Well, let's see. Anti-white writings in his books? (Check) 20-year relationship with the hateful, racist Jeremiah Wright? (Check) Jumping to conclusions without knowing the facts and insiuating racial profiling on the part of Cambridge police? (check). Obama has always played race games -- it's a big part of his con. Whenever Glen Beck lives a day as a black man he can understand what it means to be one in the U.S. Only a small minority of white people have even a small understanding of the importance of race in daily life. Being white makes race a non-issue in the U.S.A. In general, only minorities are reminded of their race on a regular basis.

I would suggest Bell's Amber for this particular meeting. it is a well balanced beer with amazing flavors which goes well with food or simply on it's own. i've been tasting beer for 35 years and this one is world class delicious.

This article is awful. If you are going to write about what Fox news is peddling maybe you should do your research and tell the whole story.

Obama is from the school of thought of "rules for Radicals", and his extremely left agenda proves that. Then you look at everyone of his close confidants of the past 25 years, and you see Rev Wright (racist), Prof Gates (racist), etc.

President Obama is not racist. I can't believe we're still stuck on this point. Just because someone acknowledges the role that race can and often does play in how someone is perceived does not mean that you are racist.

Being a "non-racist" does not mean being color-blind. It involves being able to recognize different cultures and appreciate the differences without blindly judging others based on their cultural differences. I'm happy to have a president who acknowledges his own background and is not afraid to talk about it, even if his words may be slightly imperfect.

Funny he says that Obama has a "Deep-seeded hatred for white people, white culture" then not 5 seconds later he changes his tune saying, "I'm not saying he doesn't like white people". Your typical wanting-it-both-ways-Beck.

Brouhaha about racism aside, the phrase "teachable moment" ranks high on the cheese meter. Right up there with "shovel ready" and "green shoots".

I hope Sgt Crowley stands Obama and Gates up at the White House. It should be those two that head into the "cop bar" (the one Crowley was in when he got the call from POTUS last week), to apologize and thank them for protecting their community.

Glen Beck is clueless. Has he ever been subjected to any questioning by the police for just walking on the street, perhaps driving his car, or for just being in his home? Many non-whiltes have been. Very often the officers have been presumptious that the non-white person does not live in the neighbourhood. This police officer who rushed to Prof. Gates house to respond to the 911 call could have easily verified who the owner of the house was... just asking his office to check the owner on record? Also these white folks who believe a man is king in his house and should have a right to shoot anyone who intrudes on their property, appear enraged that an individual got upset when someone questioned him for being in his own house...surprizing ??? So there's one standard for white gun-toting folks and another for the rest?
Also when did the cops become God! why do we have to always say yes sir, no sir to them...why is it not okay to question them, provided you are not abusive, violent? It was okay for the cop to put an elderly man for shouting in his own home in handcuffs and take him to the station?.... Sometimes law enforcement officers just are on a power kick....want to show they are "superior" to other citzens. Sorry, they also need some counselling. Officer Crowley, was very arrogant too. When he was asked about the President's comments..his first statement was "I did not vote for him". What kind of American citizen is he? Officer, we live in America... a democracy. Once the people have spoken, the person is our President whether we voted for him or not.

I'm shocked by most of the comments on this page.
A) Obama certainly cares for America, and its absurd to claim anything other than that.
B) Obama's not racist- People critiquing his actions while taking the assumption that white must always be right should take a look a what that says about themselves.
C) Racial profiling is a huge and undeniable issue still today- Look at the statistics.
D) What was cause for alarm was not the initial questioning by the officer, but actually *arresting* a man in his own home who was not causing an actual threat to others. I don't believe the cop is racist, but he certainly overreacted to the situation, and the law backs that up. Disorderly conduct is supposed to be issued ONLY if the person has potential to cause riotous behavior in others or bring harm NOT due to raising a voice in opposition.

Oh come on, this is too easy:

Here are the facts:
1. Neighbor calls police about a possible burglary in progress.
2. Police respond to call.
3, Police see Gates and ask him for his ID.
4. Gates refuses to show ID and then says, "Why, because I'm a black man?"
5. Gates calls police names and is uncooperative.

Here are some other facts:
1. Obama attends racist church with racist pastor for 20 years.
2. Racist pastor says Obama is being dictated to by Jews.
3. Racist pastor says Jews won't let Obama talk to him.
4. Obama quickly says police were dumb regarding Gates matter even though he doesn't know the facts.

I don't think Obama is a racist. But I do think Obama has some pre-conceived notions on some things have a lot to do with his far left views and that he has followed radicals such as Alinsky, William Ayers and the Rev. Wright.

But then the real story ihere s that the Chicago Obune Swamp basically is nothing but an arm of the Obama White House and the Democratic party. Journalism integrity and independence? Nonexistent at the Chicago Tribune.

When the President of the United States says an incident is typical of racial profiling, and that the police in Cambridge were stupid, and in the same breath say he doesn't have all the facts. Given that President Obama was raised by white relatives, is actually bi-racial, AND has more often than not shown himself to be a considered thinker (who doesn't act from his gut, like W), is certainly not a racist.

Beck, however, certainly is. As are most of the other white talking heads who, if they aren't making this claim, keep alive the question of Obama's nationality.

While I agree Bell's Amber is an excellent beer, I would suggest the President choose one of two others: (1) Bell's Brown, or (2) Goose Island's 312.

Bell's Brown is simply the best, most complex Brown I've ever had in 20+ years, and like the Amber, goes well with food or on its own. That being said, the 312 is equally fantastic but lighter on the palate and perhaps a more appropriate "summer" beer.

I would suggest that the Executive Chef look into what food is going to be provided at the sitting, and also factor in whether it will be occurring indoors or outside. Regardless, either of these beers would be an excellent choice.

FINALLY! Someone not afraid to speak the truth. And don't forget to add Barry's wife into the mix too.

I wouldn't take from Obama's comments that he falls in the first definition (though clearly many of his acquaintences DO fit this definition) but his reaction to the Gates arrest clearly showed his capacity to pre-judge a person when he accused the officer of acting "stupidly" whithout knowing all the facts. Put this in context with a multitude of other comments by Obama before his audience was national and draw your own conclusions.
I pray every day that Glenn Beck is wrong. The picture he paints of what is happening to this country is scarry at best but when the President and congress think they can spend TRILLIONS of dollars without consequences who're really the crazy ones?
I have been looking for someone who can defend Obama with anything other than attacks against Beck or silly assertions that because Obama is half white he CAN'T POSSIBLY be racist.

As a white guy with some experience in law enforcement I was frequently accused of being racist because of my job and my skin. I have also seen people, regardless of race, become intoxicated by the power of the badge. To judge every cop as power-tripping, every white as racist, and every black as a victim are all equally foolish and fall in the same definition of harmful prejudice.

Perhaps this is a teachable moment- ANYONE is capable of prejudice, not just "white folks with guns" and that quote alone is an open display of prejudice and racism.

Several months ago at a press conference Obama was challenged by a reporter. To the reporter's question, he replied that he likes to know all the facts first before he comments on an issue. Where was that logic in this case??? He gave a knee-jerk reaction without knowing the facts in the arrest, and that gives Americans a view into his true beliefs. Racism is a strong word to throw around, but the race card was definitely played. This nation will never be colorblind until that "card" is removed from the deck. Obama was right when he said the cops acted stupidly. Everyone is so caught up in the "race" thing that that they are failing to notice that the arrest was, in fact, stupid.

Yelling at a cop is NOT a crime. Once the cops realized that Gates lived at the residence, they should have left--they should have walked away--and left the old man ranting on his porch. Instead they engaged him and then arrested him for yelling at them -- again, people, talking back to a cop is NOT a crime (stupid? yes. criminal? no).

Further, white people need to stop being afraid of black people--yeah, whites treated blacks pretty bad over the past 200 years and if I was and old black man I'd probably have a bit of anger about it, too. That doesn't mean that all black people hate white people. They probably don't appreciate being unfairly labeled as racists anytime they don't agree with what a white person says or does.

It seems odd to me that Beck would accuse a man who has both white and black parents, and who was raised by his white family, of being racist against whites, but has no such accusations for those politicians whose parents are both white, who were raised in all white communities and who wouldn't want their daughters dating black guys.

Beck is a commentator on the network who has had a talking head refer to minorities in this country as "another species" and "ethnics" -- I therefore find it difficult to take Beck's accusations of "racism" seriously. Hey, "Reality Check", instead of using your opinion as a fact and claiming there exists no "liberal mainstream media", why not search the net for the George Mason, Stanford and Boston Univ studies that say Fox News is the LEAST biased and MOST ACCURATE.

I never cared for Beck. He's a chicken little. I'm not saying that some of the stuff he warns about isn't worth addressing. I just think that he is a sensationalist. I usually vote conservative, and I am white.

That being said, I know something about black racism. I went to college in Newark, NJ, and I was threatened by black people several times for no other reason than that I was a convenient (white) target. I never earned any of that, and always kept a low profile. I do not believe that Obama is a classic kind of a racist. For godssake his mother was as white as Beck. I do think that he was schooled in radical thought processes by the likes of self described radical Saul Alinsky, with a nice dollop of "Black Power" and other left wing and even communist inspired socialist thinking. Let's not forget the post colonial school of thought that he also embraces. Yes...As a white man, I remember the stories of my elders telling of the terrible journeys in the belly of ship yanked out of our homeland in Europe. The feeling of being property and subhuman at the hands of massa. They told me of the struggles of fighting for a right to vote or use the same bathroom, diner, or waterfountain of massa. There is, and never was any discrimination against blacks. The reason that blacks have about 1/10 the wealth a white America does is only due to being lazy it can't be discrimination. From the comments on this threat it is clear that there are plenty of knee-jerk haters to go around. Where race came into the picture was when the assumption was made that Dr. Gates could not be the resident of this home, when his Harvard ID had to be 'verified.' Can we seriously imagine that a older white man who presented an ID like that and had the keys to the house would be still considered a problem? I do not 'blame the cops as they arrive with the assumption that the people they encounter and most they encounter proclaim their innocence. Dr. Gates should have contained his anger better. Looking at this from a non-bias perspective, President Obama said that he thought the Cambridge Police did act stupidly which lead to the singling out of one white police officer, Sgt. Crowley. You can look at this from any perspective you want, I personally don’t think that the statement was racist but I do think that it was bias. I don’t think President Obama would have even acknowledged that whole ordeal in his speech if he had not known the professor and the press would not have made such a big deal over this if the professor would have been white. The press and media like to stir-up controversy which makes for good ratings. Is the President racist? Who knows? Give me anybody and I could twist some of their actions and words into racial profiling. Personally I could care less if President Obama is a racist unlike so many others. I don’t have to hang out with the guy, heck I don’t even have to like him. Would it matter if he were gay? Not as charming and good looking? Does any of this matter? To a lot of people it does, when the real concern should be focused on our economy, the war, ect... I thought we were supposed to vote a President into office that was best suited to run this country not an American idol winner. I’m looking for the President to do his job, help improve our country as a whole, and have the best intentions when making decisions regardless of race, religion or creed. When he is incapable of doing this, that’s a whole other topic, because of racism then I’ll be concerned.

Susan, please name one, just one, specific, more qualified white officer who was not promoted so that Powell could be. I'm sure you have done extensive research prior to making that allegation and haven't simply assumed that General Powell must have been less qualified because of his race.

Nothing in my comment suggested I was with the religious right or that I felt bad about myself. However, I do oppose affirmative action when it disadvantages another group. Oh wait! I think the U.S. Supreme Court agrees with me too, after it overturned Sotomayer earlier this month.

Beck states about Obama, "I'm not saying that he doesn't like white people. I'm saying he has a problem. This guy is, I believe, a racist.'' Isn't this a contradiction? If Obama is a racist, as Beck implies, but he also likes white people, then how is he defining racist? Several months ago at a press conference Obama was challenged by a reporter. To the reporter's question, he replied that he likes to know all the facts first before he comments on an issue. Where was that logic in this case??? He gave a knee-jerk reaction without knowing the facts in the arrest, and that gives Americans a view into his true beliefs. Racism is a strong word to throw around, but the race card was definitely played. This nation will never be colorblind until that "card" is removed from the deck. Nonsense. The police are bthere to serve not be served. If more people stood up for their rights, and didn't let the ciops walk all over them we would be better off. That's why so many cops feel they are above the law., like the cop here in Chicago who beat the crap out of a female bartender half his size, and got away with probation. For all of you dim wits who believe that Obama "hates white culture" you must be unaware that Obama has spent time embracing the "white culture" of "picking yourself up by the boot straps" and "looking no further than yourself when" while addressing issues of the black community, particularly youth. I'm shocked by most of the comments on this page.
A) Obama certainly cares for America, and its absurd to claim anything other than that.
B) Obama's not racist- People critiquing his actions while taking the assumption that white must always be right should take a look a what that says about themselves.
C) Racial profiling is a huge and undeniable issue still today- Look at the statistics.
D) What was cause for alarm was not the initial questioning by the officer, but actually *arresting* a man in his own home who was not causing an actual threat to others. I don't believe the cop is racist, but he certainly overreacted to the situation, and the law backs that up. Disorderly conduct is supposed to be issued ONLY if the person has potential to cause riotous behavior in others or bring harm NOT due to raising a voice in opposition.

.A) Obama's agenda as do the statements of his wife and his colleagues indicate that his “care” for America is narrowly focused on a minority and from a narrow perspective at best. “I’ve never been proud of America” “G_ _ D_ _ _N American not God Bless America” ….. “Change America” “apologize for America” no I don’t think he really truly cares for America unless it is a different changed America, the socialist America he wants it to become, “His America” not our America.

B) White is nor never has been always right and few if any believe or espouse that. Refer to the definition above. By definition yes he is in action, in words, by history very much so does he advocate, legislate and practice discrimination and preferential treatment in multiple forms based on race. So yes by definition he is very much as racist. (Prejudice is presently significantly affecting the white male who overwhelmingly dominates the present total unemployment figures and payback never heals prior injustice).

C) Yes racial profiling exists, Yes LOOK AT THE STATISTICS. It is proving scientifically to be as much, possibly even more of a problem among and between blacks than it is white versus black. The Implicit Association Test, has been used extensively to substantiate this fact. If anything whites try harder to suppress implicit associations against minorities than minorities do against themselves. Again proving that racism has nothing to do with the color of your skin but what is in your head, what comes out of your mouth and your actions. So change how a race portrays themselves, thinks about themselves etc. and it is possible that you will do more to correct the profiling as well as prejudices than by casting stones at those who appear different than yourself. PS Dr. Gates was not profiled, he was treated the same probably better than anyone else would have been in the given situation. I take that back, because of his race he may have been treated better than someone else so yes maybe he was profiled.

D) Officer Crowley did not arrest Dr. Gates “in his home” he was “threatening others” i.e. officer Crawley, and causing a public disturbance outside of his house apparently attempting to incite onlookers. He was treated respectfully and professionally and responded with contempt and preconceived projected racism towards officer Crowley. He was repeatedly warned and only after multiple respectful requests was he arrested for disturbing the peace in public. Even after his arrest he was given respect and was treated more than fair, being given considerations and courtesies not entitled but respectfully given for Dr, Gates’ comfort and safety.

Admitting to accepting and openly attempting to change our own individual racism and prejudices that to some degree exist in each of us as well as openly identifying where it obviously clearly exists and accepting these facts will do more than any other actions to consciously correct the issues.

Reminding America of Obama's "roots" his past, his significant influences supports the same rationale that the founding fathers used in requiring the President be a "natural born citizen." We should remind ourselves that the President is there to ensure that America’s founding principles are upheld. That he holds solid allegiance to the country and its founding principles. So history in this case is provided as the rationale, a platform from which it possible to begin to understand why he takes such drastic actions that by definition, principle and action so un-American, anti freedom, anti free enterprise, anti capitalism, increasing government control/reducing freedom, taking from those that have earned giving to those that have not. Without that perspective it is almost unfathomable to the rational mind why he does what he does. However you name it or label his politics are socialism. His comrades such as Chavez have praised him publicly for his broad-sweeping, rapid, extensive changes he has implemented and advocated, which even surpassed Chavez’ own socialist reformation in Venezuela.

Why is it that, love him or hate him, George Bush (who was just as much president as obama is now)was called racist, AND MUCH worse, on a daily basis, and no one batted an eye, yet, someone states that they 'believe' obama is a racist, and it's AN ATTACK?? What some 'black' people fail to realize, is that they CAN be just as racist as some 'white' people. Glenn Beck feels that obama is a racist. He is allowed to feel that, right or wrong.

I doubt Obama's a racist (I'm white). Most certainly he does have an awareness and experience I don't have, based on ancestry differences. It seems he'd become an Africa hugger to compensate for his father's rejection, but then it seems most biracial children (including my nephew) identify with their minority side. And we all have issues. I also don't doubt he sympathizes more with blacks than whites, considering the history; however, I cannot justify his remaining in that church with the loud-mouth anti-white minister.

Michelle? I'm sure she was formerly a "honky" hater. But 2008 opened her eyes to the fact America has changed, lots of whites endorsed and voted for a black man.

Life experiences can change us all if we're open-minded enough to learn and apply.

Yeah, WE keep throwing the fact that you're black in your face. It's not the hip hop culture that is always bringing it up, or comedians like Dave Chappelle, movies like white Chicks, slam poets, magazines like King and Smooth, TV channels like BET, and websites like Blackplanet. Trust me, we're sick of hearing about you being black also. I'll make a deal with you, I'll ignore your skin color from now on if you do the same. Point Set Match.
