President Barack Obama has held a few prime-time evening news conferences from the East Room of the White House, perhaps the most formal stage that a president can take in his addresses to the print, broadcast and Internet press and public alike.
The president has fielded questions on the fly, at the joint "press availabilities'' common during meetings with foreign leaders abroad and in Washington.
But tomorrow's news conference, announced by the White House today, will mark Obama's first formal news conference in the Rose Garden. He will field questions from reporters there at 12:30 pm EDT. Watch for a full run of live television coverage.
The president, who also plans a "town-hall''-styled session at the White House on healthcare reform Wednesday, faces growing questions about his ability to win all of the changes he proposes this year in the delivery of healthcare -- including expansion of care to millions of Americans uninsured. A Democratic ally has questioned if the president even has the votes for healthcare reform in the Senate.
Watch for a Rose Garden offensive..

Health care reform is the biggest step we can make toward cutting the cost of health care. There is no one in the business now who has the objective of cutting costs. The insurance companies should be but they can not even manage their own costs. 30% overhead is too much.
Congress is more interested in getting the contributions. The situation is out of hand.
