President Barack Obama has addressed a joint session of Congress on prime-time television.
Obama has appeared on five Sunday news shows - "everything but the Food Channel,'' complains Sen. Kit Bond of Missouri. Obama has done the Late Show with David Letterman.
And now, in the pursuit of health-care reform, Obama appears in a cable television ad sponsored by the American Medical Association, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and others.
The ad is based on a direct, face-to-face appeal from the president.
"If you don't have health insurance, you will finally have quality, affordable options,'' Obama says of the plan he is promoting, in the ad aired by "Americans for Stable Quality Care.''
The group says, "We represent doctors, nurses, technicians, manufacturers and health care consumers. Our organization is supported by the American Medical Association (AMA), FamiliesUSA, the Federation of American Hospitals and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).''
The group started with another ad promoting reform in August.
The coalition then said it was spending $12 million to run the ad in 12 states: Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota and Virginia. See that earlier ad here:

It is better to leave our healthcare in the hands of level headed for profit companies. In their infinate wisdom, they have seen clear to give their CEOs an average of a 7% raise and bonuses.

bill r., I think you should take a closer look at the plans in Congress. They still leave health care in the hands of the health insurance industry. Further, the bills gift wrap that industry 30+ million new customers that will be forced to buy insurance. I hope you appreciate the irony of Obama casting the insurance industry as the villain in his tale, but it is that industry that will benefit the most from his plan.

Health care reform brought to you by special interests. I'm surprised the trail lawyers didn't throw in some cash as their extortion racket remains protected in all the bills.
Nice to see the good little comrade bill r. weighing in against capitalism again. How do you propose to support the facist's regime? Maybe you could take from all the profits our government is so good at generating. bill r. a tool for the fool.
