Maybe it's the three Navy SEALS who took out three Soimali pirates with three bullets from the deck of a ship at sea. Maybe it's the troops that deploy time and again without question.
Whatever it is, public confidence in the U.S. military is near an all-time high - at 82 percent - and up 11 points from a year ago, according to the Gallup Poll.
Confidence in something else is up, too: The presidency.
In the Gallup Poll's annual read of public confidence in institutions, the June 14-17 survey has found 51 percent voicing confidence in the presidency. That's up 25 points in the past year.
Of course, the public still places greater confidence in small business -- 67 percent - and in the police -- 59 percent - and in the church - 52 percent.
The presidency ranks higher than the public schools and the medical and criminal justice systems, and - oops - the newspapers, at 25 percent, and television news at 23 percent.
They didn't ask about The Swamp.

It will take President Obama several years to clean out our White House, of all the incompetence and malfeasance, from the previous administrations, of the nightmarish, Dynamic Duo, of Bush&Cheney !! Then, those numbers, confidence in our Presidency, will move upward, significantly !! He is shoveling all of their stuff out of our Executive Branch, comparable to Hercules, cleaning the Augean stables. It is a dirty job, but President Obama and Vice-President Biden, have proven, so far, they are determined, to right the wrongs, of the previous two administrations, a pretty tall order !!
So, America, stay the course, and before we know it, that nightmare, of Bush&Cheney, will be a fading memory and their stink will be gone from our Executive Branch !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

Mark, it just amazes me that you appear to be the only one who can come up with these ambiguous polls (usually consisting of polling a higher percent of Dems vs. Repbs) hyping Obama's poll numbers. He is down in nearly all areas and folks are now seeing the Obamonomics failures and rejecting the tired ole' Bush blame game. A lot of folks like the Prez. but not his policies. Geez, where is your concern about unemployment approaching 10% and those 3.5 million new jobs? What happened to your highly hype stimulus, keeping WH estimates of unemployment at not over 8.3%? Have you forgotten he "saved" 150K ? Not bad, costing your kids and grandchildren a trillion in debt. What happen to that watchdog, Biden, now that we are hearing about billions in waste and fraud with the stimulus money? Folks are questioning his out of control spending, his constant quest for new taxes, this economic killing bogus climate bill, cap and tax, and now this shadow healthcare plan with no plausible way to pay for it. Whatever, it appears that the WH press corps has finally started to ask some tough questions (the Prez. seemed to get frustrated they were not buying his pat, not so answers answers), so maybe you should get on the bandwagon, post a few of these less bias hypes, check out how polls are showing a major decrease in his support from independents, least the Swamp becomes swamped by the changing tide.
On another point, why was the Swamp not chosen to ask a pre-approve Presidential question at Tues. press conference? What with this? Should we now question the questions? Has our free press tanked?
