The Swamp

What, no tweets?

Sarah Palin has "gone dark?''

That's the word from AL-ASK-AH, where the self-retired former governor has left the hearts of Twitter fans all aflutter. (Facebook it: This beats talking about beer in the Rose Garden, Glenn Beck's mouth and President Barack Obama's birthplace -- Honolulu.)

Palins on resignation day.jpg

In pursuit of the question, 'Where in the world is Sarah Palin?', Facebook fans are logging such queries as: "Is there any way you could somehow let us know you're reading this? Maybe a little tweet sometime when you get your Twitter up again."

Since she quit on Sunday, bowing out 18 months before her term ended, the ex-governor, ex-mayor of Wasilla and ex-vice presidential candidate has exited the tweet scene without so much as a, well, tweet. (Palin at her farewell with former "first dude'' Todd Palin at Pioneer Park in Fairbanks, photo by Bill Roth / Anchorage Daily News / MCT)

No comment even on the FOX News poll that shows one third of the 900 voters responding suggesting that the pit bull in lipstick is best-suited as a hockey mom:

"About a third of Americans think the best job for Palin is homemaker (32 percent), while nearly one in five see her as a television talk show host (17 percent). Vice president of the United States comes in third (14 percent), followed closely by college professor (10 percent), with president coming last (6 percent),'' FOX reports.

"Republicans think the best job for Palin is vice president (27 percent), followed by homemaker (18 percent), talk show host (14 percent), president (12 percent) and professor (7 percent).

"More Americans have a negative view of Palin than have a positive one,'' the FOX report notes. "While 38 percent say they have a favorable opinion of her, 51 percent have an unfavorable view. Even so, her ratings are better than those of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: 29 percent favorable and 47 percent unfavorable.''

In her final months as governor, Palin was all over Twitter, tweeting about state business and other subjects, the AP in Anchorage notes, "including domestic energy development, the death of Alaska-based soldiers and dismissals of ethics complaints against her. Nearing her gubernatorial departure, she indicated she would use a personal account on Twitter to continue to stay in touch and more freely speak her mind.''

"10 dys til less politically correct twitters fly frm my fingertps outside State site," the then-governor tweeted July 17.

Palin attorney Thomas Van Flein promises that Palin will return to Twitter, with some suggesting she deserves a rest.

"Sarah can't even go 4 days without tweeting?'' one supporter weighs in at Facebook. "I think she's smart to go 'dark' for a while."

Is that another of her promises !!? I hope not, because we all know, she can't keep her word, like most Republicans !!

Funny Bruce...I didn't happen to catch your disapproval of Fox news and Glenn Beck calling the president a racist. Did I miss that one?

Bill r., please tell us when FOX News called Obimbo a racist? Just because a commentator there did does not mean FOX News called him a racist. And what does that have to do with another silly post from Mark Silva on Sarah Palin? Even when she is not in the news, Silva still writes about her. Methinks he has a poster of her like the famous Farrah Fawcett poster hanging in his bedroom!
It's also interesting that most times Silva ignored FOX News polls, but here he jumps on this Palin poll because her numbers are not that great.
The reality of Palin is that she was maligned like no other candidate in recent U.S. history to where her favorability numbers would be damaged. I also think she made a mistake in leaving the governorship early, even taking into account the BS attacks on her family and BS ethics charges constantly being filed against her. Leaving the governor's job will hurt her if she seeks higher office.
But no matter what, Sarah will always have Mark's undying love!!

bill r,
Fundies and conservatives; two sides to the same coin.
On the one hand they say you are a sinner and going to go to Hell, then they cry like Glenn Beck when they are criticized. They say liberals are being arrogant and condescending. But what could be more arrogant and condescending than telling someone they are Hell bound?

Same for the conservative pundits and politicians; They can call you Marxist, racist, un-American, whatever, but push back and suddenly they are running home to mommy with tears in their eyes.

"Methinks he has a poster of her like the famous Farah Fawcett poster hanging in his bedroom!"

John D,

I'm fine with that because that is her only redeeming quality. By the way, Mark's poster is actually of Tina Fey anyway.

Oh really? Hmmm Hillary Cliinton comes to my mind. Palin got what she deserved! The majority of Americans are smarter and wiser now to such fools, they dont need the media to convince them. All Palin has to do is open her mouth to confirm this!

Sarah's the best reality show of the summer. Funny, stupid, and scary all at the same time.

Seriously, Fox "News" should be paying her for all the time she's filed.

"The reality of Palin is that she was maligned like no other candidate in recent U.S. history to where her favorability numbers would be damaged."
John D,
Obama's name comes to mind. All the right wing bloviating and the Barfer movement have probably shaved a few numbers off the top of BHO's approvals.
Also, Clinton comes to mind.

SP just can't take the heat. I think she is a coward. She seems afraid to go before a crowd that hasn't been cherry picked.

I think that Mark Silva throws out the occasional Palin post just to watch the feeding frenzy among John D, bill r., Bruce, C. Morris, Don Fitz et al. After all, if he wrote about the esoterica of macroeconomics, he's probably get zero comments.

People actually think she should be a college professor? Have they ever read transcripts of her speeches? It's enough to make a person's head spin trying to figure out what the heck she is talking about. I get dizzy from the circle speak.

"...followed closely by college professor (10 percent)"

If Wingnut ideologues like Brucie here don't want us to talk about their beloved Saint Sarah "also" Palin then maybe they shouldn't blindly support a Repuglican party that's stupid enough to put her on a national stage as one of their representitives.

C Morris,

Sarah P. has a right to be terrified before a discerning crowd, she's simply incapable of original thought or rational discourse. She's like the doll encrypted with a few sound bites, pull the string and...

What's really frightening? Living in one of the most challenging times in American History and having 23% per cent of the population comfortable with this ding-bat leading the country (and 70% of Republicans), astounding!

Yeah...but what about Shatner. Freakin' hilarious!

Ever since Sarah Palin's abrupt and odd resignation as Governor of Alaska, people have been speculating what her next career move might be.

Well, that speculation may be coming to an end, as Inside Radio is reporting that Palin representatives have been quietly testing the waters to see how much interest radio syndicators have for her doing an AM Hate radio gig like her hero Druggy Rush does.
http://www.insideradio.com/Article.asp?id=1431221&spid=32060

It appears now that Palin's people are doing more than just testing the waters. We have obtained exclusive footage of Sarah Palin, in the studio, recording a demo to shop to potential syndicators.

Take a look:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5n7afnLCQVI

I can't think of anyone better able to articulate the nutty conservative point of view than Sarah Palin.

Just think of it. Sarah Palin... Talking... Unscripted... For fifteen hours a week...

We have to make this happen, people! And I'm not just saying this as a wannabe comedian who is drooling over the potential limitless amounts of material.

No, I'm saying this as an American. As Sarah would say, "Let's do it for our troops."

So much for Salmon as brain food.

"I fish, therefore I interview on the morning talk shows."

With Party Gal Bruce protecting her, has she "gone dark" or "dork?"

She was doomed the moment she opened her mouth. Any bets that it's the Republican machine that has muzzled her? Meanwhile, what WILL we do for entertainment?

I still haven't figure out why or how covering Sarah Palin will make our lives better. . .

Just leave her alone. She is a private citizen like the rest of us,now.

"College professor"? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Go Bill! Again Conan gets a bullseye.

Looks like KB will be able to unload his infamous Saab, the house approved another $2 billion for the "cash for clunkers" program--But can Bunkport really let old Bessie go?

Bruce-- "A snideness unworthy of the Chicago Tribune". How is that, since you're always railing that the "Libune", and all "mainstream media" are unworthy of print? So which is it Whinerdyce, a worthy or unworthy Trib?
Personally, I think "Wonder from Wasilla" doesn't say enough about the talented S.P. Some suggestions:

1.The skinner from Sandpoint (ID)
2.The Scholar from Skagway (AK)
3. The Vandal from Spudville (UI)
4. Sharky the Sea Warrior (HPU)
5. The Cardinal from Coeur d'Alene (NIC)

"We hunt, therefore we eat"

This is basically what Thomas Jefferson did the years before he defeated Adams.

The only thing keeping her in the spotlight is you, the media.

I'm could not be more over it. This is older news than Michael Jackson (who's still dead by the way) can't you guys find something important to talk about?

Please God, let it be permanent...

Going dark for a while. Ooops, I thought she was in the dark the whole entire time. Maybe this just means she's turning off all the lights at her house to spy on the Russian front.

A college professor? Really???

silence is golden

Sarah Palin is having a Manic episode.

A person’s speech may be pressured, check – resignation speech. Sufferers may go on spending sprees, check – the stuff she bought in new york. People may feel they have been “chosen”, are “on a special mission”, check – VP. Sexual drive may increase, check – 5 kids. In order to be diagnosed with mania a person must experience this state of elevated or irritable mood for at least one week, check – pick a week.

Jane Pauley, Sinead O’Connor, Carrie Fisher, and Linda Hamilton are bipolar.

Sarah should release her medical records and stand up in support of other people plagued with this unfortunate disease.

Dave, what are you doing? Dave, you are going to kill me! Dave, Dave, Dave? This is the HAL 9000, oh the pain...................

I'll believe it, when I no longer hear it.

Sarah Palin: 'Going dark for a while'

-------------

palin has been in the dark for a long time.... she's as dumb as a box of rocks, and yet we have 20% of the country who think she's a genius. Talk about being left behind in the intelligence arena....

OK wingnuts! Here it is. A chance to 'understand' something.

Ms. Palin becomes a professor. One day she forgets her house keys and forces her way into her home. Somebody calls 911 and the cops show up.
A black officer is in charge of the scene and he confronts Professor Palin. She produces her ID but the cop arrests her anyway!
The outrage, the horror!

Mark: if I remember correctly T Jefferson was VP before beating Adams (& Sec'y of State before that). Regardless, Palin is an embarrassment based on her refusal to read anything about current events and her obvious inability to convey what few thoughts she does have. Mommy, make her go away, PLEASE!

I am pleased that on Facebook and Twitter Sarah Palin has been keeping contact with so many. If Sarah is in a quiet time I think of it like this: When Moses went up in the mountain to reflect he came down with more than he went up with. Not that I am comparing Sarah with Moses (though she is a leader) more that we all grow both individually and together - that growth for example took a lot of thought and energy. Remember there was a Tower of Babble that separated us all by language for thousands of years. People have worked hard- people of every nation and today the inventions and advancement allow our babble to be translated into understanding around the world. This is the most historic time in religious history and any other type of history since now God has placed in our hands again the ability to understand each other. It is for a reason and I believe that reason is world Peace. We are all part of this historic time and turning point.
So we are past "Yes we can" to "Yes We Did". I hope in all the excitement we all find a little time to reflect on the world and how to make it better.
I look forward to reading the next twitter and Facebook comments (in more than one language).

But C.Morris, to make your scenario come true, the black officer would have to be both racist and “stupid” (as per Barack Obama). In your pseudo-liberal mythology, racism is only for white people. So, that couldn’t happen. Besides, being the victim of illegal police practices for so long, the hypothetical black police officer would also be sensitive to the rights of other people, and resist actions that would violate the Fourth Amendment. So, you see, you have floated way too much mythology in your example for anyone to believe it, much less for it to be a teachable moment for anyone.

Mark, pleeezzzeee, could you just take your own words and "go dark" on the Palin bashing! She be around...you know it, I know it, the "Swampers" know it, so may we give it a rest for a while and pick it up during the next election cycle or at least until Aug. 8th when she gives her next major personal address at the memorial for the last great American President, who actually performed and delivered for America (unlike the media anointed one, who is all media hype and no actual substance). In return, I will see if I can get a backstage pass for you at event, so we "Swampers" can be assured a fair and balanced, first hand, eyewitness account of the event. Such a deal!!!

Now if we could only get Baracki to do the same thing.

bubba, I believe the quitter has already backed out of that August 8 event; no comment on your Reagan fiction.

BP,
We are in the current mess because of Reagan.
1. Cheap debt
2. Discouraged savings
3. de-industrialization
4. deregulation
5. debt doesn't matter ('he proved it')
6. union busting
7. Father of NAFTA
8. over-leveraged financial system
9. tax cuts for the weathy

All our economic woes can be traced to Reaganomics.

Will you please just do us all a favor and pack up all your guns and ammo and hurry up and move to that secluded ranch in Montana so you can hide out from the govenment black helicopters already?!?!

If Gates would have had a gun and he would have started shooting up the place, all the while claiming that he was protecting his house or something stupid like that, you phony Libertarian nutjobs would be foaming at the mouth with praise for him.

And quit race baiting, you moron.

JW is right about one thing, my scenario would not happen.
Only the actual white cop/black victim scenario has happened, repeatedly, and sometimes with a lot of violence involved.

1. I don’t take orders from a worthless piece of worm filth like you. If you don’t like the fact that I post, or the words that I post, well, you know just what you can go and do to yourself.
.
2. Libertarians don’t believe in initiating force. They believe the only proper use of force is in self-defense. In which case, no Libertarian would be “foaming at the mouth with praise” for Gates if he decided to shoot up the place, you imbecile.
.
3. I wasn’t race baiting. Race baiting involves the use of verbal attacks against a racial group. I made no attacks against any racial group. To the contrary, I pointed out to C.Morris that his scenario was unlikely because it would take a black police officer that was both a racist and stupid - thereby implying that it would be hard to find a black police officer with these negative qualities. But, what the heck? I guess I shouldn’t have expected any better comprehension from an imbecile like you. (P.S. You are still a waste of oxygen and gravity.)

Bash Sarah, Bash Sarah, while obama is trying to take our country down the tubes with healthcare reform, cap and trade and trillions and trillions of more debt...yea, keep bashing Palin, keep their eyes off the ball ~ Not working!

Libertarians - wankers who are ashamed to call themselves Republicans

I'm well aware of who you are, you're the nuts who blow up/shoot up governmet buildings, abortion clinics and most recently a Holocaust museum.

You’ve just been downgraded from an imbecile to an idiot. That’s because:
.
1. You continually insist that Libertarians are the same as Republicans, despite the vast differences in policy between the two groups - as has been explained to you numerous times; and,
.
2. You fail to recognize that Libertarians aren’t interested in blowing stuff up. Again, Libertarians reject the initiation of force to pursue any political or social policy. Force is permissible only in self-defense. You have been feed some defamatory BS about Libertarians, and you have assimilated it like a parrot.
.
Keep it up. Soon they will have to find a new classification of mental deficiency to keep up with you.

Sarah is the new poster child for the Leave No Child Behind Act since Bush left office. Ignorance may be bliss, but those two really take the cake! It's a close race between Dumb and Dumber. GO SARAH GO!!! FAR, FAR AWAY!!!

I just love reading screeds from cowardly conservatives on the intertubes. They love to spout their mediocre talking points, supplied to them by their mediocre idols, spouting cliches like "reverse racism" and "socialism." Word salad croutons, anyone?

Call them on their lies and doublespeak, and what do they do? Just like a petulant child in a sandbox, they revert to simplistic, childish name calling, baseless, facile, unimaginative little tags like "libs," "Marxist," "Un-American," Do you need your blankie and a cup of juice now, little person? Their lack of ideas and fake ideals and pseudo-patriotism are poor facades for their ignorance, bigotry, and cowardice. True patriots ALWAYS challenge and question their government. Demagogues and supporters of tyranny ALWAYS become apologists, traitors and enablers.

Those of you supporting that sad little faded beauty queen and her naked ambition are amusing, but like most quasi-fascists (you're not even able enough to be the real thing), you'll be resigned to the trash heap of history, where you so rightfully belong...

THAT is how you insult someone...;)
