Sounds like the White House chef had to go shopping today.

To each his own.

It could be the theme of that get-together over a cold beer that the president, the professor and the police officer plan at the White House tomorrow to patch up the dust-up started when President Barack Obama accused the Cambridge, Mass., police of acting "stupidly'' in the arrest of Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. in his own home.

Blue Moon.jpg

It's actually the menu.

For a South Lawn picnic.

For the president, planning to crack a Bud Light at the meeting wtih Gates and police Sgt. James Crowley, is paying special attention to the taste buds of his White House guests.

"The president will drink Bud Light,'' White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said today.

"As I understand it -- I have not heard this, I've read this, so I'll just repeat what I've read,'' Gibbs said, sounding very much like the president himself when he was asked to comment on the Gates arrest at a prime-time news conference last week, "that Prof. Gates said he liked Red Stripe, and I believe Sgt. Crowley mentioned to the president that he liked Blue Moon.''

Red Stripe is a Jamaican standard, Blue Moon from Golden, Colo.

As for Bud Light, the owners live in Belgium these days, but the president was drinking one of their products at the All-Star game where he tossed out the opening pitch recently in St. Louis, home of Bud.

"So we'll have the gamut covered tomorrow afternoon,'' said Gibbs, noting that they won't be cracking any cold ones in the Oval Office. "I think we're still thinking, weather permitting, the picnic table out back.''

For the record, it will be five o'clock somemplace in the world (Chicago) when they toast to better times: The meeting is set for 6 pm EDT.

It could be a blue moon, however, before these three meet again.

Gates likes Red Stripe? We'll that jjust proves he's an anti-american pinko commie racist! No real american would drink a beer with "red" in it's name!

Issues to be tackled, and the beer amount required for each:

Local racial grievances: 1/2 beer
National racial grievances: 1 beer
immigration reform: 2 beers
middle east peace: 3 beers
North Korea: 3 1/2 beers
Transfer of GM ownership to Harvard University: 4 beers
White Sox perfect game video replay in oval office: 5 beers
Call to Russian ministry of defense to apologize for errant rocket firing: 6 beers

I see where the woman who made the 911 call in the Gates case, at the behest of an elderly neighbor who saw the "break in" in progress has been labeled a racist over and over again by the crud that is the Loony Left in their blogs. AP has an article on it as the woman held a press conference today.
What kills me is the issue of whether she described the men in question or not. Apparently when pressed by the 911 operator she said one might be Hispanic. Anyway, why should one be fearful when describing the perpetrators? Are we going to get to the point that when the police issue a description of a criminal wanted by the police that the description will only say, "Man, 6 feet tall." And that is it. Can't say race, weight (that can be offensive too), whether bald or not (could be considered offensive too) or anything else, or even what he was wearing (as that could indicate race).
Wow, what a great world liberals are making of it, isn't it?

No doubt the Bud Beer will be a shot for Jessie Jackson's son here in Chicago who is the main distributor.

Thinking about it, these choices are fitting for a cop and a professor that were instantaneously launched into the homes of Americans across the nation. It would be a blue moon before the cop who teaches about racial profiling finds himself as the racially motivated perpetrator of one of his calls. It would be a blue moon before a well known scholar and upstanding citizen finds himself as the agitator of a racial incident. For these two men, the red line was always drawn, and then suddenly that blue moon appeared. Sure this is just beer, maybe a photo-spray to make it all go away, and they don't have to pretend to get anything done over it. It's a local incident, and some might even question the necessity of this. Yet, people will no doubt tune in to see what transpires. This meeting of the minds, or just empty beer vessles at the end of the day, could be a blue moon that never sees the light of day again. However, maybe Obama should keep in touch with these two. Something about this blue moon tells me he's here to stay.

Pres Obama criticized a policeman who arrested a 60 years old man in his own home, then apologized, and he's "arrogant"? Bush was a war criminal, he destroyed the country, and never apologized for anything.

So let's recap:
- Pres Obama clarified his statement
-Crowley and the Police Union accepted his clarification and moved on.
-Crowley and Gates will be at the WH for a beer

And here's the race baiting GOPer meme on this non-issue:
- Call Pres Obama a racist
- Cry in beer

The 'Obama is Arrogant' meme is GOP dog whistle code for - uppity black man.

The GOPer's still can't get over the fact that they got their butts kicked by a black guy, and it's going to happen to them again in 2012.

Right John D; so how come Crowley in his police report claimed that she said there were 2 men with backpacks; was Crowley trying to justify a stupid arrest? His inaccurate info. caused the woman to be maligned.

Really, they're going to shoot a Bud Beer?!?!

How dare they!....shoot a Bud Beer!....for Jesse Jackson's son!....whatever the heck that means.

Thanks for the heads up, Inky.

Cheap American beer gives me headache. It's laced with some sort of preservative that causes it.
I stick with the following;
1. Milk glass
2. Fill with Ice
3. Fill to top with gin or vodka

Sweet Home, Morris.

Gladys, Gladys, Gladys, Gates was arrested for disturbing the peace, for causing a ruckus. He was not arrested for having or not having a backpack.
Even Colin Powell on CNN said Gates was wrong. Again, Gladys (and you indicate you are intelligent?), the police responded to a possible burglary. Gates was at the door. The police asked for an ID to verify it was his home and Gates protested and caused a scene and began calling the cops racist. In other words he was mouthing off because the police did their job. Should the officer had said, "Well, yes, sir, since you are telling me this is your home, I will believe you and leave you be?"
As I have stated several times now, if I was the cop I would not have arrested Gates for being a jerk. But Crowley didn't and the cops on the scene, black, Hispanic and white ALL said Crowley did the right thing and that Gates was acting weird and out of control.
Sheesh!

Red Stripe is high quality lager beer, the red in the name could be more about his patriotism to the colour of the American Flag just as the Blue in Blue Moon. Maybe you need to have a Red Stripe and you would recognize the a "Real American" recognizes quality when he taste it. Why do we have to trivialize the whole thing.

It appears that Sgt Cowboy & Ofcr Figueroa both lied in their incident reports..Crowley lied about there being 2 Blacks with Back backpacks & whalen has already said that she did NOT speak to Sgt Cowboy. Sgt Cowboy violates police protocol by entering the house when he thinks there are 2 suspects breaking and entering. THE LEM manual says you wait for Backup any rookie knows that. (Law Enforcement Manual) . Then Officer Figueroa says he goes outside to speak with Whalen after he went inside & was by Sgt Cowboy side as he interrogated Gates. Figuero didn't talk to Whalen Sgt Ashley did. !!!
Somebody Call Internal Affairs ALL these cops are LIARS...
See the CNN stories several which prove that Somebody in this mix is lying bigtime..
http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/07/29/gates.arrest/index.html

BTW 4 cops in Florida just got detained for trying to fix a aciident on a woman that they said was DUI.. only problem there lies were caught on the video/audio tape of the cruiser as the woman was in tha back seat. Cops will LIE to protect other cops...

As one should recall, Bud was a racist beer until Jessie's boy was awarded a Bud distributorship in Chicago, then it was no longer a "dud" racist brew. Anyway, it will be interesting to watch how this WH "spins" this foot in mouth, teachable moment (that occurred due to non-TelePrompTer spontaneous eye-opening revelation into our actual Obama).
Mark, thanks for the poll numbers, sorry I nearly missed it, as I have been "swamped" reading all the healthcare bills with a couple of lawyer friends, trying to get the gist of them, so I could help some of our Democract members of Congress understand what they may be voting on. That "lost some steam" nearly made me choke on my Bud. As always, a Swamper!

John D is right, calling somone a racist is cause for that person to be handcuffed and arrested. Can someone please go arrest John D, Glenn Beck and Michelle Malkin? Thank You!

As usual, John D, you totally miss the point, because you can't read. We were talking about the 911 caller (and the misinformation in the police report) and you go off all crazy again about blaming Gates. Sheesh yourself, Dumb D.
Proud Jamaican is right; Red Stripe is a nice lager from Jamaica. I'm surprised at Crowley, Blue Moon being a european style of drink, even if it is brewed in the U.S.; just a bad copy of nice Belgian ales.

Go ahead, call me a beer-ist, but If the president is drinking Bud Light, he has lost my support forever.

Lot of good it will do Obama as he is tattooed for life as a RACIST now.

I can hear BO right now. "Skip, I don't think you have formally been introduced. This is the stupid 'whitey' cop that arrested you. Hey, racist cop, this is Professor Gates from Harvard University. KNOW YOUR PLACE!"

I think Obama having Gates and Crowley come down to chat over a beer is great. That is very American. How many people here that are posting go out w/their buddies to chat about everyday issues over a few brews? I do just about every Friday and sorry I rarely drink American beers. I also live in Cambridge, Ma and personally know officer Figueroa having played Babe Ruth League baseball with him.

And I can hear you making the introductions:

"Hey you two darkies, this is Sargeant Crowley. He's the law. You get uppity and he'll show you your place, boy. Now you shuffle on along and get me and the officer here a beer without any of that lip, ok, Boy?"

I think you have that tatoo already, Inky; with birther on the other side.

Great news. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 40% of the nation's voters now Strongly Disapprove of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Only 28% Strongly Approve giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -12.
While this is the lowest rating yet for Obama, it's still too high. Let's keep the pressure on this Marxist, narcissistic buffoon and get Congress out of the hands of Pelosi in 2010.

Only a true America hating socialist liberal could manage to bring "Bush" into the equation.. But now that the leftist Marxist has revealed himself, Answer this dopey Leftist-Liberal.... Who has destroyed the country? Who is ripping down capitalism? Who is inciting race warfare? Who is not qualified to be president? Who was elected only for his race?
Barrack Hussein Obama - the Kenya born, leftist liberal comunist, america-hating, Manchurian candidate for the communist movement in America...

Hey, John D, what about your remark labeling people as Crud and Looney Left? Those inflammatory remarks don't help anyone.

If Obama had chose any beer besides Bud light he'd be accused of being "elitist", which is rich considering who the attacks usually come from. Don't you notice all the people who said we should respect president Shrub because of respect for the office are now engaged in borderline treason? And Conservatives used to decry situational ethics Ha Ha And no i don't think Obama is the messiah just better than President Palin. That was the choice , remember?

I like How Pres Obama handles today issues, He is a one on one person that is not worry about showing his human side Pres Obama is able to blend with the working people and still control the big shots in washington.

I have a feeling the White House struggled over what brands of beer to provide to make sure they appeared PC. It just illustrates the sheer absurdity of this whole situation. This story needs to go away.

So, we're all agreed then:

All cops drink.

And... all black men break and enter.

Cool. The national referendum on that is over.

Long as we got it straight.

Btw, the Cerveza should have been Carta Blanca.

That way the Beer Summiters could drink the "white card" in lieu of playing the race card.

Think I'll go stand on my front porch and yell at cops for a while. It's fun, but not very profitable.

But I'm well within my rights....

I wonder if those who trivialize Gates' preference for Red Stripe to politics, and seeing red as communist accept their flag, and their RED BLOOD?
