In the realm of street art, the posters portraying President Barack Obama as the Joker, as played by the late Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, aren't high art.
They aren't like the iconic images of "Hope'' that sprouted during the Obama camapign. But then, these are the post-campaign portraits of discontent in some quarters.
And, like their predecessors, the newest posters are becoming an Internet sensation among those for whom a picture is worth 1,000 words -- or one word, in the case of this poster campaign: "socialism."
Looking at the anonymously created posters that started on the streets of L.A. and have spread to the World Wide Web, Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson called the depiction politically mean-spirited and dangerous.
"Depicting the president as demonic and a socialist goes beyond political spoofery," Hutchinson said. "it is mean-spirited and dangerous."
But hey, it's a poster, like the others.
And the White House and its allies, looking at some of the shouting going on at "town hall'' meetings around the country lately, see something else that may have been "manufactured'' in the mix of political discourse.
Is it the White House's contention that the anger that some members of Congress are seeing at town hall meetings, especially over health-care reform, is manufactured, Obama aide Robert Gibbs was asked today.
"I think some of it is, yes,'' Gibbs replied. "In fact, I think you've had groups today, Conservatives for Patients' Rights, that have bragged about organizing and manufacturing that anger.''
Like making posters.
Outside the White House after meeting with Obama today, Democratic Sens. Dick Durbin of Illinois and Chuck Schumer of New York both dismissed the significance of the boisterous protesters who have been interrupting Democratic lawmakers' events.
"It is a small fringe group," Schumer told the Huffington Post, "and if we let a small group of people who want to monopolize the conversation and not listen to the facts win, you may as well hang it up."
"These town hall meetings have been orchestrated by the tea baggers and the birthers to just be a free-for-alls, make a lot of noise, go on YouTube and show discord," Durbin said. "I mean that is what they are determined to do. But that is not going to accomplish what we need to accomplish: real health care reform."

What planet has Mark Silva lived on the past 8 years? What planet has Earl Ofari Hutchinson lived on the past 8 years?
On planet Earth, this Obama poster is NOTHING compared to the Kill Bush posters and t-shirts we still see. It's comparable to the Vanity Fair "Bush as Vampire" cover, or even the Bush/Joker poster. All shown with nary an objection by Mr. Ofari Hutchinson, or comment by any Swamp writer.
For the benefit of Swamp writers, there's a montage of true hate posters at www.michellemalkin.com. Take a look at what the hypocritical political Left have tolerated, and even applauded, the past 8 years.

It was wrong to demonize Bush, credit to Malkin, but the demonization of Obama is something different. People opposed Bush based on policy. People oppose Obama based on race. Not one of these hater types has made a rational complaint against Obama. It's Obama is a socialist, Obama was born in Kenya, Obama is unAmerican. Those are their overarching arguments. Every one of them is ignorant.

We were going to call ourselves ACORN, but found out the name was already taken! So we decided we really didn't need a name because our Senators will just call us their pet names, even though we pay their salaries. We also have pet names for them too and many of us will show our appreciation in 2010 when we go and exercise our right to vote. HATE. RACISM. Period. That is what this picture from the mouthbreathers who make up the Republican party is all about. I am tired of it. Whether you like Pres Obama or not, it is not realistic that a man can change 8 years of BushCo Republican chaos and disaster in 6 months.
Pres Obama's race is the only reason why some folks in the Republican party don't like him but they are to cowardly to admit it.
Millions of blacks were killed in the slave trade. Countless black people have been lynched in THIS century. The attitude of a lot of the angry old white guys who make up todays Republican party is "get over it, black people. Stop being so sensitive!"
So black people are suppose to forget about it!! Tell a Jewish man to forget about the Holocoust and you will be repremanded by him and the entire Jewish community and rightly so. Stop it please. Some of us are smart enough to see through this right-wing political fearmongering. Stop spreading hate and trying to mask it with political views.

Posted by: the truth hurts | August 4, 2009 9:47 PM
Talking to leftists is like conversing with walls. They can overlook any hypocrisy on their own part, with zero sense of irony. Anything their side does is justified (and believe me, they believe their ends justify ANY means)... anything the opposition does is another sign of racism, or "mouth breathing" lack of intelligence combined with ill intentions for "minorities".
They have no concept of America, its founding, its meaning, and are not really Americans anymore. They worship not at the alter of freedom... but the alter of equality. And not equality of opportunity, which is a goal worthy of any American... but equality of outcomes is their dream.
Oh don't misunderstand me... they will tell you all about their love of freedom, while simultaneously applauding some leftist politicians discussion on how fatty foods will need to be taxed at a higher rate once health care passes. <--- And again there will be no hint of discordance in their eyes when they tell you. Its as if they have mastered the ability to partition their minds - so as to hold two incompatible beliefs at the same time.
They can justify the multitudinous "Bush/Hitler" drawings, the Bush/Joker paintings, the leftist plays/movies/fantasies of Bush's assassination with comments such as the extreme leftist above made.... "but... but... at least that was about policies instead of racism".... as if someone not agreeing with the government taking over huge segments of the free market (Socialism) had nothing to do with policy - but only rank racism.
So post your reminders and comments. Direct all with an open mind to Michelle Malkins site, where there is a excellent selection of reminders of leftist artwork. Just don't expect to reach many who have commented here... they've been far beyond reason for a long time. The don't use their brains for decision making, as they've dedicated their hearts to that task long ago.

Hilary was the one to broaden our ability to express ourselves! She claimed that dissent against the "powers that be" was patriotic and necessary!
The poster is in the long line of tradition for USA politics. And the response to the images is exactly the same as in the 1850's when the one who emancipated slaves was portrayed as a devil.
Take the image for what it is: a political cartoon that summarizes an argument. Your responses show how empty your emotions are in response to an alternate worldview. Obama isn't a new idea... study it... he is talking about a socialized America. What's your beef with the poster then?
And yes, it does matter that the Bush-haters made this form of political speech an art form. You reap, you sow.
Posted by: Thanks to Hilary! | August 4, 2009 9:57 PM
Your old racist comments are getting old. Think of something new. We do not like him for his policies, just as we don't like Nancy and Harry for the same reasons. Read the constitution, we are a free nation and will fight to the bitter end before we give up that freedom. Just because you believe you are right and we are wrong, doesn't make us crazy or racist. We can't figure you out either, you cry about whales and trees, but give not a second thought to the 3,500 unborn children killed each day. When someone values life, just as you say you do, why would I want my mother to be talked to about killing herself, or a push for abortions on poor people so that they don't use up govt money, What is wrong with you people, you are vampires that tell us, give me your blood so that I can live, but we say, if we give you our blood we will die, and you say, but I want your blood. And we Americans will keep our own blood, thank you very much.

I find it pathetic and unfortunately typical that the Wingnut goons on here are grabbing onto a post from noted psychopath Michelle Malkin (showing anti-Bush posters) as an excuse for their continued racism. It's like they're a bunch of pre-schoolers who got caught with their hands in the cookie jar before dinner...."who me? hey! look over there!"
Though we live in a country that advocates freedom of speech, is this not crossing the line, even for a Republican party that embraces racism? Let me point out an issue.
When Sarah Palin, a former Republican governor of Alaska, found her image defaced on the Internet, or when her daughter was used in a joke by David Letterman, there was an outcry across the GOP. The Republican camp jumped aboard the Palin bandwagon as rallies against David Letterman were held, and campaigns to stop the attack of Sarah Palin were launched nationwide. Additionally, when one Alaskan blogger questioned the motives of Sarah Palin’s sudden resignation, media outlets were sent letters by Sarah Palin’s attorney threatening defamation lawsuits.
Isn’t it ironic, that Republicans are now grabbing hold of the Obama Joker Poster image and using it in similar fashion as those who morphed an image of Sarah Palin and her baby?
If Sarah Palin had grounds for defamation, should President Obama remain silent as his image floats across the Internet? Of course freedom of speech allows for a great use of media forms that seem tasteless, even offensive, but does that make them criminal?
Another factor that must be taken into consideration is the use of greasepaint in the image. Though taking a photo of President Obama and calling him a socialist might be an expression of free speech, does it become an act of racism once you apply greasepaint to the face of an African American president? White greasepaint holds stereotypical and racist connotations, dating back to the early minstrel shows. Has this image by itself crossed the lines of free speech and moved over to a hate crime?
Hey Wingnuts, Pres Obama in white face is not funny to anyone outside of the White Supremists who make up what's left of your base, when are you nuts going to figure out basic stuff like this?
Posted by: PalinbotsHaveBeenDeActivatedForGood! | August 4, 2009 10:56 PM
No, silly, white greasepaint doesn't make the image racist.
At some point you liberals are going to have to face the fact that people oppose Obama because he's a socialist fraud, not out of racism.
By the way -- every time you falsely cry racism, it weakens the word. Which is bad because there are times when we need it to retain its full strength. You do no one any good by trivializing it.
Posted by: Tusec | August 4, 2009 11:30 PM
What I find very troubling here is Mark Silva's linking the poster (totally free speech, by the way, and don't start in on the "oh, it's racism" garbage) with the protests.
These are two completely separate issues. Gibbs might want to link them. Hey! Silva! Did you get he might be spinning you? But to completely take Obama's point of view on the protests is to pander, as you nearly always do, to the Obama side.
Good God -- it would be so nice if your own sentiments weren't quite so clear.
Posted by: beth | August 4, 2009 11:33 PM
Wow, PalinbotsHaveBeenEtc...you had to reach over the wall and bring that one back into the playing field. Great save! Minstrel greasepaint? I never would have made that connection, since Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson, et al had the exact same greasepaint on in Batman. Was Al Jolson the inspiration for the Joker? Further Google research is required. Plus, is laughing at 14 year Willow Palin getting "knocked up" by A-Roid akin to morphing the Annointed One's image and likeness into the Joker's? If you say so, Lefty.
Interesting that charges against the three New Black Panthers for voter intimidation in Philly were dropped by the Hopey-Changey-Transparency Justice Dept.

'A spokesman for the Department of Justice told FOX News, "The Justice Department was successful in obtaining an injunction that prohibits the defendant who brandished a weapon outside a Philadelphia polling place from doing so again. Claims were dismissed against the other defendants based on a careful assessment of the facts and the law. Centralization of power is antithecal to freedom. This Congress & administration are pushing through bills without public discussion which have not been read by those voting on them. These bills are complex and benefit many wealthy insiders without disclosure. Cap & trade: a tax on a tiny amount of gas in the atmosphere which does no harm and which will cripple our economy. Healthcare: a proposal to destroy the best healthcare system in the world to bring it in line with the fashion of the day. Food safety Act: which will destroy the world's most plentiful, abundant and cheapest food providers. And many others. It's not racism which motivates us to act, it is the destructive legislation which this congress and adminstration propose.

Obama in white face?!?!....and Republicans think this is funny?!?!
I swear, what's left of the Republican base (the South) is nothing more than a bunch of toothless rednecks who have the combined IQ of a tin can.
The moment of Pres Obama's election was a slap upside the head for the unreconstructed Wingnut types. They literally could not believe their eyes.
This reason the Republican party is dying a slow painful death - their whackjob "platform".....which of course...attracts whackjobs!
First Religious precept of Conservatism: All real Americans think just like us - (Obama proved this false--even southerners can see white folks with Obama stickers on the car--and clearly enough whities voted for BO to put him over the top.)
Second Religious precept of Conservatism: The Pie Is Fixed. For you to get a big piece, everybody else has to get little or nothing. For you to have a good life, others must get the shaft. They seem so hypocritical, but the bottom line is: they don't want you to have what they have. Helping the poor = less for me, and mine. A mentality of scarcity not abundance.
Third Religious Precept of Conservatism: All or Nothing! Elect one black guy--the black people are taking over! Whitey is doomed! One Hispanic on SCOTUS?!?! Mexicans will take over the judiciary! First Gonzalez--now THIS. Spanish speakers are taking over.
Far right conservatives are in major freakout mode. It's a scary time for them--and for those of us who have to deal with their constant mental meltdowns.
The best part of this is that many Repug Congressmen know this is all crap, and yet they don't have the nerve to smack down the loonies who dominate their party and try to contribute some sort of intelligent conversation to the national political debates.

This picture was done by a Chicago man named Firas Khateeb. You can see a link to his flickr account here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/khateeb88/
Now apparently someone took his art, made sime minor edits, and posted it all over the place, making it famous. What seems interesting is that when you see Firas' original work and read his reasons for making it, you realize that he is not a white conservative at all. Instead, he says that he made this art because he believes that Obama is not who he says he is and that he will be backing off his claims on change. In other words, the original intent of this art was depicting Obama as a politician who will say anything to get elected.
Wow, so racist right? And here we thought it had some demonic connotation to it. Surely, Firas must have been thinking about reverse blackface when he made this.
And for all those confused about how socialism applies to the joker: the evil white conservative who hijacked this art and added "socialism" to it, is not wrong at all. This "socialism" joker poster has nothing to do with the Joker being a socialist; of course he is an anarchist.
This poster has to do with OBAMA being a socialist who was disguised as a moderate centrist for his entire campaign, and he won. The joke is on us. The joker make-up is not fitting because of a common political ideology between the two. What makes the make-up fitting is that, like Firas Khateeb said, "I have a feeling he is not who he says he is." The dark knight make-up was simply a catchy way of expressing that; of course Obama isn't a homicidal clown!
Liberals, you need to stop interpreting art so literally.

Rick Scott has the right busy supporting the healthcare lobyists:
Spokesman Brian Burgess tells Greg Sargent that CPR is distributing "town hall alert" flyers to people on its mailing lists and is reaching out to third party groups via online list serv.
Perhaps the most significant of these discussion groups is the called Tea Party Patriots, which is managed by Tom Gaitens, a field organizer for the industry-funded lobbying organization FreedomWorks. Members of this list serve were not only supplied with list of town hall forums, but with a strategy document outlining the same disruptive techniques we're seeing play out at health care public forums around the country.
The disclosure makes official what much of the reporting about the disruptions seemed to indicate: that industry funded groups--who stand to benefit if health reform legislation fails--are playing a significant role in organizing, and perhaps ginning up, the outbursts we're seeing at health care public forums around the country.

Not to worry.
Not surprising.
Obama is not a mere politician.
These various manipulations of his image show: he's become a cultural force, an icon.
He has already transcended mere politics in the popular consciousness.
The famous banner that encircled Federal Plaza after the election; the flag version of the image---his likeness is now the basis of a new symbology.
So don't be surprised if this little visual canard is responded to as a desecration.
Right wingers: be afraid. Be very afraid.

While the mutten headed on the right would like to believe this is some sort of movement by Americans, it is obvious that this is "manufactured" by the big money lobyists of the healthcare industry. Of course, the right has never been good with the "obvious". A poll out shows that America is divided on this issue....50% favor.....50% oppose, but the game for the right and it's media movement is to be as loud and disruptive as they can to seem some sort of percieved movement. I think the point was that Obama is a joker, meaning that he’s a liar, deceiver, etc. But if you have to explain it, it probably isn’t clear what you were trying to say. Eh.
Not a big deal - dissent is patriotic, after all.
Apparently, though, making out anybody to be the Joker - a well known pop culture reference with no racial connotations - is now “racist.” If they did it to Palin or McCain, it would just mean that they were ruthless criminals and killers bent on inflicting mayhem. It would have received glowing articles in New York magazine and the LA Timesa - coined as “the new agitprop.”
Everything is “racist,” you see, because Obama is half black. Or…something.

Politics in the US is a contact sport, and the poster is more of the same. Meh, they got it wrong anyway, the Joker is a nihilist.
Organizing 'protesters' to go to town meetings and stifle debate by shouting down the opposition is not. It is simply thuggery and brownshirt tactics.
Posted by: incognita | August 5, 2009 11:11 AM
Reaction to the Joker poster is just one more far Left double standard. It was just fine when the Left depicted Bush as Joker.
And where are all of the anti-war protesters? According to middle eastern news outlets (memritv.org), Obama is no different from Bush. Did the DNC stop funding protests now that their guy is in the White House? We're staying the course in Iraq and sending troops to Afghanistan but it's just fine if Obama does it. Politics first, America last. That's the joke.

"orchestrated by the tea baggers and the birthers"
Good on Durbin for labeling the lunatic fringe for what it is. If they want to be the flushed, shrieking, spittle-flecked face of "the oppostion," then let them.

Liberals open themselves to charges of treason when they do things like turning out by the hundreds of thousands to march at rallies organized by communist front groups like International A.N.S.W.E.R.
And when the Democrat senate majority leader publicly states that the war is lost when our troops are still out there fighting, don't you think that damages their morale?
And when Code Pink sends money and medical supplies to the enemy in Fallujah, it really isn't a stretch to say this is "loving" the terrorists is it?
The bottom line is that every charge conservatives have made against the left has been indisputably true. Anyone paying attention knows the left hates this country (as well they should given that America's core principles are antithetical to theirs). And unfortunately the left is who you so-called liberals have aligned yourselves with. So yes - -hate, treason, friends of our enemies -- you have opened yourselves to being rightly accused of all of these.
As for the Obama posters being treasonous, give me a break. It's patriotic to oppose socialism. As for them being hateful, just the opposite is true. Given socialism's track record of increasing human suffering, the kindest thing you can do is oppose it.

Robert Gibbs should go out into the country and see for himself the dislike for Obama and it is getting worse.
As far as packing the house with who ever you want the democrats have been doing this for decades and are now complaining when now the opposition is doing it.
Posted by: Lou | August 4, 2009 6:04 PM
Good point but Robert Gibbs is getting paid to master Obama's Propaganda .
Posted by: Inky | August 5, 2009 11:51 AM
Congrats InkyClown!
You're right, this is still a free country and that's exactly why Americans elected Pres Obama and Republicans can't win elections anymore - Republican fearmongering and thuggery has been REJECTED by the majority.
Republicans still can't get over the fact that they got their butts handed to them by a black man and like another poster above said - it's going to happen to them again in 2012.

Sinky-
Quit sinking, wake up, look over your shoulder, you have been Obam tised.
Posted by: Inky | August 5, 2009 11:55 AM
The only thing that really surprises me, about your post, " bill r. ", is their stupidity in letting it out there. They think they can do things, like stifle democracy, with paid puppets, that mouth their greedy words, without any consequences !! This propaganda war that they are waging against the people of America is a write-off, a business expense. Instead of spending the hundred of millions of dollars that these greedy, anti-democratic Corporations are spending to lie and distort and scare America, these dollars could be used to help some sick or hurt person, who is being denied care, by some corporate bureaucrat. Wake up, America. The Corporations have stolen our country and it is time we took back our Democracy. Fight for Universal Healthcare, for every American !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

Seems quite funny that the right enlisted the work of a Muslum to create their "socialism" poster. Strange bedfellows indeed.

""So black people are suppose to forget about it!! Tell a Jewish man to forget about the Holocoust and you will be repremanded by him and the entire Jewish community and rightly so. Stop it please. Some of us are smart enough to see through this right-wing political fearmongering. Stop spreading hate and trying to mask it with political views.""
The key differences are that a Jewish man does not want reparations for their atrocity. Nor do they continue to oppress themselves with the momory

While I am an Obama supporter (although it gets harder by the day as he adopts many of the unconsitutional Cheney-Bush positions on warrantless wiretapping, "executive privilege", etc.), calls to restrict free expression such as this are clearly unconstitutional infringements of the 1st Amendment. As one who has long labeled our former president "Chimpy McFlightsuit", I can do nothing but support the rights of those who created and have disseminated this image.
However, the idea of Obama being a socialist is absolutely ridiculous - so the use of the Obama/Dark Knight image and the word "socialism" is simply nonsensical. It is interesting how conservatives play to the basest instincts of the less-well-educated members of their "base".

----Fight for Universal Healthcare, for every American !!----
But Obama insists he doesn't favor a universal single payer system. His people say that's just misinformation spread by the right.
Are you saying the ultimate goal of the current healthcare reform really IS to create a universal singlepayer system?
And if so, doesn't this mean that Obama and most of the Democrats are lying to us?

Umm that's what BO has been saying:

Also, thought this was funny:
A lot of people are getting their noses out of joint about a poster popping up around Los Angeles comparing President Barack Obama to the Joker. Frankly, I don’t get it."One embraces terrorists and madmen, is dedicated to anarchy and the destruction of capitalist society, and sends the population fleeing in horror from his creations. The other is a fictional character played by the late Heath Ledger.

Ahhh...but not the entire population....just a few "birthers" and a few who like to plat "tea party"who obviously have trouble finding their rear ends with 2 hands. You still think that being loud is equivalent to being many.
Posted by: bill r. | August 5, 2009 4:47 PM
Actually Batman is closer to being a socialist than the Joker. The Joker is more of an anarchist. Not that I can expect racial attacks like this one to be accurate.
It does show a trend where the anti-Obama forces are getting more bold and desperate which will start causing problems over the next 3 years.

Lou, do you know what the difference was between Barack's Inauguration and Bush's (Sr. or Jr. take your pick)?
About 2 million people in the Mall.
Yes, Lou, Barack is very unpopular.
Not only in D.C. but abroad.
And you have some Penn Central bonds you'd like to sell us, right?
Posted by: ornery | August 5, 2009 11:37 PM
You liberals are great. You can bash Palin and everybody that does not agree with you but others cannot have there opinion. Most people do not care because they will be dead when China comes calling for thier money, but I do not want my kids to pay the price for our lack of ability to say no. Life is not fair, so stop trying to make all of us equal!
Posted by: Allen | August 6, 2009 8:16 PM
Oh joker is the person of color.
Posted by: sweets | August 7, 2009 5:37 AM
All Facist regimes that have ever existed have been birthed from left leaning idealogies and parties. And we see the same happening here with Obama (and this poster merely represents that truth). You have a media like Mark Silva who goes around claiming anything against Obama is hate speech (while they and others post hate speech against conservative ideas). When protesters show up at meetings to be heard about how they dislike what is going on, their brown shirt .. sorry, I mean union .. loyalists step in to help with "crowd control" (sorry if things got a little out of hand, don't worry that foot print will clean right off). This is all about taking away our ability to decide and our freeedoms, all to be fair to others or because government can do better of course. This is all about trying to silence dissent and properly educate the masses. This is about imposing their will on the country despite what the people want.

Right!
It was ok to do it to Bush, but not to the Obamessian!
------
Racism - is voting for 'the chosenone' because he is supposed to be black.
------
Racist & Sexist - supporting Sotomayer because she is hispanic and female
------
Racism & Sexism - being afraid to call out Obama & Sotomayer on points of the Constitution and Rule of Law because you're afraid of being labeled Racist or Sexist.
------
Obama has stated that we will have Obamacare with, or without the GOP - guess that means he's going to do what he wants whether WE THE PEOPLE like it or not - kinda like the 'stimulus pork fest'..
------
Scenario - rally to protest Obamacare.
Action - left-wing thugs beat up black conservative man
News Article - right-wing nutjobs protesting healthcare reform involved in violent action peaceful rally, one hurt.
------
Remember Capt. Parker!!!
Posted by: Leonard | August 8, 2009 11:05 AM
This poster is brilliant!
The democrats think so too, otherwise they wouldn't protest as much.

This is Americans voicing their disgust with obama's socialist views. What is dangerous is the direction obama is trying to take this country.
Posted by: destiny | August 8, 2009 12:53 PM
Libs don't care if Obama's policies will bankrupt our economy, driving American corporations abroad. They all plan to get Gov't/ACORN jobs anyway. Their messiah will take care of them.
Posted by: Dwight | August 8, 2009 2:06 PM
Let's get a little logical here. Can we state what we like about Obama? We love his lies, it makes us feel like we have a president, for which president hasn't lied, Obama is just been more good at it. We all love his Spending, this way we get stuff now and have our grandchildren pay for it when we're dead, after all we'll be dead, plus we don't care about our children anyway since we love to have them murdered. What about racism, Racism is only good if it is against white, and what do you know, Obama has that going for him too, but if Obama was white we wouldn't like him that much, but thank someone he's Black. Another thing we love about Obama is his ability to redefine words such as transparency and Capitalism, it makes feel like we have Clinton in office.
The truth is we don't got a good president, and we haven't had a real good President for a while, but we need to start playing our cards for what they really are worth and not the color of the card, in this case we have a joker. I am not saying McCain was a good Canaidate either, but we had others we could have voted for in the primaries that would have been better. If you are on the side the loves Liars and thieves, then you will love the Joker Card, but if you want a genuinely good card you will go for the Ace.

I believe the racist are the ones that accuse anyone that speaks out against Pres.Obama, as being racist. These so called supporters are preoccupied with race. They seem to see color and accuse everyone and anyone of being racist, they are the ones with the problem.

AMERICA. Grow up and be a real American. I'm ashamed of those who would support this type of dissent, no matter who the person it is focused on. This is the most base level of hate! It is not constructive, but masked frustration. It is pointed at a 3rd grade mentality. A country where the media has dumbed you all up so much that you can't articulate a proper response. Open your eyes and realize that the rich who have made their millions off of most of your backs are behind propugating the hate. Economic times are tough. It is our own fault for living off credit and living past our means. Now we must sleep in the bed we made. However, the rich want to protect their wealth (frequently ill gotten). Can't blame them, but at the same time, America, one of the richest countries in the world is widening the gap between the haves and have nots.
Don't be fools. America by definition been a Socialist country for a hundred years.
Don't be fooled by the hate mongers! They are trying to divide us by appealing to our most base insticts. Don't be fooled, some of these crackpots are racists jumping in to start a fight that will serve their hidden agenda.
OK, that's all, but here is a little about Citizen X:
I don't agree with Gay Marriage or Abortion as a means of birth control, I believe cops spend too much time issuing tickets instead of dealing with real crime. I believe our politicians are corrupt 85% of the time and should have to live with the same healthcare and taxation as the rest of us. I believe the network news is incomplete, does not cover the full story from all sides, and reflects the political agenda of their masters. I believe my neighbors are great people except the guy with the motorcycle.
OK, gotta go shop for insurance.
Have a nice day.

We want to have freedom of speech but yet only if one agrees with whoever is office. The posters are freedom of speech. My husband is in the military defending your right to voice thoughts. He refuses to vote because no matter which party is in the oval office they have to be screwed into their pants.
We as American need to stop being selfish and putting our Wants first. Who was it again that said"Ask not what your country can do for you but what can you do for your country" oh yes a dem.

"Depicting the president as ... a socialist goes beyond political spoofery"
Is this guy on drugs? If Obama isn't a socialist then what is he? Middle of the road? Come on, tell the truth. If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's a duck!!!

Wingnuts?
Birthers?
How easy you compartmentalize citizens who are expressing their outrage. No one is organizing this, this is the rage of common man/woman being expressed.
This president has continued our war presence in the world and allowed the privately owned Federal Reserve to steal Two TRILLION dollars a month since he came into power.
This is just the start congress, you best get your act together.

I worry about our country if this garbage keeps on going. Yes, this is hate language. 1. the dissent against Bush was founded on logical terms after Bush wrecked our country. 2. the opposition to Obama is based on illogical racism that uses socialism and Islam to cover their true intentions. America must survive this, we must make sure that ReNAZIcans never get elected to office again. Yes, they are ReNAZIcans (this does not represent all Republicans, just the right wing fringe). I fear for my country now more than ever, I fear that we might go through a fascist coup led by Glen Beck and Sarah Palin. We must make sure this never happens (Ever). Keep up the good work Obama. They think they have the majority of America, they will be proven wrong when they get their asses handed to them again in 2010 and 2012 , Obama will defeat his GOP challenger by 20 points. I only fear what will happen after he wins again, like many fascists, the tea partiers will act against the will of the people and overthrow the govt. America, wake up, we must prevent our country from being taken over by the right wing dictatorship, our liberties depend on it.
