lives at the White House," Alan Wong, a famed Hawaiian chef preparing tonight's meal, tells the AP.
Wong, who has been planning the menu with the White House for over a month, would not divulge the exact menu, but said that guests should expect traditional luau dishes such as roast pork and poi.
Traditional picnic fare will have a twist: wasabi potato salad.
Wong met Obama several years ago, when Obama ate at one of his Hawaiin restaurants. And this is a special meal that the president is planning.
"To do a luau in Hawaii is a special occasion," Wong said. "You throw a luau for your child's first birthday, or you throw a luau for a wedding."
Tihati, a performance group featuring members from each of the Hawaiian islands, will entertain tonight. Darlene Morikawa, of the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, calls the performance a blend of Polynesian and traditional hula dancing.
The first lady offered a hint of the hula today.

Who knew that he had a "II" after his name? Though by convention it should be a "Jr.", because the "II" would indicate that the name "Barack Hussein Obama" had skipped a generation (his grandfather, for instance, would have had that name, but his father had been named, for instance, Algernon) or that he was named after an older person not his father. It's a convention widely ignored, though.

Inky will have a "plausible" explanation to keep the Birth Certificate conspiracy theory alive, at least in his own mind.
John D. (He and Inky, one and the same?) will fiercely defend the delusions of wingnuts 'r us (he still claims that the Clintons' murdered Vince Foster).
Bruce, besides scouring 'Open Secrets' for a contribution link, will demand that Silva get a republican to weigh in, although McCain and other prominent Pugs already have.
And on and on the wing-nut circus goes, where it stops only John W knows.

Mark, while you and I agree that Obama was born in Hawaii, that isn't (as you claim) his birth certificate, which in Hawaii is termed a "Certificate of Live Birth".
What you display there is an image of what purports to be a "Certification of Live Birth", an after-the-fact notation of a search of the actual birth records.
But don't worry: "dt" and your diminishing band of readers won't call you on this. They'd rather spew hate at anyone who doubts The New Messiah. Accuracy doesn't matter to Obama-worshipers.

This is the same document made available last year, and the wingnuts said it was fake back then. If they were nuts then, there's no reason to think the medication has kicked in now.

I think it's a lovely theme. I embrace the regime change. Bringing new flavor to the WH. He should just remember that he might have grown up on poi, but it's deep dish pizza that raised him. Don't forget your Chicago Illinois roots. It has spirit and flavor, too. I'm sure there is more to it than crooked politics and the trash I keep hearing about. I mean you are spear-heading it as an Olympic venue.

dt, you realize that the "Certificate of Live Birth" is a summary/shortened version of the the original Birth Certificate? And that the original Birth Certificate has not been released? Now, I'm not going to speculate why Obama has not released it, or what it says. All we know is that he refuses to release it, and has gone through considerable expense to keep it from being made public.
Does that not at least make you curious? I mean, I don't buy into conspiracy theories that he was born somewhere else, etc., unless I see some evidence of it. But what could possibly be on that document that is not already public knowledge? Why not make it public? It's a little bizarre. I wish he would make it public just to get people to shut up about it.

The only conspiracy theory I'll buy into is that some Clinton operative or Replican operative like Nixon's Dick Tuck stole whatever "original" documents are kept in Hawaii, BEFORE starting the "birth certificate" rumor.

So if any of you Obots want to see why this document is not real, here is an entire explanation telling us why. Not only is it a forgery but it's a really bad one. Go ahead! Let's see if any of you have the attention span to actually read and try to comprehend it and then get the facts through all your left-wing, White-guilt brainwashing or your "People of Color" brand of racism. The State of Hawaii has announced they are holding the original vault birth certificate. Under Hawaii law it can only be released by Obama signing a release and paying $10.00. Obama refuses to do so. That is for many people what is driving this issue.
Further, when did posting a photographed copy of a document on the internet amount to vetting of a candidate. Notice that there has not been a peep from the Democratic National Committee or the Federal Election Commission that prior to placing Obama's name on the primary ballot that they fully vetted his background. Go ahead and look for it because it does not exist.

Obama is President and will be President at least until January 20, 2013, and probably for four years longer. You should just shut up and take it like the Democrats did after the 2000 and 2004 elections.
