Leave it to Sarah Palin to bring out the best in us.
Youbetcha.
In the continuing interest of promoting that certain je ne sais quoi and suppressing the rhetorical equivalent of the head-butt, we're pleased this evening to thank Bob Clarke for fairly gently reminding us that we don't know our Rene Descartes from our Jean Paul Sartre.
"I think, therefore I am" is a quote from Rene Descartes and has nothing whatever to do with existentialism,'' Clarke wrote.
J'accuse!
So we mixed a few centuries in the multitasking of the moment - the Washington Metro is no place to conduct scholarly research, it turns out.
But we'd llike to ask the sharp-eyed Mr. Clarke to share the Swamp's Comment of the Day award, the Swamp Star, this evening with a regular also known as "Op109,'' who embellished the French mathematical genius' renowned cogito ergo sum with an Alfred E. Neuman-inspired variant:
"I think, therefore I yam.''
Sarah Palin ("We eat, therefore we hunt"), Cliff's Notes await ye.
Take heart, though.
(What, her worry?).
George W. Bush was no stranger to Albert Camus.
But, then, he served two terms as governor, president too. A lame-duck twice.

First, congrats to Mr Clarke and Op109. Second, don't ever let your biggest "fans" accuse you of an Axelrod alliance. We all know that The Mark Silva rubbed elbows with The Rove, too. Third, I'm guilty as charged. Never would have taken Bush for a reader, and I STILL find it hard to believe. However, I did think there was more to the man than all the bloody, pun intended, rhetoric which surrounded him.

I thought she said "I wink, therefore I am".
Anyway, Sarah, this spud's for you.

Mark,
Those who can, do. Those who can do more, teach. Those who just want to screw things up for everyone, vote for Republicans

Mark, how is Obama doing in the polls? We seem to be missing the latest ones (Rasmussen maybe) in the Swamp! What's the reason?

Meanwhile, "The Wire", often used by The Swamp as a source, is reporting that Dem Senators Kent Conrad and Chris Dodd received sweetheart mortgage deals and were aware they were receiving the payouts. See http://abcnews.go.com/Politics for a story that The Swamp would headline if Dodd and Conrad were Republicans.

You'll have to show us that Rasmussen, Zogby and some others have not proven to be outliers before we cite them. We'll stick with Gallup, Pew and the newspaper-network polls as more consistent.

But that isn't good enough to those that spent almost the entire 2 terms of Bush dismissing polls. Remember? They were so proud that Bush didn't care about polls and did what he thought was right. How did that work out for the American people.

Fine by me, so hows he doing in those "highly respected, non-biased " polls anyway? So me the numbers!

Mark Silva,
Probably the most important poll that has been taken in the past year was the presidential election. Which polling firm was the most accurate?

I hope you like the pictures next to the results of the poll.
