Sen. Christopher Dodd has been diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer.
Dodd is scheduled to undergo surgery during the Senate's August recess and said he expects to be back at work after a "brief recuperation" at home.
"It's something that's very common among men my age,'' said Dodd, who is 65 and the father of two young daughters. "In fact, one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point during their life.''
Dodd, a Democrat who is up for re-election in November 2010, said he feels fine. "As you have probably noticed, I'm working some long and hard hours lately,'' he said. "And that will continue."
Dodd intends to run for re-election in November 2010. "As you have probably noticed, I'm working some long and hard hours lately,'' he said. "And that will continue."
As the ranking Democrat on the Senate's Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Dodd is one of the key players in the effort to overhaul the nation's healthcare system. It is a role he took on because the committee's chairman and Dodd's close friend, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, is facing his own battle with malignant brain cancer. Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men.
The American Cancer Society estimates that about 192,280 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed in the United States in 2009. Survivors include Sen. John Kerry, former New York City Mayor Rudolf Giuliani and UConn men's basketball coach Jim Calhoun.
Dodd plans a news conference this afternoon at 2 pm EDT at his Hartford office.

He'll get elected.. Then give the seat to his son. The Wash folks are learning the "Chicago Way."

I am sorry to hear about Senator Dodd and his diagnosis of cancer. He has fought the good fight on the floor of our Senate for our healthcare reform. Now, Senator Dodd, it is time for you to fight the good fight, again, and beat that cancer. I'm fighting it every day and with the help of prayer and good thoughts from family and friends, at the moment, I am cancer-free. Thank God.

I wonder if ol' Senator Waitress Sandwich would want the gov't option he and his fellow liberal elites would about to foist on the minions to treat his cancer? Will he wait in line? Will he seek treatment in Canada or some other medical sociliast utopia?

You can always count on Bruce and Terry to be the kind of classy guys to show their deep compassion for a fellow human being suffering from a terrible disease, even though they disagree with him politically. They would never be the kind of scum who would use a posting about someone's battle with canver to make cheap political and personal attacks on the victim. No, these great americans show that they put their concern for their fellow man above everything else. We can all learn to be better people by watching their fine Christian example. I salute them and their positive, uplifting message that has brought their Party to where it is today.

Sarcastic,
It's about as compassionate as your fellow flatliners and their compassion over Gov Palin's "divorce"

Divorce is a choice. No one dies form a divorce. No one chooses to suffer from cancer. Maybe someday you'll be facing what Dodd is. I hope that people treat you with more basic human decency than you have shown yourself to be capable of.

Sarcastic,
Yes divorce is a choice - but still a human tragedy.
What is lacking compassion to ask where Senator Bump'n'Grind will seek his medical treatment?

" Sarcastic ",
I had wondered how long, if at all, it would take some thinking human being to respond to such petty, mean-spirited dribble from such an underdeveloped individual, that masquerades as a thoughtful human being.
Thanks, again, for taking the time to voice your disappointment and regret, at seeing such pettiness !!

Waitress sandwich, Senator bump and grind.
Tell you what Terry, show your posts in this thread to your wife and kids. Ask them if they'd like posts like that to be written about you if you had cancer. See if they are proud of your attacks on the Senator in this context.
